These "behind the scenes" vlogs are always so very interesting because they allow us to not only see what happens in the bacground, but also to hear your awesome concert pianist thoughts as they happen. I think your philosophy background offers such an interesting perception of life, which is way too cool for words. Loved this vlog, Tiffany! Congrats on your 2nd place! Well done! 👍

our whole family attended your concert in Bad Kissingen - we enjoyed your performance a lot. My kids feel happy you made a picture with them. It is funny, our family appears in this video at the end for second :-) thank you very much, we had a joyful evening with your beautiful music.
Hi Tiffany! Fellow concert pianist here! Just wanted to say that the way you manage to combine your amazing skills at the piano with your humble, down-to-earth personality is really a breath of fresh air... what this field really needs is more people like you! Really hope to get to meet you one day, greetings from San Marino! :)
I agree wholeheartedly with you, Nicola. Tiffany is a great human being. To say the truth, her humbleness, down to earth attitude, view of life, and many things that she says remind me very much of Arthur Rubinstein's... who also was one of the first pianists in recognize the importance (and take advantage of) film, radio and Television - the social media of his time.
@@andresgunther Very well said, couldn't agree more! Horowitz too was kind of a sweetheart... you can see it in "The last Romantic", a documentary they shot about him recording a CD in his house a few years before he died. Despite all his problems, he always seemed to be looking at the bright side of life!
Tiffany, you are beyond competitions. You already have the recognition. That is why they needed extra rows of seats. Your name is already out there. I am so happy for you.
Congratulations, Tiffany! It was absolutely wonderful to hear you play live and to meet you in person again! Also thanks a lot for introducing us to Liebermann's Gargoyles!
I have something important to say to Tiffany Poon. I like the way you rehearse before a concert or program. You examine the settling. You test the keys. You have someone come and adjust the pitch, length of stroke, treble (if possible), adjust the pedals, put a carpet under the pedals and lots of other small things that all contribute to the best possible version of what-ever it is that you are playing or going to play. All those small things add value to your performance. All the effort is rewarded. It is fun to watch you get excited about something like a stuck key or a D string that is not quite right. Thank you for all the great memories. JRH
Simply a ''wow'' vlog! I love those little comments that u put while playing...like small self criticisms. They r very helpful for the ones who r getting inspired by a personality like u (at least for me!). Those comments make me conscious of my own playing. Thanks! Vielen Dank! 😉 Congrats on the prize! :)
Congratulations on placing 2nd in the recital! Excited for you about your upcoming concerts lined up-CONGRATULATIONS on that, as well! Thanks for taking us inside the concert hall. It does remind me of a pumpkin but a splendid pumpkin! Your food always makes me hungry. Loved this vlog!!!
What a lovely pre- during- and post-concert vlog. I'm sure your warmth and your honest communication could be felt in your performance, too. If you ever come close to Cleveland to play, I'll be waiting eagerly for you to come out on stage. The Clara Schumann Nocturne is an ideal encore!
Congratulations. Great vlog with all the different scenes and elements to it. Love hearing your thoughts especially before you are called to the stage. You are so calm!
Congratulations Tiffany! Hearing you play live was an amazing experience (especially Gargoyles and Scarlatti). These Vlogs are great to see what was going on behind the stage, from the perspective of a participant, and all the preparation that goes along into giving such a fantastic performance. Thanks for the autographs for me and my sister!
Congratulations to your 2nd place, Tiffany! 👋👍 Also for having had a full house (that hopefully tamed the reverb and the somewhat aggressive upper register of the piano)😊. I went on the KlavierOlymp website. According to their press release, regarding Tiffany "The jury was impressed by her mesmerizing, sensual sound playing Chopin, and her thoughtful structured interpretation playing Scarlatti". I can't less than agree in that one, having listened to your interpretations, Tiffany! All participants of one year get an invitation to participate the next year at a master class, and give TWO recitals. Win-Win!! Keep striving on that, Tiff! The first prize winner will play a concerto with orchestra... that's the only difference. That, in my humble opinion, is how every piano contest should be made. Oh, and they broke ticket sales records. Wonder why?😉
Tiffany, btw, the way you play and interpret Clara's piece has matured and evolved..you already played it well before, but now, I feel that that it's become an integral part of you...you play it sooo beautifully! I'd love to hear a new recording of it if you get a time to record!
Congrats on your second prize - I'm so happy that you're coming back to Bad Kissingen next summer! When you performed in Essen this year in May I absolutely wanted to come, but it was to far away. Bad Kissingen is the closest you came to my hometown so far, but unfortunately (!) I couldn't manage to come to your concert last week! :( I'm looking forward to your next concerts and hopefully I'll be able to listen to your performance next summer! Greetings from Germany!
Congratulation, Tiffany! Any prize is just another confirmation that you are an amazing pianist! And very good choice that encore, now, when we celebrate 200 years of Clara Schumann :) For me, the big difference between a recital/concert/something that involves public and an audition/exam/competition is that in the first case you are being admired and enjoyed and in the second one you are being judged. It's like in the first case the audience is celebrating the music and in the second case the music is being analysed, it is not lived, it is more brain than heart. Also, it seams that in competitions the technique is more important, when in concerts the expression is more important, but I am not so sure about that, as both matter.
Hey Tiffany! Many congrats! Such a pleasure to listen to you and it’s so great that you can give us all these insights of your life as a pianist. Thank you! Will you come to Portugal any time soon?
Hey. I am from close to that city. Actually been there last week. It's a city where people get rehabilitation and stuff like that. They have old roman bathhouse and such.
Hey Tiffany, I hope you see that! I wanted to say that I listen to a lot of classical music. I've listened to Lang Lang's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 and it was not as good as yours. In general your playstyle is the cleanest I've heard so far! When I need to concentrate I listen to your music. The first time I listened to your HR2, I looked in the sky and had goose bumps all over my body. Please never stop playing piano, you're one of my biggest inspirations! :)

All of that beautiful rich food, it dehydrates her in one of the acoustically best music halls in the world, the one she calls the "Pumpkin". Methinks the nickname sticks to the palate. More water, please, to wash it down, and fuel the precious tears, tears of joy
Tifanny, are you going to be in the National Chopin Piano Competition next year? You were amazing! I cannot believe they dropped you! In all honesty, you were one of the very few who actually made me feel the intention and emotions of the playing!

Hi! I've got one question that just came up in my mind while watching this video: what do you do, when a piece or part of a piece doesn't work in the final rehearsal before the concert (the same day). Do you practice it intensively or just play it slowly and say naw this will work? Or does it just not happen? :D Maybe this could also be stuff for a future Q&A. I'm glad about any kind of reply though!

I think that, for a performer, "feeling in the race" is disturbing for its performance.
For this reason it is preferable, for a concert organizer, not to nominate a winner, leaving the audience enjoyment of the concert itself.
Personally I find that even the commission of the nobel is not able to award the prizes with the right serenity.
