Great cars. Always wanted a car with a 2JZ. Owned two supras which were MK3 with 7M engines. The 2JZ in here should run forever if looked after given what they are capable of. I'd be keeping it if it were mine!

    • @russalternative858
      @russalternative858 10 месяцев назад

I heard horror stories about the 7M but had two and never had any issues. Both had retorqued head bolts and one ran 150k miles while I had it with no issues but maybe I was lucky. Was my daily, driving to work on outskirts of London. Wish I still had them, iconic cars. Would have loved a 1JZ but never had the option. 2JZ one day, I've promised myself!

2JZ we’re built so strong hence the crazy power possible, as stock even driven at full power they are not under any stress as long as oil kept nice and fresh run forever. I’m old school so would want to fix the tape deck I’ve got loads bit in reality an aftermarket Bluetooth head unit and good to go.

Matt keep it. In northern ireland young men are going nuts over the is200. They are the new Sierra. Especially with the lsd and rear wheel drive. They are converting the is300's to manual which is easy done. This will be worth a fortune for an original one

Utterly butterly to drive and even the 2.0 litre straight six sang devinely too. This one a keeper, non-modified IS300 is going up in value in USA and worldwide. Good examples in USA with manual are commanding 16-17k USD. Wobble under braking is likely sticking brake calipers. This generation of IS all have this issue and made worse since most remaining IS300 in UK are now treasured garage queens and doing low annual mileages or the other extreme 1JZ swapped or turned into 1000HP 2JZ-GTE turbo monsters.

  • @davidlee4966

    Jealous of this one...
My second car was a 53 plate blue IS200. Absolutely loved it. Only thing I didn't like was that they never put cruise control on the manual version and it was virtually impossible to retrofit.
At the time, someone around the corner from me had a 54 plate auto IS200 sport in grey on the driveway. Absolute top spec and immaculate. I had been meaning to pop a note through their door saying I'd have it if they wanted rid. Shortly after it had disappeared and a new CT200h had appeared in its place, no doubt traded in the IS. I was so gutted I could have cried.

Great choice Matt! I have two one in the UK - 53K miles and one in Spain (186Km).
I’d recommend getting all the bushes done - Soars Performance near Chippenham are IS specialists and maybe able to help with the roof strip.
The tape is a known problem - a good solution is to fit a GROM Audio BT3 which gives you full hands free and keeps the original factory head unit. Any bubbling on the aluminium boot? Surprised you didn’t mention the Power button! 😉

My Mum lost a roof strip off of her 05 Citroen C3 recently. She thinks that it blew off in recent bad weather. Trying to locate one now on ebay. The car in question is new to her and she was so lucky to get it after her previous car gave up. She used to work in a bank and bought the car from a former customer who is a car mechanic who owned the car and maintained it on behalf of his family who drove it. The car does have timed service intervals which are a good thing but something she'll have to get used to and budget for but the cam belt and water pump have been done so that's good.
Alas ULEZ will be coming to every city in the UK at some point but at least Manchester don't have the most hated man ever (Sadiq Khan) as mayor though hopefully not for much longer.
    Keep the good content coming.

Ok it had the 2.0 instead of the 3.0 but still 6 cylinders and was a lovely engine and ran beautifully. Manual 6 speed gearbox on mine. Three years ago I traded it in for a ct200h which was a sensible decision in some ways, but I have always regretted it. What I need is a large indoor storage area that I can keep old, appreciating beauties and never sell them. Maybe one day.

We had one many years to go and it was sadly written off in an accident, however, I genuinely think that if that hadn’t been the case we would still have it now. The engine is utterly brilliant, ultra smooth and quiet, the interior is great quality. As a package they are faultless. Just a slight heads up the mats in the front have a slight tendency to move/slide and can get caught on the accelerator causing it to jam on which can give you a bit of a wake up if it happens… easy to secure then down though. They are absolutely brilliant cars though and really miss ours. Have had loads of cars since and it’s one that really sticks in the memory. A definite keeper if I were you…

I would be keeping this one too Matt! 😅
I know you haven't shared the outcome of this one yet, but whenever I see a video go live I always kick myself for not checking your website beforehand as more often than not the vehicle is already sold! 🤣😅

My Dad owns the Toyota Version. Toyota Altezza Gita AS300. The 2J is bulletproof. He's done 400,000kms on it. Only thing he's had to replace outside of normal maintainence is a rusty radiator.

You forgot to mention on the steering wheel there is a paddle like shift up and down which can be controlled by your thumbs when driving great feature. I had one of these six years ago in British racing green flying around the Stockport area and you’re right … I wish I never sold It you could say it’s certainly was a wolf in sheep‘s clothing and very pretty .Regards Martin

Always wanted one of these... it would be fine for keeping as an appreciating asset, but even better to be used as a daily driver and treated the way it has been so far in it's life.

I feel that this car could have easily sold for near twice the price you paid for it. Amazing find!

Philip J Bird did me a clutch cable once. Went to go out at lunch (worked in Billers) and it snapped in the car park. Pushed it there and voila. Decent chaps

I’ve just picked up a 2009 BMW 320i auto convertible- dark blue over cream leather - 19 inch alloys … and 21k miles 😮😮 - must admit the low miles is as much as a concern as it is a savour - and a 320i is a let less powerful than I’d normally buy - but living in London - seemed like something I couldn’t walk past - trading in a newer, but higher miles, A3 convertible for it

Another fab video about a really interesting older car. I enjoy watching Matt trying to convince himself he actually needs another car for himself, most that watch this channel would do exactly the same! 😂

I recently bought a dark green manual IS200 sport. The sticky dash you mentioned is from the facelift in the early IS series lexus in 2001 when they changed the material on the interior trim and a few other bits, absolutely amazing cars my old is200 was bulletproof.

Nice, really like that. I have a 2004 Subaru Forester STI which i've kept hold of for many years now for similar reasons.
