It was so sweet to learn that these “wahoos” are used in Prairie Dog language for “all clear/safe/good,” so everytime Poppy sees her poppa and hears him say her name, she’s like “SAFE GOOD!!” 😆🥰

You'll notice she sometimes also initiates it when she sees someone first but that doesn't get caught on camera all the time. When I asked about them, the owner said, it was take them as pets or let ranchers shoot them because cattle and horse break their legs when the trip in the burrows. And my ex brother in law grew up on a ranch in S. Dakota. It was a big family even to go out and shoot prairie dogs, just to leave their little bodies there to rot. They don't even eat them.
He adopted her, it's not like they sell them at the pet store. She is obviously dearly loved and gets her "social" needs met by him and his partner. There is always someone going to bitch about something, would you rather she was roadkill?
