Thanks Father. This personally happened to me prior to watching the video this evening. I am in recovery from alcohol and still after nearly 3yrs I get nervous around large noisy crowds. We went to a rock concert tonight and I was feeling overwhelmed at a busy bar, so stuck my headphones in and whispered a prayer to give me strength to enjoy this night and be there for my amazing wife. Immediate wave of calmness. 🙏
Thank you so much for your generosity! Sorry we didn’t catch this at the time. Bless you and your lovely wife, so glad to hear your found a way to cope.
I prayed to God to take away the desire for the two sins I was most prone to commit, and all desire for these sinful activities left me. It was not immediate, but the strength that I received was phenomenal - like you said, Father, a "micro-injection" of strength.
I am not suprised that God would be so quick to answer a prayer from someone who does not believe; its like a runaway child phoning home, and the parent in tears of joy hearing their childs voice.
Thank you Father Columbo, your words feel as if they have been touched by the grace of God. Your humility and joy is infectious, it shows me what life can be like when we are in state of grace and in true communion with Christ
Fr. Columba, simple explanation... difficult situations. Growing up in the 60's, we were taught Short Prayers... Jesus help me ! God be with me !. You say the Simplest things which can be done until they become Habits !!!! Thank you! May the Holy Spirit continue to give you the words and us to accept them ❤️
Thank you. This is how I am giving up smoking. When I started, I was smoking 1 1/2 packs a day. Now I am down to just a few in a week. (That's a few cigarettes, not packs) I take care of my son who is a stroke survivor and the more he recovers the meaner he gets. He's mad that life took away his left side. However God is working miracles. Soon he will be walking with a cane. I truly love your channel. Keep up the good work. God bless you! ♥️♥️
I think I know exactly what your friend was wrestling with, and I'm in the exact same spot. Even writing this I can feel a voice in my mind telling me not to, and to just carry on sinning in my own "secret" way. I'm grateful God called me to some of the best confessions of my life since and I've got some steps in place. But man oh man, it's been difficult, and I'm grateful to you Father for making this video, I'm giving it a shot right now. God bless you x
Ive seen a couple of your videos now. I saw the thumbnail for this video and a thought came to mind. It was “I love this guy” You look so happy and p, as always, thank you for sharing!
I'm glad this popped up for me on RUclips. I'm trying to quit vaping for Lent and having pretty mixed results. I think you've given me the courage to ask God for more help. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Father. I wish I would have seen this 2 days ago when I committed the same sin I have for years, although I resisted the past few months. I think many times I overthink things. I never thought of keeping things simple, just a simple prayer to avoid temptation in that particular moment, that would be so effective. I will do that from now on, as I know my particular temptation will arise again.
Thank you for sharing that, Vic. I’m sorry you’ve been having those temptations. Remember that we are completely dependent on Gods Grace and Mercy, and we can use our temptations as an opportunity to turn to Him. Jesus, we trust in You. You’re in our prayers, Vic!
@@ctmcatholic Thank you very much, Father. I do have a problem sometimes, thinking I am letting Our Lord down, but I also know I can't do this without His help.
I’m so sorry temptations are a struggle! However, temptations can make us stronger if we learn how to control them. Every moment you are praying to God to help you not fall is a moment you are not falling. God bless you! You are in my prayers!
Wow this video so resonated with me today! Thank you Fr Columba! Thanks be to GOD FOR BEING SO LOVING & FULL OF GENEROSITY & MERCY. I LOVE OUR HEAVENLY FATHER :)
Seems your talks arrive in the particular moments I need that assistance, I really believe that God helping me, and you are a part of his plan bless you
I love how you take part of the Catechismus, relate to it in a narrative way and then show us how to do it for our selves; in humility, in our need, for our growth and in a relation with God. It's really warm.
Please pray for me Father. I'm struck down with a bad flu virus which has left me feeling frustrated and angry. I've fallen back into some o old sins again!!
You are in our prayers, @cloverfield911. I’m sorry to hear you’re sick and struggling with temptations. Remember that God came to save sinners, like us, not the righteous, and the sacrament of confession is powerful! He is a merciful God. Also, like Father was saying in the video, a great tactic is to reverse whatever bad thoughts you are having! If these temptations continue, I highly suggest finding a spiritual director, usually a priest, who can help you navigate through your struggles. It really helps! Again, we are praying for you and hope you get over the flu very quickly! God bless, Hope
I'm pretty sure I tried this for a while, but it was after the consolation of prayer had long ceased. At best, I was able to delay for a time, then fall later, and feel even worse than if I hadn't, because it meant God tried to help and I rejected that help in my wretchedness, or it meant God didn't help. Either way I was now damned and had to drag myself to Confession again to beg God's pardon while living in mortal terror, then get back onto the tightrope after and hope that I could stay on it this time. I'll try again, but I expect nothing to change anymore.
Heard a Nun say that "God loves you because of your faults." St Francis de Sales wrote that after asking for Gods pardon and confessing you should remain in peace . Don't be discouraged. I'll pray for you.
@@leoncaruthers Prayer and devotions. It's scriptural: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find" Pray for peace and strenght of will and do it like Jesus teached, repeatedly and consistently like the widow with the Judge or like Moses asking the Father over and over to spare Sodom. Don't do it "for a while", can't expect the right results if you're not following the right method. Also just like prayer, devotions like the rosary or lectio divina help you enter a meditative, calmer mindset that helps in understanding and loving your relationship with God in a deeper way.
@@NTNG13 years of daily Rosary, sometimes two a day. I didn't 'dip my toe' in prayer and then give up, I pushed with all I had, asking for help. Instead my struggle intensified and my shame expanded because surely God was helping me and here I was stubbornly refusing that help unwittingly. Prayer eventually just made every fall just hurt that much more, either because help wasn't what God wanted for me, or because I was so irredeemably wretched that no help could be received. Regardless, it was only causing me pain, not bringing peace.

When you ask God for the grace to overcome a sin, it's important to also say 'thank you' to God when he grants your request.
Absolutely. It’s too easy to take prayers that God has answered for granted, but that makes it all the more important to remember to be grateful!
