Deyanira, I am in my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program now and I would like to know how long it took you to find your theoretical orientation? Last semester I took my theories class and I felt overwhelmed! I remember you saying in a previous video that you base yours in person centered, but what others do you add to it? I’m thankful for this channel! I love it!
Hi! I hear you it does feel super overwhelming. I dedicated my time during practicum and internship and the post grad period when I was prepping to test and applying for jobs to really diving into my theoretical orientation by reading a lot and practicing to see what felt right for me. I utilize an integrative approach and within that I utilize a person centered approach and pull from DBT, Expressive Arts, and Solution Focused Therapy for example (and anything else I continue to learn) all while adjusting the techniques to fit my client’s individual needs. Sessions are mostly talk therapy with moments of integrating an activity or exercise if necessary or beneficial. It took my about 4-6 months my first year as a therapist to feel confident in my approach and my style so it’s ok if it takes you time to learn what feels right for you.😊
Thank you so much for these book recs! My local library has a copy of You Sound like a White Girl and it was so good! When I returned it, one of the librarians told me it’s been a super popular checkout
Can you do a video on teletherapy exercises? I’ve started internship at a virtual private practice and struggle to figure out how to translate exercises I did with in person clients online.
Saving this to my video request list.😊 Congratulations on starting your internship! I feel like there’s not a lot of private practices in my area that take on interns to directly work with therapy clients so that’s awesome 👏🏽🎉 Definitely check out therapistaid.con they have a tone of free worksheets that you can download and share with your clients through your client portal if that’s something you’d ever like to do.😊
Hi! Fellow Licensed therapist here. Just found you. I am curious if you know how to create a resource page on a website for this? Let me explain, So i am not too great with creating websites, but I did !! lol, I am always recommending books to clients and would love to page a page on my website where I can list them, maybe when with links if possibly, to go look at them.. I tried but I'm using square and it's usually easy, but I'm not finding this part easy!! When I post links to amazon, it's a long link unlike yours in the description. How do you make them like that?
Congratulations on your channel getting monetized. Your content and representation is needed.
Thank you 🤎🥹
