Same. Was disappointed this video was about something else. Also odd to describe carrying three bags, one of which is 45L, as minimalist. It looks like around 70L total, which is the opposite of minimalist.
David Rosenblum how is 70L bag size of belingings the opposite of minimalism? Lol Are you delusional? I'm a minimalist. Started this journey more than 3 years ago. I'm still getting rid off and selling stuff that I don't need. I admire this girl: living with 3 bags only is such an achievement. The sense of freedom you have when you have nothing is amazing. Things are a prison, get rid of them. All you need are emotions, not things. Let the emotions take over your things. This girl also realised that a Monday is a Monday everywhere. You can work remotely but you still have to work. Do not think that remote life is a paradise, it's not. You will have less free time the one you usually have when you are "at home", that's because you need to spend time to organise yourself every time you move, to find a comfortable place to work.
you are living the dream Jacqueline, most importantly to me, you are proving to other young women that you can travel alone and not be afraid! I have done so myself in the past, although have become a bit more reluctant to do it as I have grown older.
Hi Zoe! I’ve only used Eagle Creek packing cubes - because I haven’t needed to replace them! Always a good thing :) I recommend the compression version. The cubes also help keep my clothes organized. For example, I have a cube just for colder weather clothes so if I’m somewhere warm, I don’t need to open it :)

I’m not a minimalist, I’ve traveled the world but have a home base. I haven’t ‘lived’ there for 3 years but will ...one day. I may not be home for months and then touch down for only a few days, but it’s still home. There’s family heirlooms, baby clothes and my souvenir magnets ‘cluttering’ up the refrigerator door. I know where the floor creaks, what that odd sound is and the scent of my linen closet. Traveling doesn’t mean you need to ‘sell everything’ or that you need to give up the home you’ve worked hard to make and where you’ve years of memories. Other people are enjoying my home (and pets!) while I’m ‘wandering the Earth’...for awhile.

This was not a How-To Pack, instead I found a really great video on life. Listening to her speak about her life feels so peaceful, relaxed and present. I would watch this video again as a way to center, calm and focus. Thank you!
Great interview! I've also been traveling and working as a digital nomad for the past 3-5 years and have been a minimalist with carry on only luggage recently as well. The biggest difference is that my costs of living are actually 1/4 of what they were back in the USA as even though I also stay in AirBnb's, I always stay for 1 month stints as I get 40% off. I also spend months in cheaper countries such as Thailand where my monthly rent may only be $200 a month and meals are $3. I'm currently in Eastern Europe for the summer, traveling with hand luggage as well.
I've haven't had a job that required travel like this but I have lived out of just one bag for around a year before and it was good. I have always had very few possessions and even now that I have just six plastic totes and a couple of bags. Honestly I only really use about a single totes worth of stuff now and have been for years. It weights you down and I don't want to be tied down to stuff. Been like this for me for 25 + years and now in my 50s I am even more convinced living with less stuff is better for me and the world. I'm reminded of a saying I read as a boy from a Taoist text about 'my home is where I lay my head '. Safe travels young lady and continue to be in the moment. Peace

I've been a minimalist for about 10 years now. Less is more. Not being attached to inanimate objects really sets one free to really live.Thank you for your story of adventure and travel with less stuff and more fulfillment.
The human mind is a funny thing. A person in a mcmansion and a 3 car garage filled with knick knacks could not fathom how to live this way. Yet, given enough time and desire, anyone can attain this level of minimalism. What is possible and impossible is simply the openness of mind.
Excellent! I loved that Jacqueline touched on being in the moment, going outside of her comfort zones and being realistic about the actuality of travel. The work/stay accommodation in Lisbon was lovely! The World...she is a changing :)
Thanks for watching, Lori! I really appreciate your kind words. Yes, I just left my second stay at that space and I recommend it. They also have a handful of properties in the US. I enjoyed a week stay awhile back at their Encinitas, CA location, which is right by the beach :)
When this video came out it inspired me to declutter. Now i have 20 moving boxes with stuff instead of 40. My goal is 10, excluding emotional treasures, old toys and kitchenstuff 😊
She was an excellent speaker, very realistic, which is something you don't hear alot from most people. I've noticed many people you've focused on have similar realistic views about how they are living, not the IG perfect crap that infiltrates most media. thanks for the good work!
Jacqueline! We met this morning in Los Angeles. Fantastic interview. It was great talking with you. All the best on your adventures. Pepper aka, Pamela
“got rid of all the junk in my life” ,,,,, thank you thank you 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I will look for opportunities to do remote work and do away with all the junk
Thanks for watching, Emma! There are many good sites to look for remote work opportunities including WeWorkRemotely, FlexJobs, and searching AngelList for roles that can be done remotely. Maybe they’ll help kick off your search? Good luck to you! :)
Love hearing different perspectives on travel. I think everyone has different circumstances as to how they put travel into their lifestyle, whether it be while they’re working and being young, versus retiring, early and traveling without the thought of working any longer. My husband and I started pretty young and our kids are adults. We now want to sell our big home and allow the kids to own their own home as my husband and I venture off in retirement with no debt, no work and a hefty retirement and savings. We don’t want to wait until we are too old and no longer mobile to enjoy the beauty of travel. We love traveling and met many people along the way who are digital nomads, as well as retired couples who are now travelers full-time. I think it’s great to see many people accommodate their lives to what really makes them happy, and hear all of their wonderful stories.
Traveling is GREAT we can all agree with that and I admire her in so many ways. However, A Key point she was making, she even wrote a book about it, is that traveling isn't the answer. If you are unhappy or unfulfilled in your soul.... traveling great but it is still not the answer. There is no need to look outside yourself for the answer. Sit quietly with yourself and look inside. Sadly, most people here will miss the point entirely. Lol, If you disagree, don't even get angry and respond with your point of view. It doesn't matter. I wish you peace.
Bart Fart You are so right... Last year i went to the exotic island of Cuba for my first solo travel experience ever and even though i enjoyed the trip and had a lot of fun deep inside i was sad and felt empty and ended up drinking a lot and was never sober... Always had a hangover from the night before in those 10 days. When you are not in peace or love yourself you carry that negative weight everywhere you travel to and don't really enjoy travelling in its full potential. Blessings.....
This is absolutely true. Just a few months ago I was feeling depressed. I was hating my work, even if I was doing a lot of money working at home. My line manager was an incompetent old prick, and I wasn't happy to stay home in front of a computer the whole day, alone. I left, I have been on the market 3 months. I have refused multiple opportunities till I found the one I wanted. I got a job that I like, I make more money, I have great colleagues, my manager is a smart guy, he is younger than me, and I manage myself 40 people. Now I feel happy. All the answer are inside you.
Bart Fart Jepp, wherever you go, your ‚issues‘ go with you. For me (although I look forward to the traveling), the preparation process is actually the ‚therapeutic‘ thing. Getting rid (slowly) of 15 years worth of accumulated stuff, paring everything down to the bare necessities and really, consciously (maybe for the first time in my life) thinking about what’s really important to me and why...that’s the most important part of the journey.
Yes! It took me time to settle into traveling more slowly and it makes a big difference in my happiness level. Thanks for watching and commenting, Erika :)
Lisbon is amazing! What beautiful footage. I really enjoyed hearing about her thoughts on travel. Very interesting and true. It's all just so fascinating : )
Thanks so much for this nice comment, Heather and Curtis! Yes, May and Danielle had the best shot ideas ever :) It was fun to watch it and remember our adventures there!
LOL, I lived this way for six years with a bunch of other guys....in the US Navy. Now 15 years later I have my house paid off and I fill it up with my dogs and whatever I want. Also, my wife can stay too :)
A way to make the vitamins take less space is to remove the labels and put the pills and the labels into little zip lock bags you can find in a dollar store.
Would she have trouble travelling oversea with those though, through customs etc? Here, you have to have them in their original packaging plus a script or letter from your Dr, even for vitamins.
@@seratonin7004 I've never had to show a doctor script traveling internationally. Once I was warned by us cbp about buying vitamins in Mexico. That was silly. Also, if you have the label I don't know why the package would matter. People could always put illegal drugs into legal packaging.
www.livestrong.com/article/1000276-can-unmarked-vitamins-plane/ Carrying the original label should resolve most problems. Apparently gel caps are considered liquids so have to be put in your 3-1-1 bag (us). Of course rules for other countries could be different. In most cases worst case would be having to throw them out, but I suppose some countries could be worse.
@@andreawisner7358 that's why they want a label on it with your name and the prescribing Dr, plus a Dr's letter. Of course they don't check everyone, just like customs, and rule out the authentic using these types of tools. I assume they'd test if unsure. Maybe you just got lucky? I've had mine checked. These were the requirements listed when I visited the USA, parts of Europe, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Just because they didn't check yours doesn't necessarily it isn't a requirement or they won't check others. I would rather not offer advice that might put someone in that position, so I would suggest checking this prior to travel. There's an easy to read US article about it here: www.nytimes.com/2018/01/19/travel/how-to-make-sure-you-travel-with-medication-legally.html "Carry all of your medication - even vitamins and supplements - in their original, clearly marked containers or packaging in a clear plastic bag in carry on luggage. Make sure the name on the prescription, the medicine container and your passport (or one for the recepient of the medication) all match." Jan 19, 2018
Traveling light is great, but be aware that most airlines will only allow you 2 carry-ons, so she would have to check that third bag, even if it's small. They're really cracking down on this in recent years, counting purses etc. as bags.
Fascinating .... The very 1st was a Wendy Myers who many many years back travelled the world alone Her book Seven League Boots is stunning ... Great to read and see all these people *
Really impressive. Considering her vitamins probably took up a lot of space it is even more impressive. =) Would have been interesting to see some kind of list of what she is carrying.
Hi Emma! Thanks for watching and for your comment. Greens powder and supplements (doctor recommended since I’ve eaten plant-based my entire life) are really nice for me to have. They definitely take up room, but I’m glad I have them. I put this packing info in another comment so excuse the copy and paste... If I had to guess, I’d say 75% is clothing, 10% is work/tech stuff (chargers, headphones, laptop, notebooks), and 15% is toiletries. The clothing consists of things like fold-up flats (Tieks), 3 pairs of jeans, 3 thin sweaters, gym clothes, 2 pullovers, 7 or so long and short sleeve t-shirts, etc. I typically go where it’s warm. If I had to guess, those percentages haven’t changed much in nearly 4 years. I used to be really into packing tips and learning how others pack, but now I just do my own thing and worry less! If I need something, I buy it. If I don’t have room for a souvenir, I admire it on the shelf and just walk away! :) Hope this comments helps shed more light! Thanks again for watching.
Wow! You two have gone a long way in production quality since your videos two years ago. Congrats! KEep up the good work, love what you do! Btw: I have my van now, yeppi!
I agree. I was blown away by the quality of this video. Not what I expected. Content was always amazing so I subscribe but this quality is definitely a new class of production.
The toughest part about my many years of permanent, international, travel/work was postal mail. I owned nothing and owed nothing, but still had to have a place to receive my passport, income taxes, credit cards, insurance, driver's license, (and 25 other entities). Finding a reliable person to check my mail once a week, and not eventually skip three weeks, leaving me with cancelations, late fees and worse, was impossible. I had the "re-direct all mail to someone else" routine down after losing my phone number a couple times and a collection agency coming after me (also a postal issue, which I soon resolved). Curious about Jacqueline's solution to this. The most fun part of permanent travel/work, was making time to learn some of the new language before arriving in the new country. My time was before the internet had every resource to learn a complete language. Reading books, writing words, numbers, time, direction, distance, food, verb conjugation, honorifics if applicable, vulgar words to know when to find safety or yell out for help. It made the next location much more enjoyable than pointing at a phrase book/app/menu and holding up fingers. Read (listen to podcast of) David Sedaris, "Me talk pretty one day" a glimpse at his learning a foreign language, and his observations of travelers who did not. The second-toughest part of my permanent international travel/work was sitting next to someone traveling with "three small bags" that really were not small, even too big to bring into the cabin, but got jammed into the overhead, displacing three or four normal carry-on bags, or stuffed under MY feet making my knees meet my chin, rather than checking ONE normal bag at the ticket counter like the rest of us trying to have a "comfortable" 15 hours ride. I scheduled all my travel and lodging, checked ONE normal bag (because a second bag would cost extra). I never missed a flight or a connection, and never saw a good reason to try to carry everything into the cabin at the expense of everyone around you.
Thanks for these thoughts, Bob! I’m grateful for these questions - thanks for taking time to bring up these topics :) 1. My sister, who I pay as my personal assistant on many tasks, receives/monitors my mail. Over time, it’s now dramatically less than it was. I proactively contact people who mail things to me if I think electronic communication may be an option (think: charities I donate to, my accountant sending me invoices, etc.) I simply say, “I want to get your communication, but I spend most of my time abroad. I’d hate to miss something important. Can you email me instead?” Most companies/people have been really kind about finding a solution. I rarely have mail from the US government. 2. Yes, I agree! I am learning Spanish and Portuguese right now. I agree that it’s a more enjoyable stay when you learn! I’ll check out that podcast - thank you. 3. I check my large bag. I bring a purse and my regular size backpack (not backpacker backpack) with me onto planes. Keeps things simple for others/myself and in-line with airline policy :) Thanks for watching and sharing your story!
Heathen Wolf I‘m planning for next spring and already started the process of getting rid of a lot of my stuff. It’s a lot...even though, I only live in a (big) 2 room flat. It’s so weird, realizing how few of your belongings you actually need. I already sold/gave away so much and it hardly made a dent. 15 years of accumulated stuff. It’s a very satisfying process though, learning to live with less and less.
I have to say my husband and I are sitting here watching this and want to jump through the screen and shake her while steaming "HOW do you find those jobs?!?". She said it was easy, except we've been looking for years, I'm not joking years, for remote digital work and it either won't pay our or they need a very specific degree or skill set that we don't have or can't get. HOW??
Thanks for this comment! I’ve received many private messages from folks about this very issue. Perhaps my experience has been abnormal in my career? I didn’t mean to gloss over the challenges here. I simply haven’t experienced them. But, I have heard from others that they share this struggle, too and you are not alone! I’d try giving WeWorkRemotely and FlexJobs a browse if you haven’t yet. Best of luck to you and your husband!
Can you explain how you manage while traveling with health insurance. I am interested in this life style and are researching how to go about it. Has this been covered in any of your videos?
nice, are you also covering >> digital hermits :) I literally love n practice work-stay-shop-gym-hobbies-socialize-cafe-cycle-drop kids to school in 2 Km radius :) Almost zero carbon footprints in travel
Travel once in 3 or 4 months, that will spice up your experience. Frequent travelling leads to anxiety, as you will be thinking about preparing for your next journey, and some times the new journey may be labor intensive
US$50/month for 40 sq ft (8 ft tall) storage facility. Cheaper if you go to a tiny town, as low as US$100/year. I travel/worked for nine years. No need for a home.
@@mizzbella9324 thanks, hope you (everyone!) get the same opportunity to explore. It took a toll on social circles. I left that job and the high-tech work, now I just stay/work locally in a new town doing odd jobs and lots of volunteer work. Different, but enjoyable and fulfilling. Peace.
bob nothing beats being happy and having peace, I’m transitioning myself from the rat race, going to down size and live more simple, moving to Florida to be close to the Caribbean islands 🌴 planning to not leave an island unexplored😁 life is a wink of a second, at the end we only take our memories with us, keep living life happy, cheers!🌞
Travel by it’s nature is minimalist, I don’t see the point of not using luggage. Also very disappointing that she did not mention her daily or monthly costs. Air BNBs are super expensive not at all cheap like the advertisements would have you believe. She must be paying a fortune especially for good internet locations worldwide. Whenever I travel I always look for AirBNBs 1st in hopes of finding that affordable spot. What somewhat affordable is staying in room shares, but I get the feeling this Chief Operating Officer is not sharing rooms..
An amazing insight! This video is generally very helpful & interesting. I’m working as a tour guide but would love to be a digital nomad one day. *Currently documenting that journey on my channel...*
shr didn't say what was in her bags , as far as clothes, I'm minimalizing to be able to live in my minivan for retirement and would have liked to know her wardrobe

What country been those videos made from her? What I'm always interested, where do the people get there supply in traveling! Some people use special soap bars, for example, but I made the experiences that in most countries you don't get this stuff. Thanx for the interesting Video!

Thank you! Travel isn't the shortcut to happiness! I traveled for years and I realize that Where ever you go, there you are...
There You Are...
Very wise words.
Thats exaxctly a saying im always thinking. You bring your own happiness or sadness wherever you go.
Happiness comes from within.
Wish I'd known that when I went off to college!!
Takes a certain type of personality to do that, I'm more of a ' there's no place like home' personality. Kudos to you for finding your passion.
I would have loved to see what's inside the bags and how it is organized

This is the most responsible, mature video about a modern nomad I've ever seen! I like that she talks about working and not "glorifying travel".

I am very impressed with both the information and the production of this video. Thank you for all the hard work that went into this!!
Jacqueline Jensen thank you so much for your tips! Grateful for your book too! 💞
How couragous you are! This must be a wonderful feeling of freedom.
"I like to shake up what I know to be true." you got me. Me too.

Travel is getting away from rutine to me, and doing things i dont do in my home town. Makes my hard work all year long, worth it.
Thanks for sharing, I loved your calm demeanor. Life’s a trip...
Phenomenal content creation! Thank you ✌🏿.
Couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching and leaving this thoughtful comment.

Jepp, wherever you go, your ‚issues‘ go with you.
Totally agree
Wow interesting. Very minimal bags. Travel slowly is key.
Yes! It took me time to settle into traveling more slowly and it makes a big difference in my happiness level. Thanks for watching and commenting, Erika :)
Where is your Cambridge satchel from?
Hi Rhonda! I bought it at The Cambridge Satchel Company’s London store when I lived there for a month in August 2016. It’s a beautiful bag :)
Thank you so much for this. Super interesting and refreshing. Thank you for a realistic 360 view of your traveling experience.

I love this block. Real good travel advices inside. Thanks a lot.
Great video and a good length. Fascinating lady and I've downloaded her book. Thanks!
Audrey Hodge Thanks for the kind words, Audrey! I hope you enjoy the book :)
People could always put illegal drugs into legal packaging.
www.livestrong.com/article/1000276-can-unmarked-vitamins-plane/
Carrying the original label should resolve most problems.
There's an easy to read US article about it here:
www.nytimes.com/2018/01/19/travel/how-to-make-sure-you-travel-with-medication-legally.html
"Carry all of your medication - even vitamins and supplements - in their original, clearly marked containers or packaging in a clear plastic bag in carry on luggage.
Great to read and see all these people *
Off to add this to my reading list... Thanks, Helena! :)
This is going to be me in 2 weeks.....so excited!!
That's great! Best of luck and happy travels :) :)
What? Amazing! This is so great, Gabriel. You've got this :)
Sounds wonderful, maybe I will try this.
Hope this comments helps shed more light! Thanks again for watching.
I LOVED this video! So relevant and informative! What an AMAZING woman! 😎! -j
Very interesting video. I would enjoy more like this. Thanks.
I really love this channel!
Less is better, I have been a follower of the site. It's amazing how she can travel to so many places and live large with less.
Love love this channel!!! Does anyone have other similar channel recommendations?
I’m grateful for these questions - thanks for taking time to bring up these topics :)
Keeps things simple for others/myself and in-line with airline policy :)
Thanks for watching and sharing your story!
The (your) video was very nice and let me reflect on the enjoyable highlights of those work/travel years. Thank you.
I did that part time freelancing as a private crew member for eleven years. Now, i deeply cherish my non moveable home, watching others travel. LOL
That will probably be me, will have to learn to be minimal if I want to live the FT RV life.
Heathen Wolf
I‘m planning for next spring and already started the process of getting rid of a lot of my stuff.
I❤ExploringAlternatives
I travel by Amtrak with five 50 l backpacks lol this after watching minimalistic videos
nice, are you also covering >> digital hermits :) I literally love n practice work-stay-shop-gym-hobbies-socialize-cafe-cycle-drop kids to school in 2 Km radius :) Almost zero carbon footprints in travel
Hail to packing cubes.
She is truly amazing!!!!
Wow really amazing and superb video, I wanna be digital nomad and full time travel.
I simply love your channel, thank you so much, keep it up1
She is so adventurous!
she is so articulate :)
Wow how awesome just amazing great tips to lol thanks for sharing
Travel once in 3 or 4 months, that will spice up your experience. Frequent travelling leads to anxiety, as you will be thinking about preparing for your next journey, and some times the new journey may be labor intensive
Great video,thank u
That was inspiring .
Thank you.
Jaishree S Thanks for watching!
I really liked this vídeo, thank you a lot ❤❤
What a GREAT video 👌
I have no family to store stuff or to go home to..so making a home is important too..
Yeah, I think we have to remember that it's all about priorities and what you can realistically do.
US$50/month for 40 sq ft (8 ft tall) storage facility. Cheaper if you go to a tiny town, as low as US$100/year. I travel/worked for nine years. No need for a home.
bob happy travels, you are truly living life, awesome!😁

Hi, very good video. Thnx for it from Czech Republic :-)
What an amazing lifestyle 👍
If you guys come to Porto, let me know!
This would make me so uncomfortable but I love it lol
At times, it makes me uncomfortable too! Less and less over time :) I’ve learned so much about myself doing it. Thank you for watching!
True. We can live with less.
Nice meeting you, Jacqueline! 😃
Yes ... packing cubes ....
An amazing insight! This video is generally very helpful & interesting. I’m working as a tour guide but would love to be a digital nomad one day. *Currently documenting that journey on my channel...*
Other than the size of the bag, most airlines also insist on the bag not weighing more than 7 Kgs. Does your packed bag weigh less than that?
Thank you (was trying to see what vitamins you are using)
shr didn't say what was in her bags , as far as clothes, I'm minimalizing to be able to live in my minivan for retirement and would have liked to know her wardrobe

What country been those videos made from her? What I'm always interested, where do the people get there supply in traveling! Some people use special soap bars, for example, but I made the experiences that in most countries you don't get this stuff.
