Additional facts per OvertheCap: In 2025 the Giants are projected to have $14.6 Million in Cap Space. Designating Daniel Jones as a post-June 1st release, would save $30 Million, bringing the Giants up to $45.1 Million in Cap Space. Short of Jones proving to be a Top-5 QB this year, it's hard to imagine how the Giants find space for him in 2025.
I like how you're seeking the 4d chess moves behind the scenes. However with the Giants I don't think we know enough. Who liked Jones enough to pay that contract? I feel like it's not the coaches, not even Daboll. I think that ownership might be limiting what they & the GM can do. Not all of 'em like making the news as much as Jerry Jones does, but it doesn't mean they don't interfere at all. Other possibilities include that maybe Daboll thinks he can make *anybody* into a good QB. Another thought it maybe they're better at assessing talent on D. I for instance am way better at seeing talent at QB, LB, CB & safety, but not so much d-line. Because it feels like they *really* upgraded the defense then kinda whiffed on the offense. I should explain I watched a video proving Hiatt, Moore & Slayton are an excellent WR trio. It isn't them. They run great routes, catch what's catchable & get YAC. It *_IS_*_ Jones_ & his reluctance to trust his own arm. If they don't find some way to undo that, they're going nowhere. (Unless Locke turns things around). The only other solution is bring in a good QB. I only know of one who _was_ available for cheap & might be a back-up on their team but who knows about now?
One thing I'd add is I liked what they did to improve the O-line by bringing in guys like Eluemunor and Runyan as well as addinf some quality depth. We also hired the Raiders O-line coach from last year who thought did a nice job getting the most out of the talent they had and hopefully he can do the same here. Overall you did a nice job
Definitely solid moves! Team composition really does start on the offensive and defensive line. Being good in those two areas makes every other position much easier to fill.
Why is everyone saying that the Giants should have signed Barkley and tagged Jones? Giants tried to sign Barkley 3-4 times, going into the '22 bye week. They tried giving him $12.5 per year at that point. The tag for Barkley was $10M, while Jones was $32M. They wouldn't have had the cap space to get Okereke, who completely changed McFadden's career trajectory. I don't think Barkley wanted to stay with the Giants. I don't blame him, because of the position he plays. He needs to win now, but he wasn't going to get that with the Giants
Look I'm not getting caught up that the gmen r having a great O.T.A when the season starts that's when we will c the success blossom do I think their finally putting things together for a good season I do.
It made zero sense for the Giants to listen to all these media outlets saying draft a QB. The team was so barren of talent at the skill positions and the offensive line was so poor that drafting a QB only doomed them to failure. They had to go WR early and then go o-line totally by necessity and Nabors HAS to work for the team to have any hope going forward. If Daniel Jones still fails with what looks like a true #1 receiver for the very first time in his career then you cut bait next year and move on and at least whatever QB you take will have a fighting chance to succeed.
Yes I am a fan I do believe in the Giants RBs , WR and TE they have lots of potential! my worries are the secondary I think that is our weakest link but not bad I will also say depending on their health the Giants will make the playoffs this Year!
Giants kept Jones because the owner likes Jones as a son. Same reason why Herlich was kept on the team for years and of he went to BC.😒🙄 Everyone blamed Reese but it was the owner's call. Tonsil had a gas mask photo so the owner freaks out on draft night and we take Eli Apple. John Mara has been a issue with team for years. Because the owners on this team swear they are all scouts.🙄
Not really sure why that matters. Should have figured it out with Barkley. Even if they couldn’t find a number they both liked, I still think it’s a bad move to sign DJ to that 4-year $160M deal.
@@seattlemic regardless of the Danny signing Saquon wanted to play for Philadelphia because he from around there. How much more is Philadelphia offer than the Giants offer : not that much.
I think we're better off Singleterry gives us about the same amount of production for way less money and they can cut DD after this year. So we got Neighbors signed . The only thing I don't really like is that the Giants didn't trade Barkley
@mikeadamsfootball how do they 'figure it out' when they tried to sign him 3-4 different times going back to the '22 bye week? Barkley wanted money the Giants weren't willing to pay, considering he missed almost 2 of his 5 years in the NFL. I wanted Barkley to stay with the Giants, but I don't think he wanted to stay......
I hate when people say we should have tagged jones and gave Barkley the deal but fail over and over that he’s turned down 2 offers by the giants one of them being that year they just tagged him they needed to sign one of them and jones had no issue signing and the giants gave them self an out after 2 years of that deal
I don’t know, man. With only $1.1M in Cap Space this year, and DJ counting $47M against the cap…not sure I agree with the logic. I think if you don’t give DJ that contract, it’s a lot easier to figure out a deal with Barkley.
55 years of watching football and you base his performance off skewed stats. He’s missed numerous games every year with a terrible o line every year. He was an explosive and one of a kind rb, who most definitely was our best player the past few seasons
I think it’s important to note they didn’t try and “fix” their receiver room by bringing in Crowder and bringing back Shep, but in a draft with a lack of WRs they addressed another position of need in the first round (CB) and still took a highly projected WR in the 3rd. On top of that, trading for another elite weapon on offense (Waller). While Waller is injury prone he still had a good season with a QB carousel happening around him. I also don’t think Waller was in the plans for more than 3 seasons at most. But he can be viewed as a bridge till next year (this year) and hopefully then can be weapon #2 behind a true WR1 (now, Nabers). On top of all of this, would you rather get a guy who is proven to be good (also knowing TEs can play into mid 30s) at the expense of a 3rd rounder knowing the odds of hitting, & especially Joe Schoen odds of hitting, are relatively low. He hasn’t been the best drafter but I would say in terms of the trade it is worth every bit of it. I don’t think anyone predicted Waller to all of a sudden retire the next season, if Joe Schoen knew that was a possibility I doubt he does the trade
I quasi hear you on lack of receivers in the draft last year…though, Puka Nacua, Rashee Rice, Jordan Addison, Sam LaPorta, Zay Flowers…and others all showed up and were better than ANY of the Giants receivers last year. But in Free Agency, Adam Thielen was available. Jarvis Landry. Mecole Hardman. Allen Lazard. None of those options are GREAT, but they’re all better than Crowder. 🤷🏻♂️ Moving forward I think the Giants look a lot better with Malik Nabers. I definitely hear you on the Waller piece of it. Schoen couldn’t have possibly predicted that Waller would not only be limited on availability, and play poorly when he was available-but would also begin mulling retirement. That’s not on Schoen. Could have happened to anybody.
The Jones v Barkley signing wasn’t as simple as you say. They made multiple attempts to sign Barkley. They had the smart plan B to not over commit to non essential position and have the 2 year out on Jones.
Well I am pissed they won meaningless games and lost out on getting Drake Maye . but they had a decent off season adding Burns this defense will be very tough I expect Kavon to elevate even more this season and Nabors will become the number one receiver with Wandale and Hyatt we have plenty of speed at WR I really like the addition Theo Johnson now if Waller decides to give it one more year would be great I like Bellinger to have a better year as well . But the Biggest issue is QB Jones is injury prone I feel we are a 500 team .
Barkley has always been a bad draft pick that’s when all this dysfunction start. That draft pick should have been a QB or trade out. Holding on to Eli to long has hindered this team.
We are committed to DJ for the season however I fully believe Drew Lock will play at some point. This is clearly a QB competition because DJ is still not 100%. We cannot waste another year with all these players with less than mediocre QB play. If we don’t start out 2-0 something is wrong!
Drew Lock is a very good quarterback. I believe he won two games for the Seahawks although their kicker may have lost one of them. He didn't have good coaches at Denver. That's a recent development when Lock was already a Seahawk. Wilson went to Denver and had the bad coaches that Lock had. He then had the worst season of his life.
Let’s not overrate it. This is the offseason they were supposed to have last year except with no Daniel jones. They had a B+ Draft and a B free agency still have no oline depth and no dline depth and don’t even know if their $160 mill qb will be fully healthy before they cut him next year
@vincentmartins6543 all 2 of them? You don’t know who the starting right tackle and guard are and you’re relying on Josh ezudu to be the main backup and nunez roches is your second idl and he offers no pass rush. Unless Riley suddenly becomes a star there’s not much behind Lawrence and neither of those top problems were addressed in the draft when there were guys to be had. Add to that unnecessary coaching turnover and the loss of your best offensive player for nothing. It’s still been a positive offseason but nothing special.
Only Difference Between Giants & Lions It’s A MAJOR Difference .. Oline & They Received A QB That Went To The Super Bowl The Trade Actually Helped Them .. Our Defense Is Better I Believe Our Weapons Are About The Same Just Like I Said QB & OLINE

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Tagging Jones would have prevented them from extending Andrew Thomas, Dexter, trading for Okayrokay, getting Waller, only a NUTLESS MONKEY would think think WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So it was smarter to give him a four-year $160M deal? 🤔 My point is that if you think Jones did enough to POSSIBLY be your franchise QB, I'd rather Tag him for a year to buy time for him to PROVE it, than give him a massive deal, trapping us with him for the next 3 years (at the time) and eliminating any realistic chance at keeping Barkley long term.
@@seattlemicif I recall correctly, franchising DJ last year would have ate up almost all our cap, so we wouldn’t have been able to sign the players we have today. I think we’re on the right path, build the team. If DJ under performs, then he’s probably gone, if he improves, then we have a chance at the playoffs. We’ll go as far as DJ takes us. Go Giants!
@@colocopoco Correct! DJ's (non-exclusive) tag would have $21 million dollars MORE than Saquon's which was just over $10m. QB tags in 2023 were $32 million. Glad you brought it up. Most people forget that fact and I use it often for those in the "Should have tagged DJ!" camp. The deal he got sucks for us, but at the time the decision not to tag DJ was the right option.
@@seattlemic YES WAY smarter to give DJ the deal and don't forget that they structured the deal smartly in a way to get out without hitting too much on the CAP, again, tagging him would have prevented the signing of all the folks I mentioned which makes the team better. SNAKE-quan should have never been drafted with a #2 pick, that was a waste, you DO NOT spend a #2 pick on an RB, and now they are being smart by having a RUN GAME and RB's by committee,
@@theheavyweightchampionofth6862 Well, I don’t agree that Saquon was a bad pick. He’s been one of the best RBs in the game. And I definitely can’t agree with you on DJ’s contract. I’ll concede that franchise tagging him might have not been a good option - but giving him the contract they did is the reason they only have $1.1M in Cap right now. I like that they can get out of it next year…but even eating $22M over the following two seasons feels foolish when it seemed pretty apparent a year ago (and I’d argue longer) that DJ isn’t a long term solution at QB. Having said that - I DO AGREE that I like what the Giants are doing with the team right now. Nabers was a solid draft pick. Receiving corps looks better. Running back by committee can be a really effective approach when done right, and I think they got the right guys to do that now. I’m not sold that this roster is going to take the Giants very far this season…but I like it better than last year’s roster. And I think they’re adding some of the pieces that will make the Giants competitive in 2025.
Saquon Barkely was NOT the Giants best player when he left, we know it makes the story better thats why you say it. Dexter Lawerence and Andrew Thomas are the Giants best players. Saqoun was the Giants best fantasy player and most popular but NOT the best
I have no worries about any part of the team except the O line. 13 years in a row they haven't found out how to put an O line together. 13 F N years. It is the source of all the misery the Giants players have gone through. They can't believe it also. That is another reason why I think Barkley left. It has become just misery on steroids for all the fans and the players. The people who say the O line is not the cause of the failures are delusional.
Saquon wouldn’t sign anything reasonable. Saquon had 2 garbage seasons (I consider playing like crap for 2 games then being injured the rest of the season garbage) and 3 good ones. That’s only a 60% chance Saquon is gonna give you a good season. QBs get better RBs get worse. DJ had a great year. I believe he totaled 22TDs to 5int’s with a not great OL. Joe not being completely sold, gave the Giants a relatively painless out after 2 years in DJs contract. Joe was in a tough spot and made the best call he had available without a crystal ball.
Daniel Jones contract was a huge mistake. The sooner they move on from that, the better they will be long term. As long as Jones is your QB, they are stuck in neutral.
I agree. But the good news is that it’s really reasonable to move on from him after this year. And I think they’re doing a good job of building a team where there’s no excuses anymore. If DJ can’t win with THIS receiving corps and scheme, then they’ll try Drew Lock. If Drew Lock looks better than DJ-0% chance DJ is back on the team next year without agreeing to a MASSIVE restructure.
@@jameshollister8294 Well, I can’t pretend I entirely have that answer. In the video I suggested Dak Prescott if he’s available. Potentially Kirk Cousins. Potentially Drew Lock. And then, sure, a rookie is a possibility too. Won’t pretend I know how 2025 will look before we’ve even started 2024. Bottom line, Daniel Jones isn’t it.
You mean like when he took a shit team to the playoffs and adjusted for drops led the league in pct at 81% and was second in the red zone with the worst receivers in the league. This team is twice as good as the playoff team.
@@seattlemic I'm more surprised he the only QB to get six years .... While teams move on fast from Kenny Fields Zac Mac Trey But Jones get so much time

Or are you trying to say he’s not a good quarterback? In that case, I strongly disagree. 2023: -3rd in Pass Yards -1st in TD Passes -2nd in QBR What’s the issue with offhandedly mentioning Dak Prescott as a possibility?

@@detroitcitycardo6189 I mean, he’s kicked the Giants butt like every time he’s played them. He’s 12-2 against the Giants. You wouldn’t rather have him on your side for once? Not to mention, I think hatred for the division is for the fans more than the players. Brett Favre’s career was mostly with the Packers, but he ended in the Division with the Vikings for two years. Drew Bledsoe went from the Patriots to the Bills. Ryan Fitzpatrick played for everyone in the AFC East other than the Patriots. Dak to the Giants could make a ton of sense. He’s a huge upgrade from Daniel Jones. He has insider information on the Cowboys, who you play twice a year. Plus, being that he’s played the Giants so many times he already has a lot of familiarity with the organization. I’m a Seahawks fan, but I’d be more than happy to sign Brock Purdy. Actually, a few years ago I remember the Seahawks were one of the most likely locations for Jimmy G.

Every one knows the Right tackle was swiss cheese should be fine if they can move on from the stiff
Yeah Barkley turned down offers. They were not for 13 million a year as everyone loves to claim. More like 10 to 11
Saquon Barkely was NOT the Giants best player when he left, we know it makes the story better thats why you say it. Dexter Lawerence and Andrew Thomas are the Giants best players. Saqoun was the Giants best fantasy player and most popular but NOT the best
Then who was sir?
I have no worries about any part of the team except the O line. 13 years in a row they haven't found out how to put an O line together. 13 F N years. It is the source of all the misery the Giants players have gone through. They can't believe it also. That is another reason why I think Barkley left. It has become just misery on steroids for all the fans and the players. The people who say the O line is not the cause of the failures are delusional.
Both Barkley and Jones were drafted too high. Face it.
Because we still have Daniel Jones, im boycotting all Giants games this year.
So glad they didn't sign Barkley.
They tried to sign Barclay he wouldn't sign he wanted 16m a year he forced their hand
Could not have tagged jones and sign Barkley. Do your homework
Move on to who ? Cam ward I hope
While teams move on fast from
Kenny
Fields
Zac
Mac
Trey
But Jones get so much time
Yea yea yea they say they are having a good offseason every year until that first snap in game one 🤦🏽♂️
To be fair, I do clarify in the video that I don’t think they’re a playoff team. I simply thing they’re making the right moves now, that will benefit them after they let go of Daniel Jones next offseason.
@@seattlemic I never said you said anything about playoffs.. I’m just saying every year in the off season the giants are always “making right moves” and then shit goes left
2022 wasn’t a successful year? What did you want?
More points than points allowed
And don't forget a bad offensive line
Yeah you threw me when you said Dak smh
You threw me by being thrown! 😅 I’m not sure what part throws you about Dak Prescott? Is it that he’ll be available? It’s looking highly likely that he will be. Or are you trying to say he’s not a good quarterback? In that case, I strongly disagree.
2023:
-3rd in Pass Yards
-1st in TD Passes
-2nd in QBR
What’s the issue with offhandedly mentioning Dak Prescott as a possibility?
@mikeadamsfootball 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I'm just not a fan of Dak 😂😂 I don't want to see him with the GMEN... And what every happened to players hating there division teams. Because I don't like none of them. AT ALL
@@detroitcitycardo6189 I mean, he’s kicked the Giants butt like every time he’s played them.
This org no OL draft pick old OL free agency pick's Lozy QB DJ poor ownership bad decisions.
We have drafted more OL in the last 10 yrs than almost any other team. This is coaching issues and thank god we got a new and respected o line coach
And don't forget he didn't have a wide receiver one
You lost me after the Dak crap
I lost you in the 13th minute of a 14 minute video? I think I’m okay with that 😅
Sorry I lost you at all, but I do appreciate you watching as much as you could! Thanks for giving my video a chance!
Wake up u delusional fans DJ is LOZY TRIPS ON HIS OWN 2 FEET TWICE CAN'T READ PLAYS FAST ENOUGH 1 FLUKE SEASON OL can't Block every yr POOR OWNERSHIP BAD DECISIONS They Will Lose Again
Typical copy/paste content BS. Nobody says anything new or challenge the bs narrative. It's all about what gets you clicks instead of offering unique views. WTF bro!
