Hopefully Josh reads the comment section because I want to say a huge thanks to him for keeping quality care and story telling in Warhammer Fantasy during an age GW seems to have lost the plot, I really love road of skulls because we got to see the rare interactions between Dawi and Chaos Dwarfs, his later works on Gotrek and Felix were absolutely fantastic too. While I think GW blowing up the planet was a mistake, Josh made it more palatable with his writings and I will be forever grateful for how he responded to fan questions about absent characters neglected by GW (I do not believe GW ever had intention on bringing Jules le Jongleur or Bertrand the Brigand, they were in the wrong for getting upset about that). Also pining for that Abhorrash book with Gilles we'll never get! Great interview and many thanks!
Excellent interview full of so many, “oh, now it makes sense” moments regarding the end times novels vs the game books. Josh came across really well too. Thanks!
Thanks for this interview Jordan. Love Josh's work and I'm actually currently reading Lukas The Trickster. Some awesome Dark Eldar! A big thanks to Josh for his AOS work. Made the setting for me.
I really loved this interview. Heck, anyone thinking of going to work writing for a major IP should listen to this interview, Josh does a great job laying out both the fun aspects and the absolutely maddening ones. Excellent work, Jordan, and thanks to you and Josh both! ...as a casual wrestling fan I am kind of curious which wrestler he's acquainted with...
love the moment of thought at 44:12 ish, immediatly recognized the character but clearly a deep dive for even someone whos massivly versed in the stories and setting. Love this interview though for lots of reasons, Josh is fab and has a truly cool story to tell about his time working with GW and before getting the GW job. Truly an insparation!
As someone else who studied anthropology and intended to go into the field of teaching anthropology I was incredibly saddened that there was no job after my teaching staff passed away because the university had closed down the school of anthropology so quickly ergo there was no place for me to take and teach anthropology at. If only I hadn’t tried being an electrician in the meantime… never mind 🤷🏽♂️ maybe I should start writing now and see what happens next. edit: Road of Bones is definitely going to be my next book 📕 📖 Great to see Blood Bowl being mentioned yet again because it really is a masterpiece of of gaming experience, entertainment wise exquisite storytelling 🏈 Praise Nuffle 🏈
I have read none of those books as they came out during my hobby break but very much enjoyed the conversation. It was really interesting to get a peak behind the curtain as to how Black Library operates, it very much feels like the End Times were high pressure and moveable deadlines across the entire GW ecosystem based on your other interviews with designers, sculptors, etc.
Enjoyed road of skulls, that might be because it has Chaos Dwarfs in and they are my favourite faction, but still. I did also really enjoy Knight of the Blazing Sun, was a good look into the minor gods in Warhammer.
I love the Thin Man movies!!! I have been leaving posts on as many Aconyte posts as possible asking for more Shin books, and even sent them a direct message about it!!!! I can't wait to read about Shin and Konomi adjusting to married life while having to solve everyone else's problems!!! I can really see them as a Nick and Nora couple!!!
An interview that is as instructive as it is moving: we can clearly see that Josh Reynolds has turned the page on Black Library because he could no longer take it any more.
Enjoyable conversation, the stories of how these kinds of books come about, both the control and the chaos of GW's approach to them are both funny and interesting. I can't imagine wanting to read a Warhammer book as an adult and this has done nothing to change that (if anything the opposite), but highly entertaining nonetheless.
Great interview mate. SOOOOOOOOO many insights into The End Times. It could have been amazing. I'd really like to know why it rushed rather than the original 3 year time frame? Josh was also quite funny. Was chuckling along.
Another great interview from you Jordan with one of my favourite (former😞) Black Library authors. I see Josh has written a short story for Turnip28 which I intend to read soon.

Great interview! His Fabius Bile stories are some of my favorite 40k books, such fun ^^

I’d love to see more Shin stories
Ah man I really enjoyed the Eight Lamentations series, its a shame it never fully materialised but it was super awesome! 😊👌

I loved Josh’s take on the AoS universe… it’s a pity that GW ran him off
I enjoyed skulls, just felt I should say.
