i'm sorry, but the video somehow doesn't make sense in view of the title. I thought it was about why the iPad is not for your type of photography. @artjomkutuzov1350 16gb ram all the way I’ve used Logic Pro with multiple plugins I’ve edited DaVinci resolve with no crashes , at the Apple Store I tested it how I would use it and the 8gb apps crash . 1 crash is to many for me. I’ve experienced no crashes with 16gb ram model. I’m in love with mine .. I don’t have a laptop to bulky
got the ipad m2 for editing on the go and i can barely tell the difference from the old retina 4th gen ipad. I mean it was better... but a smaller difference than expected
I’ve been deciding for weeks between the ipad pro M1, M4 and air M2, I went with the M1 1TB. I only used it for carplay, lightroom and watching videos. I use my mac air for “heavier’ tasks.
I’m still running a 2018 ipad pro, battery is dying so have been looking for an upgrade option. 90% of it’s use is media consumption, as an ipad just can’t replace a laptop for me. LR mobile just isn’t compatible enough with LRC (file naming, keywords not transferring, external SSD support, slow af transfers, and the cloud gets filled so fast and is a pita to delete, etc), lumafusion is cool… but will probably be looking at the next mini.
Thanks for the input and for watching! I agree with what you said about LR mobile. I don’t mind using it on iPad but any serious editing always ends up being done on my MacBook
@@RanftEvan I just wish I could use it as an alternative to a mbp when traveling. But while doing quick edits on vaca with LRm is fine, taking several thousand raw files from iPad to LRC is a nightmare… especially when you can’t even add keywords for places. I just end up taking my laptop anyway.
Just gone from the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” to the 2022 M2 iPad Pro 11” - apps definitely open more quickly, but the old one was no slouch. It was only worth it because I got a deal and paid very little extra after selling my old one, but frankly the M2/M4 aren’t the upgrade Apple would have us believe.
Today priced an m2 and a m4 and it was a $300 difference between a refurbished m2 or brand new m4 same specs. Only a fool would save $300 for older tech.
Hey Evan, I can agree with you on some points for sure on this review. I feel that in my case (i didn't have an iPad before) this is a really good tool for work. I am mostly a video editor and I noticed I can use this when I travel and actually can edit videos on Davinci Resolve really well. It's not a replacement for my macbook pro, but definitely is a great complement.I feel your pain with having to buy all the new accessories, that's really a pain just because of 0,1 inch difference from the older iPads. In other words, I really like using this to work, but that's just me! Great unbiased review from your part! Cheers from Portugal!
Last week I bought a new iPad M4 and its restrictive OS which is only designed to use iPad M4 monster hardware as a tablet was disappointing. Why they don't let to boot Mac OS on it with bootcamp? Or just add some tablet features like what Microsoft did in its Surface to Mac OS and run it on iPad Silicone architecture? Apple marketing strategy!
Good video. For me it’s super worth it because I needed something better for my photography than an iPad Pro from 2015 with a battery that lasts one hour, and my only other machine is an M1 Mac Air. I never upgraded to any newer iPads in many years, and I’m sure there’s a ton of others like me that would find this upgrade worth it. Also, I considered just buying a used M2 iPad Pro or something like that, but the cost wasn’t significantly less, so it was worth it to get the latest tech for only a little more money. Given my tendencies, I’ll likely have this for the next 10 years as well. Lol
I really wish Apple would stop being so stubborn and do a version with Mac OS. Call it the Mac Touch - I’d buy one. The “pro” part is being gimped by the limitations of iPad OS and makes it little more than a toy capable of light work when needed.
I feel like iPads having the "Newest M series Chip" is just a marketing tactic.. Yes the M chips are insane, the OS doesen't take advantage of it's power.. get an M2 and you'll be happy. I downgraded from a M2 12.9" iPad Pro to a M2 iPad Air - no differences IMO while editing photos, emails, documents etc. As an apple fanboy "PRO" isn't always better.
i dont get it . i bought m2 12.9 ipad and after 10 15 mins it gets really hot and screen dims itself so i had to return .. now with m4s it gets hot but screen never gets dim.
To saw you were let down by the thinness is Crazy but the 11 inch is the way to go if you don’t have a iPad Pro with a M chip then it’s worth getting the on sale m2 iPad Pro or waiting till M4 is 100 off usually if your a Best Buy member
ok i bought it and no screem dimming whatsover, they fixed it i guess . but i bought 13 inch and im not happy with size. gonna return and purchase the new 11
Great Video :) - Yes, I think I'll just stick with my 12" iPad pro for now :) It does everthing and more for myself & in my creative Business!!! Great video and feedback...
I haven't had an iPad since the 2. I thought about it because my videos are all done on the iPhone. Maybe I will just start using a camera instead and just use my surface.
Good video. I’ve just upgraded to the 11” and 13” inch M4’s and the camera upgrade is what I was most interested in. To be frank, I live in a remote forest in SE Australia and these are my only cameras and I was hoping this would be about iPad photography rather than processing, Cheers, ☕️😎🦘.
I use the wide angle camera all the time. It’s great when you need an awesome wide angle shot. Apple can stuff it on this one. The iPad is way long overdue for having the same quality camera as the current top iPhone. Apple will never do it. Maybe in the year 2045 they may finally do it. Whoever they have on the team that creates the UI for the iPad along with the photo/video software are sound asleep and have never used an iPad for photography or moviemaking in the field. They also don’t use iMovie because they’ve totally screwed the audio editing with some AI crap that just creates more work as you fight with the software. This company had its heyday long ago and now just produces more profit units. We need some real competition in the marketplace for something far better than what Apple puts out for iPads. I love shooting video and photographs with the iPad. All the videos on my channel are primarily shot with an iPad. Now using a 6th gen one with the wide angle lens. See for yourself what it looks like and why it’s cool.
I have one where I show how I made mine but the best advice is to make sure your portfolio showcases whatever you want to be getting paid for. Align your body of work with your end customer 👍
Why dont you just take it back. No one is forcing you to upgrade. And you may want to change your title. Its misleading. Sounds like you dont think an iPad has a place in the workflow of a photographer. Which I would happily argue with you about. But after watching your video, although I may not share your all your views I dont think your saying it does not work in your workflow. You just dont think it's worth an upgrade to you! So dont! Apple has a great return program for those that dont feel their upgrade was worth it. I upgraded from the previous version. To me it WAS worth it so not everyone is going to agree with you on this one.
