There's something so satisfying about how the quick sort just drags blocks of the largest values to the right side. It's technically not the most efficient one but there's something about how effective it is with the amount of simplicity that it has that just makes it unique.
This video does a very good job at highlighting how the sort is working! i love sorting videos but most tend to be in black and white- the gradient, specially on bigger sorts like the first three, really help you understand how they're different and how the program determines what segment goes where.
I really like the Banshee/Bucket sort! It's relatively fast, and will get the set *reasonably* sorted very quickly. If you stop it after only a few runs, because you ran out of time or something, the end result is still going to be much tidier than before.
You might think that watching this video is wasting time, but it was recommended to me when I was procastinating from learning for my IT-Exam. So its quite helpfull, actually.
I think a better question is why did I watch a 17 minute video of different sorting algorithms that I don’t know how they work at 2 am when I have work tomorrow...?
Kinda just reminds me of old video games. First it randomizes the puzzle pieces and then you sort them yourself and when it’s perfectly sorted it ends with a theme played by the pieces and moves to the next level, makes me think of it as that.
