    Did using crushed blue metal rather than concrete stand up to the rain okay?

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  Год назад +1

      Yeah, it stands up to the rain fine. It's just a bit softer than concrete, so the ball doesn't bounce as high. It still works well, though.

    Hey great project am thinking of doing that in my backyard can you tell me was that crusher dust? does it break up with the ball hitting it in the same spot all the time? why not concrete? Steve

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  2 года назад +1

      The dust is called 'blue metal' and it is basically crushed rock. We didn't use concrete because it would cost too mush and it would be too hard for us to lay. Concrete would work better, but the blue metal works fine. If you were using the blue metal then you need to compact it a lot.

    Excellent job, JL. I am looking to setup one in my backyard. How many hours you had to work on it (total effort)? How long did it take you (total time in days/weeks)?

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  2 года назад +2

      Thanks. This took a few months to plan and build although we weren't working on this non-stop. Most of this time was deciding what sort of grass and netting to use. If you have a good plan, you could build this in around a month.

    Why did u put one of the poles like slotted in the metal and the others outside and zip tied ?

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  2 года назад +2

      It doesn't really matter but one of the poles had a slightly smaller diameter than the others and it couldn't fit around the metal pole.

    • @dempsycrace2534
      @dempsycrace2534 2 года назад +1

      @@JLsMakerSpace ok that’s brilliant thank you do u think if I put all the poles on the outside then zip tied them like you have will it be strong enough because I was planning on cutting 2x4 in half down the middle then putting it in the ground then zip tieing the pole to it ?

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  2 года назад +1

      @@dempsycrace2534 It depends on how big and heavy the net is. I think it will be strong enough but just test one first.

    Was that outside cricket matting or cheaper artificial grass?

    Great job 👏, how much did this cost? I am considering to make a similar thing to this.

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  Год назад +1

      This cost around $800 - $1000 AUD. You could probably make it for cheaper if you plan it out and research cheaper material options.

      @@JLsMakerSpace Thank you, 1 more question how much did the artificial turf cost? and what was the name of the product?

    • @JLsMakerSpace
      @JLsMakerSpace  Год назад +1

      @@jswn The turf cost about $300 all up I think. Just search for "artificial or synthetic Turf"
      I used one main big role for the pitch, then put cheaper squares around to save money.
      Here is some of the turf I used: www.bunnings.com.au/diy-turf-1-0-x-1-0m-x-7mm-synthetic-turf-mat_p3300314
