    I built an M4gery from PSA for a whopping $289 including a lower a few years ago (Black Friday sale). I had a carry handle already and it was ready to go. I've put at least 40, maybe 60, rounds through it without problems. Just as good! It's so good that if the SHTF, I'll grab my Geissele or LMT to make sure my PSA doesn't get any scratches on it.

    • @calholli
      @calholli 2 года назад

      @@5jjt Yeah.. there is a kit that's for the standard "low profile" gas block-- it slips over it and gives you a hole to drill through. Otherwise, you can just use a mill and drill your own.. Early on/ on a ghetto budget build, I just welded a little bead right in front of the gasblock-- to keep it from sliding forward. (I don't do it that way anymore). You have to cut it off if you ever need to get it apart (which is basically never).... Another good trick is to just get a Rifle with a front sight base (FSB) and cut off the top part of the sight--- so then it's basically a double pinned gas block-- and you can then slip on a better free floated handguard... You can do it even with a drill press if you take your time and go slow- But a Milling machine is your best move.

Zero malfunctions in a thousand rounds or so, typically use Wolf steel cased ammunition. I also own a few LMT's & a Geissele SD for reference, so not exactly a new or bargain bin shooter myself. Is it the best, of course not, but just keep the expectations low and you'll be happy for those interested.

    Built a PSA Lower with the LPK they sell and slapped a complete PSA free float upper on it. Haven’t changed a thing about it, and from the factory all of the parts fit well and haven’t had a malfunction yet. Then again, I clean my guns all the time because I don’t think you should shoot the shit out of them and expect them not to have a malfunction due to user laziness and lack of basic maintenance.
    It hasn’t had a problem running steel cased ammo, but I find that if you run steel cased ammo in PMAGS it’s really never an issue. I’ve seen BCMs not feed steel cased tulammo when using shittier quality aluminum GI mags, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a gun issue and is more of an issue with the GI mags. This is why it’s better to shoot brass cased in general.
    Unfinished Metal on unfinished metal has a lot of surface friction, and if you don’t have a slick surface like brass on the casing or a smooth surface on magazine feedlips, it’s gonna hang up while feeding. Try running some Magpul PMAGS with your steel cased ammo and see if it fixes your feeding problems.
    I have put almost a thousand rounds through my homebuilt PSA pistol, half of which was steel cased and haven’t run into a single issue you guys have, but mine is a sample size of 1. Sure as hell beats my stag15 though, which was significantly more expensive and has had a lot of issues QC wise.
