Hi to the crew of yacht Frida.Hope you are well. I had a Mamod steam engine as a kid and loved it. I was hoping to get that unforgettable aroma but that was fuelled by Methylated spirits and this engine is gas. Still a great thing to watch. All the best Paul.👍🏻⛵
Great boat! I run my boilers at about 30-40psi before starting then run engine and adjust heat for drop. You can find a balance point good for 5-10min of rc sailing.
Hi Matt, great to hear from you. Good to see you out on the water in your last vid. Funny you should comment on the steam engine. Just this week I fired it up for the first time in a long time. I have taken it to the park lake once and I forgot to take the gas refill. 😃 Im thinking of selling it as I am not getting the time to use it and it is a shame for it to sit around collecting dust. The problem is I do not like to get rid of anything😀 Looking forward to more of your vids mate.👍🏻⛵
@@SCCFORUM Yeah I figured it was about time I got it on the water. Ah that's a shame you forgot the gas. That'd make a cracking video, I imagine a lot of people would be interested in seeing it run. Where did you get hold of it if you don't mind me asking? cheers mate!
@@thesailingdonkey Hi Matt, I will probably get it on the water before selling and video it. I got it from a seller on ebay. An interesting guy, he had a lot of RC stuff including a 8 foot wingspan Spitfire.
Fabulous !
Oh that reminded me about my brother and I had an old steam engine when we where kids. Really fun to see/hear

Are you using proper steam oil and 220 oil for the rest of the moving parts🤔 The oil i saw you using wasn't proper steam oil
Hi Russell. The oil came with the boat and is marked up as steam oil. It is very thick compared to normal oil.
Very neat engine.
Great Machine!
absolutely fascinating stuff , remarkable , excellent job 👍
Cheers Mike. I find it mesmerising, I think I will get a full size one😂

Thank you for the comment. I have still not had the boat on the water yet. Just waiting for a nice day. 👍🏻
what model is the Clevedon steam engine and do you have any idea re the running time using that size boiler ( is it a 3 inch diameter boiler ) ?
Hey Paul, that's beautiful! Have you had a chance to get this on the water yet?
I have a Wilesco steam roller which I have a lot of fun with.
