- Hello everyone. This is an assembly video of Tamiya 1/35 ELEFANT. I tried to reproduce the weld marks using epoxy putty, which I had done only a little before. I am not satisfied with the result, but I think it was an experience that I can make use of in the future. One more thing, I used Zimmerit coating sheet for the first time. Here's a video of the results! Best regards!
Nice Job! doing big tanks is always exhausting, but yours totally worth it!!!!
Thank you! It's a really nice comment.
Great modelling build 👍
Thank you! I'm glad you commented.
Looking great!
Thank you! I always appreciate your comments.
Nice, zimmerit looks great!
Thank you! I'm glad you commented.
Looks great! Thanks for showing us both your failures and successes with that weld bead technique. I too have considered it, but I've been too frightened to try it. (And I remain too frightened.) Ralph
Thanks for the comment! I'm glad. If you try everything, you might see things you couldn't see. Have a great weekend!
Excellent stuff as usual. One thing I noticed, the gun shield appears to be upside-down.
Thank you! I'm glad you commented. Gun shield upside down? Seriously! I hadn't noticed that... lol
This is a big monster:D
yes!thank you👍
with the welds you have to let it sit in the groove for a few minutes so it will stick to the plastic
Thank you! I'll give it a try next time. Thanks for letting me know.
I found the exact same to happen with tamiya putty useless haha but then it's old stuff I used the newer stuff was better but the green stuff putty was just fantastic worked perfectly first time no faffing around lol 😂
Thanks for the comment. I see!!! Is it hard to use the old one? I didn't know that. I'd like to try the green putty.
I know this is six months old, but if you haven’t gone back to working with it yet, you just need to dampen it with water, from a small paintbrush
You should use metal wire for the tow cable. Do not tear apart paper: cut it strait with blade or scissor. Great work anyway!
thank you🙌
I use .015 solder wire. It's cheap, very malleable and in scale for 1/35. Order spools on Amazon... It is a much better solution than string.
The welds around the actual machine gun mount are extremely messy and consist of several beads of "pigeon shit" weld, on the vehicle loaned to Bovington at least.
I see. I'll learn something. Thanks.
Wery nice cast texture! If you want longer working time with the putty you can use Tamiya lacquer thinner with retarder or the mr leveling thinner. I guess you already know this, I dont like using cement for thinning putty because I think it dries too fast.
Thank you! You're right, I thought the putty was drying too fast! LOL I guess you're right. I'll give it another try when I get a chance.
