  • A solo 5 day 2300km Australian Snowy Mountains adventure ride. I take my DRZ400E from Sydney to some of the highest and steepest tracks Australia has to offer. I travel and explore the Victorian, New South Wales and Canberra's High Country. This trip truly tested man and machine with swollen river crossings and slippery hill climbs. Sit back and enjoy some of Australia's premium adventure riding locations. This is part 2 of a 2 part series.

    Replace your stock air fuel mixture screw with a R&D flex jet you may have to file the hole in the fuel bowl abit untill you can fit the flex jet through it to tune for the altitude differences on the go basically just turn your idle down and ajust the flex jet/ fuel air mixture screw left and right until you achieve peak RPMs inbetween the stutters each direction then readjust the idle screw to desired idle rpms it's fairly simple and straight forward

    Mate your trips are bloody legendary !! Full commitment !! Video content & down to earth Aussie commentary even about the roos & number 2's 🤣🤣👌.. I got my DRZ new a year ago, now have 2 other mates with same bikes 😃. I've done a few camp trips now & also go solo at times. We're often in the Vic High Country..... Very similar riding to you, mostly the harder off-road stuff..... we're hovering around the 50yr old mark so a bit older but damn fun watching your adventures. Top of the class in your apprenticeship I reckon 🤣🤣👍👍 Cheers for the great vids

      @OFF-ROAD DOWNNUNDER, awesome stuff. The DRZ is a great workhorse to have. I’d love to muck around out there unloaded. I’d be happy to try any track if that was the case. Thanks for the compliments. Hopefully I’m still kicking and riding at 50. 👍

    Mate Im just in the process of watching your clips. Bloody fantastic effort.
    Just 1 wee tip.....Please stop freewheeling.. (turning your engine off) This is why your front brakes are fading badly...because you are relying 100% on your breaks alone and we always bias more to the front brakes. The fluid will boil and result in zero brakes.
    Leaving your engine running...Idling down using minimal breaks evens out breaks AND Engine breaking (compression) to slow you down.
    If your bike gets away on you while freewheeling chances are that you wont get it in control again and end up binning it.
    I hope that helps mate.
    Keep up the adventures 😁

The ride over Hotham was 2 degrees and foggy and only slightly warmer when I went back over Falls Creek to Omeo, I wish I had your weather. Thanks mate. No real reason. Probably just a bad habit I guess from being in too many situations where the bike was struggling to start. Like stuck on a hill or cold temperatures and leaving it running was the safest thing at the time.

    Great videos Lance, well done, you’re a great communicator. I also have a Drz400 and am heading to the Alpine region in May, is there any mods or tuning I should do to the carby to handle the altitude and lower oxygen ? Cheers

    • @The_Apprentice_Adventurer
      @The_Apprentice_Adventurer  2 года назад

      @Paul Goldie, mate I seriously wouldn’t worry about it. Mine played up a little bit, but it was so short lived as the mountains descend as quick as they ascend. The bike will run fine overall and may just be a bit sluggish on the highest spot. But it’s not high enough to cause alarm. If you rejet the carby for heights then you have the same problem when going to normal altitudes. I think for Australia we can get by just fine in the carby bikes. Good luck on your trip.
