    For reference, this was after the second game they played. I didn't know they would play a tie. Also, I'm trying to recoup some of the costs of covering MSI. Would love your assistance! My Patreon is closing in on $2k, which is great!

    Without Travis there, we would not have gotten this Duo interview. We're lucking out pretty hard, and I don't think people truly realize how much it would cost to do this. Flights to Europe and then Paris, plus hotel for him and Brodin for 2 weeks??? That's gotta be like $5k at least. Appreciate everything you're doing Travis, keep it up!

    • @TravisGafford
      @TravisGafford  6 лет назад +55

      It's gonna be about $15k for my total costs of covering the event I think. Thanks for the kind words =)

      pinexxful I'm not sure about fees and stuff but I'm sure he had to pay some players for interviews and maybe some fees to riot for covering, business ventures usually cost much more than your average consumer venture

    • @TravisGafford
      @TravisGafford  6 лет назад +6

      Because of Holidays in Berlin (I think) flights were about 3300 for me and Brodin each (also have to fly to Paris, so it disrupts the roundtrip cost savings).

      The key is to shut up and let the players talk, too many interviewers want to stick to a script and get player soundbytes. I pretty much just want to hear DL and Rekkles shoot the shit, and if Travis can enable that - that's perfect.

    This was such a good interview. Rekkles really is a humble dude when it comes down to his play/what he can do to improve & other things. I love the dynamic between these two guys. I hope interactions like this can help unify NA and EU as an entire Western, like, Super-Region through the rest of MSI and in future international tournaments. Of course when they're playing against each other, NA>EU, NA LUL, etc., etc., but otherwise... WEST IS BEST

    • @onespiker

      my dude, you are too optimistic for this world... ill give this a month maximum until people start the nonsense again. "NA > EU. Dont you remember rIfT rIValS?! herp derp" "EU > NA. we won wOrlDs 7 YEarS agO. huehue"
      its like the 4th and 5th place arguing who is better, while other people walk away with medals. the false sense of north american pride will continue to challenge an imaginary construct of EU that is actually 28 different countries with none of them identifying as "EU" but their own country. the madness will continue. im highly annoyed by NA disrespecting, losing, and then want to be friends for 2 weeks until they forget and start over. like, make up your mind... either we're on a team or not.

    Travis is such a blessing for the e-sport community?? It's truly great to have that sort of "personalised" interviews, more on a casual side which don't feel stiff and distant. It often nicely shows what players are like and I'm all in for that. To me it's never been about numbers and rankings, who's considered the best or whatnot - it's all about the people and their character, and that's what we can get thanks to Travis.
    Bless

    I actually love the respect both these players have for each other. The best thing is, you can't find interviews like this anywhere else except at Gafford Industries.co LOOL
    On a serious note tho, IMO doublelift outperformed Rekkles this time around at MSI. I felt like Rekkles had bad picks and was too scared to walk up sometimes. Doublelift however went ham at MSI. He literally put the team on his abck every game with 40% or higher of the teams dmg every game and his Kaisa 1v5 delayed penta will always give me goosebumps.
    I wanna see Rekkles go ham vs RNG. He has to stop being scared of Uzi tho. Anyway, I hope to see FNC go to the finals and hopefully (i know this may be audacious of me to say so lol) win MSI.

    • @ProxyQt
      @ProxyQt 6 лет назад

      Yea, I also feel like DL outperformed Rekkles individually, but as you mentioned, big part of it might have been the picks. Another factor to consider were their respective supports, both of whom imho underperformed compared to their usual performance, especially Olleh with the whole breakdown and all that (except the morgana game where he went nuts).

    • @CmereHabibti
      @CmereHabibti 6 лет назад

      yup, 100%. The supports were actually ass. I think Hylisang was a lot better than Olleh this time around however. Olleh just pissed me off. Especially in the tie breaker vs FNC. He missed 3 crucial devours on TK......I believe he will come back stronger however.

    • @maartenruyssen3244
      @maartenruyssen3244 6 лет назад

      Olleh always had the better laning supports than hilly though, tahm in lane is actually really good while braum is just only good for (threatening) an all-in. But I agree that doublelift outperformed rekkles, definitely in team fights but also in lane even when considering the picks.

    • @onespiker
      @onespiker 6 лет назад

      Maarten Ruyssen the pickd have alot to do with preformence. Look at the tie breaker where Rekkles had returned somewhat.

    double is only 24 and rekkles is 21?!? i feel like these guys have been playing forever. the age argument is silly though. there are world class fighting game players in their mid 30's. a big chunk of the top players are late 20's early 30's and a fighting game is more "mechanics" intensive and reflex intensive than league. the issue with league and esports in general i think is just the amount of time spent playing. its not age that makes you retire its drive and passion. playing for 16 hours every day for a decade tire you out. its not that you physically cant be at a top level but mentally doing that kind of practice for years and years is just not sustainable i think

Western teams need to work together and share knowledge if we have any chance of being competitive versus the Asian teams. LMS and LPL are really looking stronger than ever (including season 2 imo).
