This is something that I absolutely did not expect. I've never gotten into Epic War Saga, but the first Epic War 1-5 are definitely among my favorite games of all time. I hope I will be able to be part of this revival.
You are an absolute hero for doing this, the Epic War franchise was something that I have adored for years. I remember full completing Epic War 2, 4, and 5, and then losing saves and doing it again for 4 and 2. I even tried Epic War Saga at one point, but it wouldn't let me progress at all after a certain point, either due to a glitch or paylock. Listening to this video with the tracks and knowing where they are all from was such a nostalgia trip. I wish you only the best of luck with this project, and I eagerly await the day where I can purchase it on steam and do it all again!
Seeing Epic War finally coming back brings me so much joy, as someone who started playing the games years ago. I would love to see the first 5 games finally return and be put onto steam, as flash games are no longer supported. Once the games have been brought back, and if you decide to do anything with saga (I never played saga as I only played the first 5 games, so I don't know what saga entails), creating a new game entirely would be amazing to see. If so, I feel like incorporating a lot of the good things each game had while making sure the new game stands out and is unique in its own way would be best. You want a sense of familiarity for old players while creating something new and rich for new players. Something all players can enjoy. I wish you and your teams luck on your journey to return Epic War. I and many others are patiently waiting.

Was archiving my old kongregate playlist today, and saw the news about epic war, this is so exciting. epic war 3 is my fav of the five, but knowing it isnt dead is really nice.
If we try to approach it from an unbiased perspective, it will all come down to whether the paladin can pull off a hit. The paladin's mighty strike would be devastating to a glass cannon like the tiger warrior, but they are also moderately slow to move and even slower to attack. The tiger warrior will have a head start in attacking with his giant sword, but since one or two slashes almost certainly won't be enough to bring down a tank, the real deciding factor would be whether the tiger can knock the paladin into the air with its sword spin. Not a cut-and-dry faceoff scenario, but the paladin should have higher chances of winning a one-on-one duel. That being said, increasing the number of warriors on each side also increases the tigers' advantage since they attack first with their long AOE swords. Paladins are also AOE, but if 5 paladins are clumped up together against 5 tigers, they will die almost as easily as 1 paladin and so are unlikely to get to attack. An intense fight to be sure, but I know whom I'm cheering for. ;)
Would it be possible to do a system similar to Halo MCC where you can go between the original and remaster visuals? Also, would it be possible to make it a "legacy" game mode where its all the original content, as in visuals and game mechanics, of the games as a way to go down memory lane?
All I can say right now as far as visuals are concerned is that, with our current limitations, it would be infeasible to remaster all the existing visuals in the current games. New visuals will mainly go towards new, never seen before, content. As for game mechanics, nice point - at the very least the Flash versions of the games will remain freely distributed for anyone who wants to experience the games as they were back in the day.
I really liked epic war 3 and 4 and i kinda hope if there is another game its a bit more like that (i just played through all of them again) I mean seeing how plague inc. costs money on steam i would also be okay paying stuff if the game is good
Real question though, how much does it cost to buy a franchise like this? (if you could give a range or so) I have a game dev studio too but make my own licenses. Was it even profitable for them to make the Epic War games? I'm really confused about the business model of then flash games Also, why not contact the artists who used to work on Epic War games for EW6 artwork?
It really depends on the circumstances. I'd expect a 4-digit or even 5-digit price to be the norm for Flash game series, but some developers are happy to part with their games and make some more money in the process, while others wouldn't want to sell the rights because they plan to continue working on it, or even for sentimental value. Kongregate provided artlogicgames with a fixed budget for Epic Wars 1-5, in turn making money on ad revenue. That's why, starting from Saga, the series switched to microtransactions as their source of revenue. We plan to keep IAPs in the Saga remake planned for the future, but EW1-5 will cost a flat price on Steam. A lot of the original artists were a direct part of artlogicgames, and it's been many years, so it might make more sense to assemble a new team of artists. Here's hoping it all goes smoothly!
btw if you re release the epic war games on steam, will you improve the overall gameplay of epic war 2? That was my favorite of them all, for example nerfing the tower. Currently so far even if the game is extremly fun and the feel of the game just feels like you are bringing an entire army to destroy the enemy, It is kinda like a waiting simulator, where you kill enemies with tower, just upgrade until you can max the entire army and then you destroy the enemy base, and then you repeat, When i was a kid epic war 2 was hard, but now It is just a waiting to upgrade everything and then destroy everything kinda game.
Another thing, this is about the balance of epic war saga. Will void units have any elemental boosting items? because so far they are not desirable and very useless in the game. My reaper has more than twice the stats than my arch angel when they are supposed to have similar stats, and that is because I have a lot of water boosting items.

А вот ремейк Саги мы хотим сделать масштабным и развёрнутым, так что для него понадобится не только много времени, но и бюджет. Эта игра будет заточена под мобильные устройства, но играть можно будет и на ПК. Пока что прогресс получается делать с ограниченной скоростью, так как нет возможности работать над проектом на постоянной основе. Но всё равно куча работы над первыми пятью играми уже проделана, и по Саге есть довольно выстроенные планы. Буду рад как можно быстрее выпустить продукт, когда он будет достойного качества, и спасибо за поддержку!
Are you going to going to set the same "achievements" to unlock the special units from the first games ? (Dwarves, hobbits, etc) I really loved those games being a kid and i was really saddened when i learned that flash lost its light. Thank you for your initiative in their revitalisation. Best of luck. Ihad lost all hope a long time ago for epic war saga when the developers changed very few things after the relaunch and were focusing on skins and other less important things I also had ideas of buying the rights but. with 0 programing skills it would have not been a good idea I have been loving the epic war series since almost the beginning. Started playing when epic war 3 wasnt even out yet. I have many thoughts and concepts of what could be aplied or changed to epic war saga. Currently im playing epic heroes war (mobile game) and am constantly trying to contact the developers to have a look at ews since its VERY simmilar and many ideas could be borrowed. Compared to wpic war saga epic heroes war is TRASH but as far as i know they still make quite a lot of money. a VERY long time ago (BEFORE THE RELAUNCH) in a discord server. i got in touch with a developer at artlogic and he seemed to love my ideas but sadly the game went bust. You had resparked my interest in epic war saga. I will be activelly checking your chanel. I beg of you dont mess it up like artlogic The game can be very proffitable for sure. But i believe more people would play on mobile
Mobile is indeed the target platform for the EWS remake (will likely still release on the web and Steam, but mobile has priority). Epic war saga was good but it was not successful (i define success as being able to generate income) there are many things that artlogic games got right but improvements can be made for sure. I highly recomend checking epic heroes war (divmob games) to learn, based from some simple research ( simple= maybe wrong, take it with a grain of salt) thay have about 10k monthly downloads for epic heroes war. on average generates 6 cents per download per month. But i play the game A LOT and i know that they are crippling their income. They give out FREE giftcodes to all players that give items powerfull enough to blast through 85% of the entire game. They constantly generate gems ( ingame premium currency) efter a few weeks of playing the game is just about collecting different characters like trading cards. Its infested with hackers also. And is STILL able to generate income

And marketing is obviously essential in getting a good game to take off. There's also the matter of balancing F2P monetization in an ethical way that would let players play for free and not exploit them for money, yet still encourage spending enough to keep the game alive. Lots of nuance here, but I think it's important to focus on making a game good before focusing on making it successful.

Right now you can play every epic war games with supernova, so it is actually not really gone. But it will breathe new life into the games for sure.
