I'm a documentary photographer living in Mallow, my son goes to school in Buttevant and I'd like to cover this on Friday, any advice for a good time to head down? Great video btw
Apologies, Only seeing your comment now. More and more Fairs break out the evening before so a lot of the action sale shots will be the day before the Fair. From what we were told this year a huge volume of sales were the day before and the horses were taken away before the Fair Day itself. You could see the volume of horses on the street on Fair Day were less than normal as a result. So to answer your question, go the evening before and 10.30 onwards on the day itself. I hope you got some nice shots. Gail
Thanks for your feedback. I suppose the fact that I know nothing about horses might have caused this!!! What would you suggest I cover, footage of horses or if there are questions I should ask about them, what would you like me to ask? Many thanks in advance for your advice.
Great video really enjoyed it. If you do another one can you do more on the horses ..their ages and how much they are selling for etc be really interesting to know. Thanks x
Thanks for your suggestions. I filmed Puck Fair yesterday and did much more interviewing on the back of your suggestion. As I actually know very little about horses I'm not sure what people would like to know or what to ask. I don't think I'd get a price out of most on camera!! What else should I ask?
You''d be lucky to get honest answers, for selling reasons the age is usually stated younger & the price is expected to be haggled over so is usually inflated. Horse ages can be figured out thru looking at their teeth so it's best to read books or look on line to teach yourself.
It would be sad to lose the custom of horse fairs/auctions completely. A lot of dealers buy these horses, to transport and raise ££££'s. Where will they buy their stock from, if these places disappear?
Wormy & partly neglected horses are much quieter & easy to control especially by men with little idea of horse husbandry. Because certain men own numerous animals doesn't for 1 minute mean they know how to care or train them correctly. Not all owners are the same however!!
@@janegrieve I have had 1st hand experience of trying to get help for horses of Cork City animal protection & they were worse than useless. This is a few yrs ago now but animal welfare groups in Ireland are very non-existant or terrified of certain groups for fear of upset.
Well put together video , you got all the good stuff !

I came expecting to see a video about horses but was quite dissapointed when the vid turned out to feature mostly people.

THE COPS HAD THEONLY DECENT HORSES, THEY SHOULD RAISE THERE STANDARDS,
Cared for, fed correctly & regularly wormed also not for sale so the input of ca£h isn't so important to a bottom line!
I read somewhere that traveller men die short of the national average mainly due to diet, after watching this video it's hard to believe!!
Amigo buena cuando ai feria porai

they poor horses are neglected and not very well cared for, it's a shame 😕 for that country 😡
ermmm okay

Best people ever
I never seen such depressed horror ponies
Me too, it's a shame for that country, poor neglected horses and animals 😢
These are the 1s they show, it's possible to see much worse neglected horses.
That poor donkey at 29 minutes needs a good feed 😢
I edited out some upsetting footage of a donkey. A horse fair is a hard place to be when you are an animal lover
@@gaothmhor I have heard about them, Ireland need to get more proactive when it comes to animal welfare some shocking things go on 😩
@@gaothmhor I wouldn't edit out anything. Show the reality
I feel sorry for those neglected, unloved horses and the poor donkey, 😢 😞

Don't want this get rid pls
???
Just because you don’t want this doesn’t mean they should take it down, they would need a lot of people to say take it down
??????????
