Uh? The dignity of the sport ? You must be joking. The dignity left F1 long ago.

It was Bernie's rightful take on "dignity"...He kept Formula 1 exclusive, aloof, an elevated & private environment for those only he chose could enter, & put the on-track racing first & foremost... So yes, it did have dignity that is now seemingly disappearing year on year.

The Dignity ship sailed when Sky Sports took over F1. Sky's build up programmes and "features" are unwatchable fillers between adverts and their presenters stink (Brundle is the only exception). I know they are aiming their programming at kids these days but it is barely a sport any more.

Hang on, Ted Kravitz, Naomi Schiff and Bernie Collins are good, too. But i agree about Sky’s over-production of shows and features. Side Note; Please keep Danica off the air. Keep all the others but for the love of the racing gods, no more Danica Patrick.

This was inevitable when liberty bought it. And I anticipate it to continue. They might try to find a balance between stylish and trashy. And in fairness, it happened in America before liberty owned it.

Frankly I don't like watching the races anymore (I certainly won't be going to one). It's just a festival with a bit of racing on the side these days. It's way too false and about the spectacle now. I only follow the results.

As a very long time fan I am disappointed in most of the changes in F1. I really dislike the sprint races and the glitter that has come with the Liberty Media organization. Three races in America says a great deal and for me that is not a bonus. This really has turned into a situation where money has become the "only" driver of what happens next and we have lost some of the "purity" of the race. But I am only one person; and there is no stopping change..

I totally agree. Formula 1 Does Not Need all the razz-a-matazz that other motor sports resort to. I'm a big fan of the KISS principle - 'Keep It Simple, Stupid'. I've not been happy with the way things have gone, since Virgin Media took over F1 from Bernie. Agreed, Bernie's way of running the sport wasn't perfect and the whole system was biased towards Ferrari, but we had a set number of races per year and that was more than enough. This year we have 24 races, which is far too many. There are a number of races I would like to see dropped from the calendar; in particular, the 'Convoy' races on Street Circuits, which are too narrow to allow safe overtaking and where Racing - in the true meaning of the word - is not possible. As much as I hate to say it, that includes Monaco and in particular, Singapore. Baku is another one. And now that Sochi is off the table, I'd like to see it scrapped permanently. And as for getting rid of Spa... if Virgin do that, F1 is going to lose a lot of viewers; as they will if the British GP is dropped. Russ. UK

The dignity went out the window long ago lol I haven;t watched an F1 race live in years. Couldn't care less any more. Too many gimmicks, not enough hard racing. I mean F1 still has a problem of slow drivers in front no longer willing to defend position and overtaking being as easy as the push of a button and that problem has existed for about 10 years now.
Every era of F1 prior to the current one saw better racing.

  • @michael_houghton

Some of F1 dignity will come back once Lance Stroll is gone. So I say let's start with that, please?

Right. When he started in on F1 not being IndyCar and NASCAR when there are drivers in both those series that would beat Stroll and a couple of other drivers of F1 given the same car and some time to learn the car is absurd.
