You carry so much momentum, really fun to watch. Sounds like you have that 125 jetted perfectly. What hitch hauler is that? Thinking about going that route.
How do you have your jetting set up, pilot, mane, and needle? I just bought this bike and it runs like garbage with how the stock jetting is. I live in upstate New York elevation between 300 and 1000.
I am 835 ft of elevation. NECJ-2 slot (Suzuki needle) 162 main 52 pilot 1.5 out air screw It runs good. Needs a little more work. Only thing it doesn’t do good is dead engine starts for racing. But other than that. It runs good and doesn’t foul plugs. Stock jetting was trash lol
@@STFCompound yeah I’m struggling with it. I had it decent but if I’m coasting and grab a had full of throttle it almost dies. DCL 3rd clip, 185 main, 48 pilot.
@@STFCompound Have you tested different needle jet clip positions ? I have put the Suzuki RM 250 2 stroke NECJ needle in mine and it feels much crisper but maybe feels a bit lean in mid to high revs. l'm gonna drop the needle clip position tomorrow and see what that does.
How does the power compare on your 2023 vs your 2021 YZ125X? I heard on the YZ125 they lost bottom end on the new models is that the case on the 125X too?
Yes the 2023 is slower on the bottom end. It’s faster up top. Personally I’m not a fan of this new 2023 model. It comes sprung way too heavy in the rear. They went from a .46 to a .48. The .48 sucks for me. So I had to go back to a .46. No big deal. But there was no reason to spring it that heavy. I prefer more bottom end power than top end. So I like the motor on the 2020 125X better. Eventually I’m going to throw a 36 carb on it and see if that changes it at all. Because the new bikes have 38s on them. The stock jetting absolutely sucks too lol. Hope this helps. Still a great bike. But I prefer the older model because it’s great right from the shop.
@@STFCompound What elevation(s) do you typically ride at with those jet settings? I also have a '23 I am getting dialed in, I have the same jetting as you except a 162 main and its still a little boggy on the needle going onto the pipe
between the 250x and 125x which do you prefer as the "go to bike" i'm on a older ktm 250exc and am torn on which one to go with and can't really ride either one without buying one?
250X for sure! I’m significantly faster on it. At the moment, the only bike I have is this 125X. So that’s what I’m racing this year 😂. Can never go wrong with a YZ250X tho. Hands down the best bikes I’ve ever owned
@@STFCompound alright awesome, thanks for the reply. I'm torn between 3 at the moment, yz125x, yz250x and yz250fx, they're all really good bikes from what I'm seeing.
@@Jeremy_811 ahh. 250X vs 250FX is a hard one. I rode a 2021 at my house (video on my channel) and it’s an amazing bike! FOR ME, a stronger map and maybe a pipe would be soooo good. But in all reality, I don’t want to spend the big price tag for that 4 stroke.
@@STFCompound I haven't rode either but I'd love to, I've watched your video on the 250fx as well as probably a thousand others 😂. I'm just kinda in the same boat with the money part of one.
@@Jeremy_811 if I was trying to race gncc competitive every weekend. I would 100% be on a 250Fx. As far as the 4 strokes go. It’s the best I think. But my 250X is a single track killer
Right on my man!! Both bike and rider are dialed. The jetting is spot on perfect. You really know how to set up a 125 2T!!

Does the bike come with a jetting kit?
So I’ve heard/read about the jetting being way off on these things from the factory, any truth to that?
Yup! I’m currently at a 168 main, 52 pilot and a NYDF needle on the 2nd slot from the top
