To clarify, that adapter isn’t to drop from 20 to 15 Amos. Amps are changed via the button as you demonstrated, with 8,10,13, and 16 amps. You should have a 20 amp circuit for using the 13 or 16. A 15 amp circuit can safely only sustain 12., so you should then only run it at 8 or 10. The adapter is for volts, not amps. The adapter is for those with 120v, vanilla household outlets Without the adapter, it expects 240 volts, which also doubles your charge speed. If your wiring is able to handle it, you could change vanilla 120v outlets to 240v (with a double pole 15 or 20amp breaker and new outlets). This would get you 3 or 4 kw charge speeds over standard home wiring.
In order to enter "charge on demand" mode it's necessary to hold the A button for 5s while it's not plugged into the car. This is not documented anywhere in the manual.
I have used this charger for about a year with my Id.4 and it’s working great, but it will not charge u less I open the app and “Swipe to start”. I cannot find any documentation about this. I know you said you haven’t used the app, but any ideas you know of on how to make it “plug and charge”?
I think that is a setting to enable swipe to start. Mine just starts charging as soon as it's plugged in. Go here: amzn.to/3S07uUK. If you scroll down on the page, there is a link to the PDF version of the user manual. Download that and check that setting. I am pretty sure you can turn that setting off.
@@SeidelRanchReviewsthank you for the reply. I have the manual and unfortunately it doesn’t touch on this issue anywhere. Definitely a top frustration with this cable to not be able to use it without an app and no way I can find to turn it off. The manual is only talking about the version with a screen and doesn’t touch on the versions without.
Thanks for the video. If it is plugged in during a power failure and power is restored, does it resume charging at the highest current setting (very bad), remember the last setting (perfect), or wait for a human to set it again before charging (acceptable)?
I will have to test that and let you know. I do know for our Volts though, even if the setting is high it will only charge as fast as the volts will allow. So even if the charger was set to 16 amps, if the Volts are set to 8 amps that is all they will draw.
I just received it today I bought it from Home Depot however since I live in Oregon and it usually rains 8 months out of the year would you know can I charge in the rain ? Thanks 😊
This charger is working great for our two Chevy Volts. You can check out this product here: amzn.to/3Eeoyia. Thanks for watching!

Thanks. Good to know. Since it only had 3 prongs, I thought it was 120v 20 amp VS 120v 15 amp. Thanks for the info.

I just gone mine and it is a good replacement for the one that came with the car.
Very true. Glad you like it.
In the video wish you said how many miles an hr it does on each setting
That is more dependent on your vehicle. Like our volts will add about 3 miles each hour using the 120v charger that came with the car.
Does the R button delay charging start? Or do you have to use the app for scheduling charging? Have you tried the app at all?
I loaded the app, but we don't really use it. You can setup charging times in the app.

@@Wayner1983 Weird. If I find the answer I will reply with it.
Is it OK to leave this plugged in to the wall all the time? I don't wanna keep unplugging
We leave ours plugged in all the time. I hope it's ok. It should be fine.

@@SeidelRanchReviews You can only set the Amps on the Volt in regards to lvl1 charging (8 or 12). lvl 2 it'll request about 16 amps on my 2017 Volt.
@@mattodell1902 I think it's the same on the older volts like we have. Thanks.

We are in Texas, where rain evaporates before it gets to us on the ground, but we charge our cars even if it's raining. It should be fine.
@@SeidelRanchReviews I believe we will find out soon enough lol it’s not like I’m going to take a water hose and hold it on it lol
Do you know how to connect it to Smart Life app?
I have not connected it to Smart Life. This does have it's own app though.
@@SeidelRanchReviews what's the name of the app for this one?

i'm struggling with connecting to Smart Life... always error.. What App you use?
Very good !!!!🙂
Thank you! 😃
