    I have the Yukon and my wife just got mesa xl. We used hardwood pellets filled up to burn holes in mesa and it burned for about an hour, flame went out so we kept adding pellets but it kept going out. I think tinder is the way to go. The pellets turn into a big pile of charcoal lol you’d have to dump out and start all over. Cool review and great idea for morning coffee 👍

    Ordered one today. Stainless. Had the Mesa since it was released. Enjoyed it though it’s just too small. May be suitable for an apartment patio, otherwise it’s the size of a large candle. Almost too difficult to find wood for it and it suffocates too quickly with pellets.

    • @DonoTrap
      @DonoTrap  Год назад +1

      Nice! I bet the stainless looks great. Have you tried pellets with it?

      @@DonoTrap didn’t receive my Mesa XL yet. But pellets burn poorly in the regular Mesa. So bad I’ve stopped using them. They burn hot but don’t burn to ash. Rather to black coals that restrict airflow until they suffocate the fire. Hoping that Mesa XL has addressed this issue with more surface area.

      @@dono6200 pellets in the Mesa XL and really even wood in it are superior to the traditional Mesa. Perhaps their engineers finally noticed. It must’ve been too small to support proper airflow. Tbh the Mesa XL functions exactly as that regular Mesa should have.

    I totally agree with you that they should have had a removable ash tray. I just opened mine today and was baffled trying to figure out how to empty it. I came to your site hoping that you were gonna show how. Well I guess I’m just gonna have to turn it over I just don’t know how they come out of those small hole?🤷‍♀️
    Other then that nice job showing us yours.

    • @DonoTrap
      @DonoTrap  Год назад

      Yeah, just tip it over and shake the ash out. It comes pretty clean most of the time. Appreciate you watching!

    In my opinion that black smoke is coming from the wood you use. It looks you are burning some type of pine or even fat wood. Switch to a hard wood and you won’t have that black smoke or soot.

  • @Borders14

    Does the ceramic coating change color (patina) with use?

    • @DonoTrap
      @DonoTrap  Год назад +1

      So far it has not! I haven’t heard much about other peoples changing color either.

  • @MusicAMG
    @MusicAMG Год назад +1

    It's the wood... Pine has an oil in it, pine oil, which makes the smoke.. so, I wouldn't use pine at all, in any fire pit.
