  • I was backer 452 of the AAWireless Indiegogo campaign. In this video, I unbox the product and show how I connected it for the first time.
    AAWireless Indiegogo Campaign - www.indiegogo.com/projects/aa...
    From the Indiegogo Page:
AAWireless - the name says it all
Do you have an Android Auto compatible car or multimedia unit?
Would you love to be able to connect wirelessly without the use of cables?
Don't want to spend a fortune on upgrading your multimedia unit or the whole car, if that is even possible?
Is your phone running Android 9 or higher?
    AAWireless is the answer.
AAWireless is a simple Plug & Play device which allows your Android Auto compatible unit to use a WiFi connection instead of connecting the phone with a USB cable.
    How does it work?
Simply connect the AAWireless box to your car's USB port and forget about it.

Cool video. Saw the New Found Glory in the player so I had to leave a comment to say you have great taste.

I'm very curious to know if your Sync 3 error "USB hubs are not supported" is causing the issue during boot up. That pop-up may allow power to pass through but may block data until you close it. The only way to know would be to try it in a car with a stock Sync 3 setup. When plugging your phone directly into the USB port, does Android Auto start if you don't close the pop-up? I'm still waiting for mine (batch

So as an update, have never had it not connect when getting into the vehicle. Most of the time it's around 30 seconds or so, sometimes as long as 2 to 3 minutes, but very rarely. So while I do think my setup is slightly strange, I don't think my particular setup with the USB error is causing an issue.

i had an issue with AA wireless not connecting on my JVC deck in my older truck. i had to play with some AA settings and it seemed to work. i also wonder if it would work better with the upgraded USB hub with the higher power rating?

Hi, informative video, have you compared music quality (especially the bass) output when connected via AAWireless and wired android auto
Please let me know your observation on music quality and also if changing proximity of phone to AAwireless makes any difference

I just got mine a few days ago. I have a 2017 Explorer with syc 3.4 (I updated to get googe maps directions in the gauge cluster ) I had to mess with the settings to keep AAwireless from crashing after each song played via RUclips Music. So far I set it up for USB direct and passthrough. It works but its still a little laggy. It has stopped crashing though.

Thanks for this video. I appreciate you testing this in the detail that you did. If you make a quick stop at a gas station store (as an example) where you get out and in of car within minutes apart, does everything start up properly when getting back in the car? I'm trying to see if you need a certain amount of time between turning off car and turning it back on to make it work

So, in doing more testing, the unit connects again without issue on my daily drives to work. Where it seems to have an issue is literally what you described, stopping very briefly at a gas station to fill up, then it seems to have trouble, not always, but most of the time. I plan on doing a follow up video with some random testing of different scenarios as it seems to work well most of the time, but not in these certain scenarios.

I was backer Number 58. Mine works great in a 2018 Audi Q5 Prestige with a Samsung Galaxy S8+. When I installed it, the app kept spinning towards the end, but when I restarted the app, everything was working just fine.,

I have heard that android auto now supports split screen on widescreen cars. Just wonder, have you played with the DPI settings to try and emulate it via aawireless? And if so, can you make a video on it?

Sadly my vehicle does not yet have that update yet so I cannot test either :(

Looks like your car has some kind of power delivery on standby enabled for some time after power down. Basically your car is still sending power to the USB ports even when it's off for some time, thus not allowing the Android auto unit to power cycle right after the car is turned off. Check if once your car is turned off the activity light on the Android auto unit is still blinking? If it is still blinking then this confirms that there is power being delivered even when the car is off. This proves why when you manually disconnect and reconnect or you wait for the power on standby period to end you are getting a proper power cycle and Android auto is launching on your head unit as expected afterwards.

I will take a look at this and see how long it is remaining active and follow up.

I have not tried to connect this to a 2nd phone, not even sure if that is possible. But, I will try to test it out and do a follow up video with this as one of the tests.

Appreciate the video but lord it's poorly shot. Why not just go to Spotify or an app rather than blacking out the screen. Thanks anyway.

    • @fixingthings
      @fixingthings  3 года назад +5

If you notice, this is kind of what I had done, but my Android Auto automatically boots into Google Maps, so until I am able to change the screen on initial connection, that is why I continue to have to black the screen out, as it showed exactly where I live on the screen every time. Your suggestions sadly does not work as Google Maps will still default to the app being shown even if the last thing I was doing was looking at Spotify.
