ব‍্যারাকপুরের তালপুকুর অঞ্চলে, গঙ্গার পাড়ে অবস্হিত‍ দক্ষিণেশ্বর মন্দিরের মত দেখতে মন্দিরটি মা অন্নপূর্ণা মন্দির। রানি রাসমনির ছোটো মেয়ে জগদম্বা দেবী ১৮৭৫ সালের ১২ই এপ্রিল এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন সে সময় চাণক গ্রামে, যা আজকের ব‍্যারাকপুর। মন্দিরের প্রধান আরাধ‍্য দেবী হলেন অষ্টধাতুর নির্মিত মা অন্নপূর্ণা ও সঙ্গে দেবাদিদেব মহাদেব। মন্দিরটি প্রত‍্যেক দিন সকাল ৬টা থেকে বেলা ১২টা এবং বিকেল ৩টে থেকে রাত্রি ৮টা পর্যন্ত খোলা থাকে। মাঝের বাকি সময় মন্দির প্রাঙ্গন খোলা থাকলেও মন্দির কক্ষ বন্ধ থাকে। এই মন্দিরে প্রত‍্যেক দিন নিত‍্যসেবা হলেও অন্নপূর্ণা পূজোর দিন এবং কালি পূজোর পরের দিন অন্নকূট উৎসব পালিত হয়ে থাকে। এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্ঠার সাথে ঠাকুর শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংসদেবও ওতোপ্রতোভাবে জুড়ে রয়েছে। শোনা যায় মন্দিরের জন‍্য জমি নির্বাচন থেকে প্রতিষ্ঠা সবটাই তার হাত ধরে। মন্দির প্রতিষ্ঠার দিন তিনি যে বেলতলায় বিশ্রাম নিয়েছিলেন সেই বেলগাছটি এখনো মন্দির প্রাঙ্গনে বিদ‍্যমান। রানি রাসমনি প্রতিষ্ঠিত দক্ষিণেশ্বর মন্দিরের মত দেখতে হওয়ায় এই মন্দিরটি অনেকের কাছে 'দ্বিতীয় দক্ষিণেশ্বর মন্দির' নামেও পরিচিত। মন্দিরের প্রবেশ ফটকের উপর যে সিংহ মূর্তি রয়েছে তা সরিয়ে ফেলার জন‍্য সেসময় ব্রিটিশ কতৃপক্ষের সঙ্গে রানি রাসমনি পরিবারের আইনি লড়াই হয়েছিল, কিন্তু দীর্ঘ আইনি লড়াইয়ের পরে ব্রিটিশ প্রশাসন মন্দির কতৃপক্ষের পক্ষে রায় দিলে সিংহ মহারাজ নিজের স্হানেই রয়ে যান।

In the Talpukur area of Barrackpore, the temple looks like the Maa Annapurna temple, which looks like a Dakshineswara temple located on the banks of the Ganges. Jagadamba Devi, the youngest daughter of Rani Rashmoni, established this temple on 12 April 1875 in the village of Chanak, now Barrackpore. The main deity of the temple is Maa Annapurna, who is made of octahedron, and also Devadidev Mahadev. The temple is open every day from 8 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 8 pm. The temple premises remain open during the rest of the time but the temple rooms remain closed. Although there is daily service in this temple, Annakutra festival is celebrated on the day of Annapurna Pujo and the day after Kali Pujo. Tagore Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansadev is also closely associated with the establishment of this temple. The Bell Tree on which he rested on the day of the establishment of the temple still exists in the temple premises. This temple is also known as 'Second Dakshineswar Temple' too many as it looks like the Dakshineswar Temple established by Rani Rashmoni. The Rani Rashmoni family had a legal battle with the British at that time to remove the lion statue on the temple main gate. But after a long legal battle, when the British administration ruled in favor of the temple authorities, Lion remained in his place.
