- So many of you have asked how many fireplaces there are at Mapperton House, so it's about time we find out! We might lose count at a few points during this video, but we now know that there are at least 15 fireplaces in the main house! No wonder we need all that wood!

Stumbled on this channel somehow and I love it. Julie, thanks for fulfilling all my dreams of going behind the locked doors of fancy houses and seeing how the house actually looks and acts, fiddly doors and well-used upholstery alike!
That's a lovely Clivia (previously called Kaffir Lily). The orange is the most common color but they also come in this delicious pale yellow and other versions in between the yellow and orange. I'm in California...we see these a lot.
Never have I ever heard a subject explained so succinctly as when your husband explained how to start a fire. I follow you from Oaxaca Mexico. Chimenea fires are one of my greatest comforts. This had an impact on my everyday life. Abrazos Pamela
Terrific tour of the fireplaces!!! Love from Vermont
Beautiful tour Julie and great job Stephen and Claire with the camera/sound work! I love this!
What a lovely tour to have of the sub tropical gardens at Abbotsbury (sp)! It makes us feel like we travelled without the hassles.. I enjoyed the gardens very much. So glad Mapperton won the best garden this last year, and I did vote for you.
Glad you enjoyed it! and thank you for voting for us!
I had to crack up watching Julie having door difficulties again. 🚪♥️
Julie trying to close doors!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks for showing us the little space for the wood. That was very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it
Massive kudos to whomever does the editing! Really lovely job. Also amazing Julie as always!
What a magnificent house and estate! Congratulations Julie & family, it is truly beautiful.
My husband was an American military officer. And we lived on the patch in Warminster, Wiltshire for three years. The Lord of Bath's ancestral home is there and we used to buy our firewood from his conservation office. You could request how much you wanted and they would cut it for you in small logs. (Because we only had one, usable fireplace). Then they delivered it to our quarters on the patch. It was very cool!
Thanks for the lovely tour.
I love your outfit Julie, and your velvet scarf is stunning!
Thank you so much!
And if you include the outdoor fireplaces like the one in the summer house and the two grottos you have to be well over 20.
Thank you Julia. Absolutely fascinating as always. X
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love your simple episodes like counting the toilets, drawing the blinds, counting the leaks, setting the table lol...makes me feel like I live there. ;)
It's a clivia. You are lucky that it is blooming
I laughed a wee bit as I noticed your family sitting room has 2 fires in it and you did not notice.....well it looked like a fireplace ☺️
can't wait, if I ever move and build a new house, i am going to have our coat of arms over the fireplace
Your plant is a beautiful Clivia. I have family Clivia’s going back to when I was a small child. I’m 66 now! So treat them well and they bloom forever😊
Thank you, I will
Fireplaces,
Feels like christmass whole year. 🤗
It's a Clivia!! In Australia they thrive in shade.
#7 is a Franklin stove or an imitation thereof, invented by old Benny in Philly. He was a loyal American.
I feel for her. These homes are always cold. The gas bill must be atrocious
You have a cat! 🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️
The owners of these ancestral houses are really archivists living in museums and managing them to hand along to future generations.
This was awesome
omg i bet your gas bill for the central heating is huge.being from australia living in england now i am always cold.
What about the archival room, the one that Stuart’s with the letter “M” I noticed in a previous episode that small room had a Fireplace ! - Mrs. E.E. Zayas
I noticed there was a radiator under the stairs where the wood is kept. Was that space something else at one time and also, are you not afraid of bugs coming in the house with the wood stored under the stairs. Like termites or spiders or just bugs in general?
Very funny “The American is always cold...” lol 😆
With all the wood stored in the house do you have a problem with spiders?
Wouldn't it be easier to just count the chimneys?🙂
"I think we're at two" 😁
Thanks I feel like I'm visiting from oz
I'm surprised that Julie is not just wearing nice thick sweaters all year round. I lived in San Francisco's cold side and I loved being bundled up all year round. Nothing like being socked in under fog in July. Miss it.
It's true that I'm always cold here in England! Thank you for your comment 🥰
Old world Radium heated "fireplaces" along with some real ones ?
How and in the world do you keep it so clean.
I am sure they have someone come in from the village at least once a week to clean & dust.
What episode do you show the biomass boiler?
that one is exclusive on my Patreon account. xx
@@AmericanViscountess Ok, but now that the Patreons have seen it, can the Infantry have a look at it too :-) Might be of general interest... ;-) Thanks!
Your archival collection should be kept in climate controlled environment: 20 degrees C and 55% relative humidity. 24/7. Other than preventing water, dust, insects, etc, you have to prevent fluctuations of temperature. Paper absorbs water and dries out, and the paper fibres are weakened by continual movement caused by uncontrolled conditions. The Muniment Room is no longer a suitable environment. Perhaps you could repurpose it? Could you do a video on how you are managing your archives, or is it too soon?
Having a fireplace in a muniment room seems like a bad idea. 🤔

Or just walk outside and count the chimneys. But not as interesting 😜
