  • Interview with Scottish Climber Robbie Phillips | Origin Story, Climbing Training, Psychology
In this video/ podcast we sit down (virtually) with Scottish born climber Robbie Phillips, discussing a range of topics covering; where it began, climbing training, projects, psychology and even discusses a lesser talked about grip position, dubbed by Robbie the "quarter crimp".
Robbie's CV stretches across multiple disciplines. He's been performing at a really high sport level - redpointed up to 8c+, climbed multiple hard/ scary trad routes up to E9, bouldered up to V12, bigwall adventures all around the world, represented his country in sport climbing, and all-round rock climber and a now he's even a professional RUclipsr.

Such a good guy to listen to. Massively talented, but very down to earth.

Sheffielders were doing max one arm hangs back in the early 80's. Nothing new under the sun, except new kit. Robbie is an amazing climber. The point about the right partner is so important. I am climbing a lot with Mr Dawes at present. We are fired up by seeming impossibility, to experiment.

Great interview Tom and it's great to see a little more insight into Robbie's life, I always appreciate his pragmatic take on climbing. Hope he gets some sessions in with Dave McLeod up in Scotland
