The Art Market: Part 1 - Auctions

- I made this series of mini-docs with artsy.net and UBS about the contemporary art market. The idea was to tackle a difficult subject and offer a primer on how to begin to understand it. This is part 1, concerning fine art auctions. Edited by Nate DeYoung. The Art Market (in Four Parts) series is owned by Art.sy, Inc. For licensing of these films, please contact legal@artsy.net.
you have a great narrative voice ..
Its very artsy
Can't wait for parts 2-4. This was so good
go to UBS channel!
Man, I had to watch it twice to fully understand this but I love the quickness of your videos. Great work.
The content you produce is always such high quality.
Oscar, you are so awesome. I love your video production style and your voice is very suiting of that style. keep up the good content
Great film Oscar! Your voiceover/narration work is impeccable and really anchors the tone of your projects.
Oscar this is one of the best short films I've seen online to date. I don't know how you do it.
Kind of fun to watch - its an amusing demonstration of the creative dimension being atvthe base of our ways of acting and thinking - and its also a narrative of how power is an important part of human consciousness. It seems to be a playground for the creation of modern World. And at the same time there are the eternal questions of quality. What is the important quality of a piece of art? Or anything else in our ways of acting and thinking -
man finally a guy that smart to talk about it... i just recently saw this in a vimeo trailer and i love it... now knowing its you Oscar im a fan of your videos thanks for sharing and also casey the reason i know that you exists
I think this already has more views than the four videos on UBS's channel combined. Oscar for President.
Oscar you have quickly become my favorite and most inspiring short film/documentary maker. You are a class apart! Please don't ever start vlogging like a moron. Thank you for this great video. I learnt something new.
So interesting. Can't wait for more.
I took an Art History course to fulfill a requirement last semester. The best part was when, after working up through about 1900, we arrived at the Dada works. My professor asked, "Is this art?" when looking at Jean Arp's "Collage...," then sat and watched as 30 twenty-somethings argued amongst each other, then fumed for an hour. Definitely her favorite day of the semester.
Thank you Oscar :)
We had no reason to expect more from you or at least so much so soon, but I for one am supremely happy you keep uploading.
I meant to add that I like the subject matter too.
Great work, Oscar!
That was beyond interesting! Can't wait to see the other parts! Great video
Once again you deliver. Very interesting topic and nicely flowing doc. Very nice Oscar.
This is absolutely my favorite set of films of this website.
Oscar nails it everytime
I'll be sharing this with my art classes. Well done Oscar. Fast, entertaining, informative. Very cool.
I like you videos, because when you eexplain its fast and understandable even I'm bad in speaking English. The first time I saw oscar is when casey and oscar eat at mcdo. Eating 12$ burger! that was insane and now I'm watching this video and loving how you explain. Oh and the coin review in 1 week, I watched that too. i love everything you do in filming and just having fun =) cheers
This was amazing. Well done Oscar & the crew!
Two words: Money. Laundering.
Art (has become) is nothing more than a store of value. That’s it and that’s all.
lol i was about to say this
Look into “live art “ it can be shipped internationally without being checked the contents by customs 😒 I can only think it’s human trafficking because shipping animals can happen without it being hidden.
Take a look at New Joseph Charles Colin $1 Per Minute Paintings Before He Blows Up.
Exactly
New2yoU - SECOND LIFE 2018 couldn’t find him
Bring on the next few parts mate, this was bloody fantastic!! (I'm loving this all the way from Australia )
Me too!

you are such a great cinematographer and commentator!
this is a great series!
Scar - this is top stuff. As someone once said, I don't know much about art but I know what I like. And I liked this.
Loving this series! Reminds me of A Brief History of John Baldessari narrated by Tom Waits.
Love how each video has a different topic and all of them are so unique. Keep up the excellent work, I'm keen to see more.
In all of these amazing videos you create, it's your voice that keeps me hooked! (Oh, and the snazzy editing of course!)
Stellar work Oscar! Looking forward to more of this!
Although you don't post content as often as we all would like, each project of yours is so interesting and well done!

Great film. Short and concise. The dynamic is excellent and I learned a lot :-)
probably one of my favourite videos on this site! Great Work.
I love your work Oscar!! So tightly edited (Cheers Nate DeYoung), brilliant deadpan narration style and so information dense I have to pause it constantly just to process everything. It's fantastic.

Simply incredible! So clean and polished and professional. Keep it up.
Not one of your video is disappointing man. Great work!
Buying a painting on credit and getting points that’s a boss move
Pat W I did that! Not at those numbers though!
There was a Chinese billionaire who bought a $170 million painting that did the same thing and they had to do multiple transaction b/c of the limit.
So GOOD. Too good for youtube, I'd say.
Your magnificent voice makes it just out of this world
love your unique style
I guess the self restraint and Gothic moderation capabilities made a master auctioneer. Definitely situational awareness too a forte along with reflexes. The hammer volition is perhaps the most powerful neuro - motor skill. Yes! Champions.
One of your finest works, Oscar! Your voice is awesome (and everyone else already told you that about the video).
Oscar the great. That was an amazing piece.
this is an insanely great video and series.
