Excellent and informative vid. I’ve completed the Wye from Glasbury to Redbrook. I’m keen to paddle down to Chepstow but I’ve always been a little nervous because of the reliance on the tidal information and the lack of plan B if you get it wrong. This covers all the information (including the all important pub information) that I needed and I will definitely be ticking this off now. Many thanks. You’ve gain a new subscriber 😊

Thanks Robert. We've done all the sections from Glasbury to Chepstow apart from 2 sections from Byecross to Holme Lacy which we plan to do soon. The sections from Redbrook down to Chepstow are really nice, you transition onto the tidal reach and Tintern and the Lancaut Gorge are stunning, as is the appraoch to Chepstow as you pass the castle. You realy have to get the timing right though, since if you get to Chepstow >2 hours or so after high tide you may not be able to land on the pontoon. You also need quite a big high tide. Use the link in the video to tide times since tideforecast.com and other sites will mislead you otherwise. Also, the high tide at Brockweir seems to be 30 mins or so later than Chepstow because it's about 10-12 miles upstream, so don't worry if the tide is still coming in at Brockweir when you set off. Better to be early than late! We plan to do Chpestow to Black Rock near Sudbrook next, when the tides are right.

I look forward to seeing your onward journey from Chepstow. And when you tick off Byecross to Holme Lacy you’ll get to run Monnington Falls which can be fun.

Another brilliant video with masses of useful/essential info. Thank you so much. I'd love to do this one day soon and as a single paddler with no land-based support I'm particularly grateful for all the logistical, transport/parking/bus/taxi and safety info. REALLY helpful. I look forward to working my though your other videos and following many of your paddles myself :-)

Thanks Steve. This is an overlooked and very rewarding section of the Wye. You have to factor in that it's tidal and if you get to Chepstow with the water level having dropped below the pontoon then you would have a MAJOR problem, but that aside, it was one of our favourite paddles on the Wye.
