In my opinion futurama is a lot better than the Simpsons and it also has plot progression and character development over the spam of the show unlike the simpsons
To be fair The Simpsons was created to make pop cultural references for current events in a parodical way. Futurama was created to be chaotic but also has story telling characteristics. Groening basically wanted to create an animated show that was unique in a sense. He did so. It is one of my favorite animated shows ever.
I will say it is the best animated show of all time. The humor is smart, thought provoking, and silly all at the same time! It is clever and well written. The characters all have flaws, but they also sacrifice for each other. Just when you think there will be an absurdly cheap laugh, the show chokes you with tears.
It’s also better than family guy and American dad!

The voice actress for Leela is Katey Segal. She played Peggy Bundy on Married With Children, and Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy.
She was also the voice of Ashley Spinelli's mother on Recess.

This is one of my biggest comfort shows. I rewatch it so often.
This show is absolutely incredible. The character and story arcs are very good. It was cancelled 3 times and still its back now and has the same spirit.
Was honestly blown away at how consistent the new episode was. As beautiful and funny as the day we lost it. For the third time.
Truly the writers of Futurama have still got it. I'm loving the new episodes.
I do like how since season 4 the writers write each season ending as if it was their last.

Futurama is my favorite cartoon. I watched it from the beginning way back during the world of yesterday.
The one scene with the 3 eyed fish when fry was in the tube system was a reference back to The Simpson.

Futurama is just a joy to watch
I liked all of the questions being asked, because they all get addressed. At some point over the course of the series. I also like that they didn't notice the (fore)shadow. Just to add: The idea of old New York being underneath New New York, shares the real life event of current Seattle being built on top of an old Seattle that burnt down. Something about it being cheaper and safer to build on top of it. You can tour the Seattle Underground and see the old buildings and even look from below to see people walking above.
"That one burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the *next* one... stayed up!!".
Futurama is great fun
I’ve watched some Futurama before but I can’t really say I watched it chronologically as o used to just watch it when I saw it was on so probably ended up watching like a few from the first season and then some of other seasons, will be fun to watch with you guys though.
Fry was happy to he a delivery boy at the end because he got the opportunity to be one in space and travel to other planets. He didn’t know that was even possible earlier and if he had accepted that chip he could have easily ended up in a terrestrial delivery job.
This is my favorite adult cartoon show but I don’t know when I first started watching it. I “thought” it was when it initially aired as I definitely saw it during its first run on Fox yet looking at the premiere date I would have only been 8 when it started. I may have seen it some then but I’m guessing I probably wasn’t too invested until I reached doubled digits, maybe 11 or 12, as prior to that a lot of the humor probably went over my head.

I love futurama, i have since i was a kid. It came out when i was 9. I'm still a fan all these years later. The pilot is amazing and sets you up for the ride that is this show.
This is my biggest comfort show my boyfriend and I have watched every episode like 20-30 plus times cause we use to watch it before bed to fall asleep after our first official watch. It’s such a great show and the jokes are just so chill the new season has been great but I’ve only seen 2 episodes
My first encounter with this show was a CD a friend ripped for me with 50mb versions of the episodes. Truly nostalgic of the early 2000's, when piracy was just barely starting to enable me to watch american shows less than 5 years after they came out.
Ready to see what the Future holds from 1999, so let’s follow Phillip J. Fry voiced by Billy West who also voices Professor Farnsworth while Turanga Leela is voiced by Katey Sagal & Bender Bending Rodriguez is voiced by John DiMaggio
They have the greatest consistency. You guys didn't show the fraction of a second clip, and I'm not going to spoil what it is, but there's a minute little detail in this very first episode that foreshadows something that happens several seasons later in the show.
In each episode there are cryptic alien letters, each one is a hidden message which you have to decode using the clues throughout the episodes. This episode had "Slurm" and the corresponding Alien characters. You copy those characters and use them to try and decode the alien messages.
What I love about Futurama, is that there really are very few dud episodes. Yes, it began over 20 years ago, but only has a 'few' seasons due to the numerous cancellations, but it's essentially been the same crew making the show each iteration, and they know what they're doing.

i watched futurama since the day this episode airred, they had ads for it on TV for months every single person in school were waiting for it and watched it when it came out
My favourite animated comedy show of all time. Might not be the most laugh per minute you'll ever see in a show, but it's still hilarious and it has actual story progression, it has character development, it has it all. My top 3 animated comedy show list would probably go something like 1. Futurama 2. Gravity Falls 3. South Park.

First watched it in 2000, at the age of 30, was given a heads up by a Canadian mate of mine - it seemed to have the same sort of rocky path as Family Guy which also released in 1999. Futurama is excellent, and still watch it today.

I've been watching Futurama since it first aired, and before that, I've been watching Billy West animations since Ren & Stimpy. So Good! This show gets better and better, and has many story arcs that tie up so perfectly with the original last episode before Hulu brought it back.

Futurama is my all-time favorite animated show.
I finally bought the dvd box 6 month ago. But ive seen the serie like a billion times before. (Im 57, by the way). I never gonna be to old for animated movies and series.
Fun fact: Futurama actually used to air on YTV over in Canada back in 2007-2009.
YTV also airs SpongeBob, Littlest Pet Shop (2012), InuYasha, Wipeout, and other great shows! Something for everyone.

I got into it early 2000's, like 01/02. It's one of my all time favorite shows still and i for one can't wait for you to watch Jurassic Bark. 😢

Futurama holds the unofficial record for most graduate degrees in the writers' room, many of them STEM. They're the only sitcom (AFAIK) to discover and prove a mathematical hypothesis. One of the bonus features on a DVD set was a math lecture explaining said hypothesis.
This is a very unique show.

Also.. A lot of the future characters and story lines are actually introduced in the first episode. Shit going into the third season was implemented

I was 19 when I first saw futurama at all, 23 when I first bingewatched it and now 42 when I saw the first episode of the new season that was released 1 week ago
It isn't so weird of Fry to think it had been a million years, after all 1000 years is called a "millennia", sounds more like derived from "million" if it derived from the english language, so it is a pretty good joke 🙂

Futurama has kewl story where things will tie together in a very weird way and there is even a details that u don't realize u saw until much later, don't try to find out what though, it will be a kewl thing to find out later🙂

I watched Futurama when it first aired but I didn't see the first episode before I bought the DVD set.

I hope you continue the show such a good series but I suggest you watch it in production order and not broadcast order because that throws off the continuity a bit putting some episodes in random order. In production order there's only seven seasons eight with the Hulu run and the broadcast order has 10 with Hulu being the 11th
I highly suggest watching Futurama in production order instead of broadcast order but either way you will get the same story.
I fucking love Futurama. It’s absolutely fantastic. I’m so glad it’s back. Surely you could put a less vibrant filter over the video. Futurama has a great pilot and it just keeps getting better. Until you hit the Comedy Central run.
It gets blocked by YT a LOT whenever we try it with a lower filter. Trust us, we've tried a LOT!

I can confidently say that Futurama is my favourite TV series ever. Seasons 1-4 are perfect, and the eps after that are a bit hit or miss, but still good.
You HAVE to watch the rest...the writing is amazing, the plotlines are hilarious!
