I don't know why people even bother to mention negative comments on videos like this one. This is simply groundbreaking. For live, on a lab top, this is incredible. One can record, mix, and master a world class album with an Apollo interface, Uad plugins, a good laptop, and of course focal monitors. Stellar. UAD is Solid. And Fab is the best person to advertise their stuff.
what's the thing that can bee seen in front of the laptop (metallic grey-ish, with circuitry visible),...it appears to be s UA product but cant figure out which one
So can I use this directly with my daw presonus studio one pro 64bit??,and I'm presuming to use the thunderbolt if I buy it it comes installed in it already??
Hi you say you can record the singer at "no latency". To be clear are you meaning zero latency OR sub 2ms latency as advertised in the product spec? Thanks
What's the procedure in cascading (2) Apollo Quad Cores together for a total of 16? I am using my Tascam DM 4800 which actually does not need any interface but Id like to have 16 to 24 I can line up with the Tascam. Can you also Cascade a Quad Core Apollo with the Apollo 16 for 24? Thanks
Sure you can use it as a digital mixer with plugin effects, but you won't be able to record anything without the software (like Protools, Cakewalk, Nuendo, etc.).
So you mean to tell me all I need to make a pro recording is a MacBook Pro & either 1 or 2 UA Apollo Interfaces?!! Wow!! And even without a Pro Tools or Logic Pro too? Wow Wow!!
You can place the plug-ins in either. Typically I don't use the mixer, which is for mostly for live recording. An Octo or Quad satellite helps with additional DSP power. The UAD plug-ins don't use the computer CPU. Open your wallet and say "ah".
is it just my imagination or did the LA-2A emulation sound better than the hardware on that vocal? i know it´s a youtube video and it´s already pretty compressed, but i can most certainly say that the hardware was a lot sharper and the emulation was more soft sounding. try listening at a low level... you will hear it. if not. crank it! then the hardware will be unbearable, but the software will be ok :)
the song is really great! by chance im from Montreal so I speak good french! haha miam lots of caramel :) very sexy and French. good job!! the strings were awesome.
I play E-Gutar since 1987 if any of my amps would sound nasty distorted like that plug in I would throw the amp just right out the window . The La2a Plug AB was a joke! I don't know what is going on with UAD that they hire a French/NYC engineer who is much into high end hardware. In every interview he states this... last but not least the idea of the Apollo is great. I still have to upgrade to MK2 of the 1176/LA2A but for 150$ upgrade - SHY- I already paid for the world best simulation????
Much love for UA and this is an excellent sales pitch but you can already track through software natively without much issue if you are just using software for eq/time effects. The big problem is stuff like the presented amp simulation which would be a bit of a game changer if it actually sounded good instead of sounding like every other amp simulation which is to say, sounding like ass. Plugins + 2 appolos + an octo costs as much as a fair chunk of that sweet rack visible back there too btw.
This video is FAKE. Does anyone else hear the latency in her voice at 10:03? And yes as others mentioned the changes in wardrobe during the performance prove this audio was recorded separately and filmed throughout a couple demonstrations.
so, basically, I want two apollos, two Focal Beryllium Speakers, loads of amazing microphones, a room to record strings and I'm done! so... how much do I owe you?
why would they change cloths,,,,,,god thats real shame ,,,i was actually thinking of buying one ,,but i guess i have to rethink it over just because she change the cloth three times,,,funny huh
The hardware sounded much sharper and clear than the software, any decent engineer can hear the difference, the guitar was actually sounding horrible, I know the quality of the product is amazing but the quality of the presentation was mediocre.
Nicolas Rivera Of course is my opinion, but if you follow the comments bellow you'll find similar opinions. Your opinion is that I am not an engineer but yes I am a producer and engineer from the oxford school of audio and have worked with multi grammy awards producers and engineers several times, but you don't need a "paper" to hear such difference, you just need a set of ears, If you can't hear the difference between the hardware and software in this presentation is a shame because it looks like you are a musician.
You are saying that i am a shame? i do hear a difference, but aside from what you hear, i hear many uses for both sounds..... and i'm not an engineer but have 20+ years of recording under my belt. You judge to quickly those sounds and seems you can't see the full spectrum of possibilities.

looks great.
Nice recording too. Good detail and clarity on the end track.
probably the best namm video i have ever seen.....i need to go there next year
Wow!! That rythm is a Baião from here, Brazil!
The Strings are Great!!!
The UAD plugins are the Best!!
Ha! It actually changed several times towards the end. Good catch.
i have found they do multiple takes and edit the best of the best when they do these projects.
That's the UAD-2 DSP PCIe card Octo system with a Sonnet Echo Express Thunderbolt chassis (they left it open so people could see the card inside).
awesome!!!!!
Patrick - Magda va venir jouer à Montréal cet été (3 juin je pense!)
amazing string section, nothing but class son!
Yes, I noticed it straight away! Continuity, but well edited.
When will this be available?
I feel that the hardware is a bit warmer, but the plugin also sounds good!
amazing stuff
so what u telling me is you don't need external preamp when using this apollo thingy??
i just sold my uad la 610 mkII hardware for the unision emulation and after that i put the la 2a!!! no difference!!
Super merci bc genre les Francofolies ou Jazz Fest?
Thanks for the help!
Simply AMAZING!!!
Great gear, can't wait to by one for me, just a silly question,
Does the Apollo makes you change dress several times like the singer in the video did?
what's the thing that can bee seen in front of the laptop (metallic grey-ish, with circuitry visible),...it appears to be s UA product but cant figure out which one
So can I use this directly with my daw presonus studio one pro 64bit??,and I'm presuming to use the thunderbolt if I buy it it comes installed in it already??
wait what happened to the processed sound on play back the effects werent there anymore :S
Hi you say you can record the singer at "no latency". To be clear are you meaning zero latency OR sub 2ms latency as advertised in the product spec? Thanks
When is this update available?
Do your pro tools plugins run off the apallo's processing power or your computers cpu
Thanks
2 apollos = quad core dsp; 32 channels 16 with uad converters and another 16 via adat !!!!
What did you guys think about those amp modelling plugins at the beginning?
fucking Karamel.
I love using this in my studio. Wish I need all those inputs. 2 Apollos look SEXY like how she forms hers words syllables - especially Ca-Ra-Mel ;-p~
interesting. so what vst you are using for this purpose? thank you sr
Yeah but how do you hook it up together and set it up in the daw
Start here: help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057641051-Get-Started-with-Apollo-Twin
whats the entire
setup you are using
Yes
14yrs ago we used to sell G3 233Ghz protools systems for 10k that could record about 8 tracks of audio
Sure you can use it as a digital mixer with plugin effects, but you won't be able to record anything without the software (like Protools, Cakewalk, Nuendo, etc.).
Why the woman in the final song has different colors of dress?
So you mean to tell me all I need to make a pro recording is a MacBook Pro & either 1 or 2 UA Apollo Interfaces?!! Wow!! And even without a Pro Tools or Logic Pro too? Wow Wow!!
i don't know what it is, but there is something about this song that makes me want to eat caramel
They still run off your computer's resources. Only the UAD plugins run off the Apollo.
Can I just use the Apollo unit without Pro-Tools? What I mean is if only I have a MacBook Pro & a Apollo High Resolution Interface. Thank you! :)
You can use the Apollo without a DAW. You run the mixer directly on your computer. You can even run it without a computer but with is easier.
Very nice
'
would a big ben master clock go good with the apollo anybody???
but will I be able to use Logic instead of the UA mixer?
You can place the plug-ins in either. Typically I don't use the mixer, which is for mostly for live recording. An Octo or Quad satellite helps with additional DSP power. The UAD plug-ins don't use the computer CPU. Open your wallet and say "ah".
The technology aside, Fab is amazing.
what mike are they using for the vocals
Shure SM7
NJlo
Actually its a shure sm7b.
is it just my imagination or did the LA-2A emulation sound better than the hardware on that vocal? i know it´s a youtube video and it´s already pretty compressed, but i can most certainly say that the hardware was a lot sharper and the emulation was more soft sounding.
try listening at a low level...
you will hear it.
if not. crank it!
then the hardware will be unbearable, but the software will be ok :)
At the end, notice her dress is yellow, then red, then yellow again...
i thought it was K A R A M E L :)
I was going to get the Sonic Core Xite-1 but this looks like it is a generation ahead :/
the song is really great! by chance im from Montreal so I speak good french! haha miam lots of caramel :) very sexy and French. good job!! the strings were awesome.
love the video. if i ever that word sung again!
Yeah, they run the same demo like 4 times a day, for 4 straight days.
nice
Holy shit you're right
They can change clothes pretty damn fast!
yeah man! they used a video plug-in for color tweaking. it's all part of the apollo experience!
thnx
dam should i spend 2grand on the apollo or room treatment
You were not supposed to see that, you're only to use your ears LOL
"Nacho, come make some guitar!" 3:18
Looks Great!
Softube still sounds horrible,though.
unless You like fizzy distortion, that is.
I play E-Gutar since 1987 if any of my amps would sound nasty distorted like that plug in I would throw the amp just right out the window . The La2a Plug AB was a joke! I don't know what is going on with UAD that they hire a French/NYC engineer who is much into high end hardware. am not wondering ,i know .

C'mon ... bananas.
And at 13:46
But srsly....Dual Apollo + Octo card. Obviously it's at 12%. False advertising.
Haahaa they change clothes halfway through the song at the end
And 14:49, and 15:12, and 15:30.
helooooooooooooo
THERE ARE 3 CLOTHES CHANGES lol but really nice song
this song is heavily influenced by Forró from Brazil
why is she barefoot?
compression destroyed her vocal!!!
I don't know about that. Sounded pact with dynamics especially inside the mix.
why would they change cloths,,,,,,god thats real shame ,,,i was actually thinking of buying one ,,but i guess i have to rethink it over just because she change the cloth three times,,,funny huh
Yeh I like some softube software but their amp stuff is pretty awful.
The hardware sounded much sharper and clear than the software, any decent engineer can hear the difference, the guitar was actually sounding horrible, I know the quality of the product is amazing but the quality of the presentation was mediocre.
Thats your opinion, and you are not an Engineer....
