Rob has an inflection to his voice as he sings that just shows such emotion. He has a story telling voice. All the guys just did an incredible job with this.
Geez! Vocal orchestration at its finest! Less is more sometime and this is just another example of their ability to convey such raw emotion without affectation. I appreciate that. Thank you for your reaction to this beauty.
Home Free did it again. People, One Voice and now Traveling Soldier. They can tug at the heart just as easily as they can make us laugh. Even if Tim and Adam don't sing in a song they really bring a lot to the whole composition every time.
Home Free does it every time. The song is so beautiful and at the same time so sad. I have listened to this song so many times and it doesn't fail to bring tears to my eyes. As always thank you for a really good reaction.
Their cover of this song is my very first time of hearing it and it made me ugly cry. Made me think of my uncle who was in the Army during Desert Storm (20 plus years of service). Your heartfelt reaction touched me and you have a beautiful soul sir.
Each of the Home Free singers is remarkably talented, and then there's Adam Rupp. His vocal percussions brilliantly added to this song from the subtle sounds to the drums. This was an incredible performance which told a beautiful but, in the end, sad story. Respect to our military.
I agree with you, a beautiful song !! I do believe you are a true Home Fry now, and yes they just keep raising the bar higher and higher. Thank your for a true heartfelt reaction !!
Musically beautiful. Their voices make the most extraordinary music. And I have to agree, Tim and Adam just took this to another level. The lyrics are heart wrenching.
The overwhelmingly sad meaning of this song. Nice reaction . Much gratitude for all those protecting us. Quite a way to begin Memorial Day. Well sung Home Free!
Goosebumps and tears with this one. Having Rob lead in key sections is brilliant. Adam Rupp so tasteful with his percussion. Harmonies make you melt. I would love to hear this done in a Celtic version with Scottish small pipes, fiddle, and bodhran... maybe a smattering of mandolin. The cadence of the song seems to lend itself to it.
Only band that percussion make me emotional! 😭. When Adam did the snare I lost it! 😭😭. Stunning! I will be preordering this album! As a family member to many veterans, this hit hard! 🇺🇸. Thank you to all veterans and family members for your service and sacrifices to protect freedom! Thank you Home Free! ❤️
Beatboxes/percussionist/drum kit Adam provides an element that truly informs the emotional tone of the song. If you didn’t already know the song story, you can feel it because of the ‘percussion section’ of this amazing band.
This one got me, it is a beautiful video, I teared up too. Sang by a group of guys who have heart. There are no words that can really express how special Tim is, and to think he was almost an orthodontist. What a voice he was gifted with. Adam and his incredible beat boxing, always astounds me. I have to say that when people hear Rob sing, they think he's from the south, it tickles me that he's not and he's so versatile. Adam Chance was an incredibly great choice to add to the group, his voice is incredible. What can we say about Austin that hasn't already been said over and over, lol.
Just when I think I'm not going to cry this time, they hit me with those harmonies in the chorus and it's all over . . again! Thanks for the reaction, would like to see you react to 'Catch Me if You Can" sometime. Also their first Sing-Off performance, Cruise is well worth a listen!
Had to laugh through my tears when you rightly said... if you havent cried enough watch One Voice... No matter how many times I see this and some of HF's songs, I find myself tearing up. My computer has been acting up and i had to sneak up on this reaction.. and lo and behold ... it PLAYED!! Love your reactions.. Thanks!
Took a look at who arranged this one, and one of the three arrangers is Tim Foust. It always strikes me how little ego these guys have that they specifically arrange things to feature the other guys in the group. Just a little thing that shows what great guys they all are.
I agree! They check their egos at the door! Right down to doing "tryouts" to see who has the best sound for what they're trying to achieve. These men are so special. They have not forgotten where they're from, nor do they shy away from social issues. They may poke fun at themselves or goof around with the crowd, but they are always respectful. Again, a very special group of men. ❤
I remember when I was in service and all of us would be waiting for mail call. There was a long line that, believe it or not, was in alphabetical order. Mainly because of the way mail was handed out. It always breaks my heart when the last letter he gets is her telling him that she’s coming home but she never gets to.
I loved the way Adam handled the vocal percussion on this one - from the subtle shaker sounds when he first came in to the drum cadence to highlight the reading of the list. And the vocals were all awesome - again! Thanks for not being afraid to let us see your emotions - I know I'm right there with you. And for a completely different kind of song, have you reacted to Sold yet? It's one of the funnier ones - along with the regular awesomeness of Home Free!
I am not a cryer, but I cannot make it through this song without the tears welling up. Maybe it’s because my daughter is at the Naval Academy and will be in the fleet in a little over a year. Maybe it’s because soldiers and civilians are in peril in the Ukraine this very minute. Or maybe it’s just because Home Free makes me feel every bit of the story this song tells.
You have progressed incredibly over time in your reactions! A beautiful song done incredibly well. Look forward to more HF reactions form you going forward. I did think Robb was particularly wonderful in this one. Keep up the good work.
You can actually download it now with a pre-order. It's amazing. I don't think I've heard Tim sing as low on a melody line as he does in one of the songs on it.
You got me to subscribe after I saw your reaction to this and One Voice. You have a heart. I would like to see you react to Children go where I send thee feat. Kenny Rogers and Blue ain't your color
Dan, my subs went from 2,130 to 0, but today is back to normal....I think they must have been doing some kind of an update and a glitch. Austin & Chase sound so good together. These guys hit another home run....those feels....
I cried. The formerly-known-as-Dixie-Chicks version was a favorite since way back. This is also really great, with HF special touches. I like how they switched it to a female soldier; the lyric changes work nicely.
It is a beautiful and melancholy song. I love their arrangement. I do vaguely remember The Chicks cover a little. Some new on Home Free: They'll be dropping a new album June 25th. It's some really great songs about America and some are songs that were already released. This one will be on it. Being a Patron of theirs, I can tell you it's going to be good. One song title surprised me! It's available for pre-order now at www.homefreemusic.com now. I have to tell you that you've become one of my favorite reactors! You're different than most because you're not afraid to give an honest opinion. You do appreciate these guys, though, so that's a big plus in my book! 😉
Just pre-ordered it! Thanks for that. And I really appreciate it, Beth. And I do. Also, they may be changing my mind on Country music. I did a reaction that will be up tomorrow evening, and it got me listening to some of the original artists songs, and its not the first time that's happened. They have some really great music out, and put a lot of work in to it. Its worth appreciating.
@@DanFromHali I love when the Home Fry numbers go up! Welcome to Frydom! I assume you got the free digital download of the album. Check out #10. Also, Brothers In Arms is off the chain!
You should react to "Full Of Cheer" I know it is a Christmas song but it is a follow-up to "Champaign Taste On A Beer Budget " both written by Tim. Also very funny. You get to see all the guys acting silly. This video was done when Chris was still with the group.
I tend to agree with you, I thought The Great TIM FAUST Would have been the natural choice for lead, but of course any of them could have done the lead and done it well. I love your reactions!
Beautiful sad song, getting use to Home Free's changing gender. Had to listen and watch several times. One of the few times HF made a mistake, She's suppose to be in her army greens.
