Rainy day run to Succulent Valley

  • Nearly 40mm of rain fell here today. We went for a little trip to see how far we could get. Not far, as it turns out.
We're using the diesel electric loco here which is designed for use in all weather conditions. When it is wet like this the vegetation sags down on to the overhead wires and can get tangled in the pantographs. The Succulent Valley creek is fed by storm water runoff so it can flash flood pretty dramatically when it rains. I wasn't brave enough to go any further, yeah I'm a wuss I know.
The Eltham South Electric tramway is a 45mm gauge, 1:24 scale tramway in Melbourne, Australia.

Superb atmosphere. This video is a bit like a trip in a rain forest. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.

Some might call it a garden railway, I think of it as a Jungletrain, and a fine one too, 🖖😉👍 ❗

Great to see you train on a rainy day!

It seems like tracks are laid and forgotten so much of natural vegetation grown on and side of the tracks.
So Satisfying to see train stomping all those grass and rolling on.
    Cheers.

Really great. I usually run your videos on a loop for 30 minutes or so. On each run, I see something new on the track, adjacent to the track or on your tremendous property. Thanks! (Good move about the waterfall on this one!!)

Would be cool to see more routes....or at Least another......you got the original Depot/Grass Lands run..... but there def. could be another route to a second terminus....I thought Succulent Valley was a brand new Line....but it was where the water was blocking track.....super realistic set up...very fun videos to watch....and humourous...."Nope"

I don't think water getting into the electronics would be a problem while driving through that waterfall. However, I'm willing to bet that the water would push the train right off the track.
