@sliderglider And to give at least one example: Brian May connected the pickups on his Red Special in series and liked to put them out of phase when playing solos like on Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody to Love. I don't know if he had to worry about grounding issues with the Burns pickups he used ;-)

How do I add a useable ground wire to a strat single coil pick up ? I’m wiring a guitar up like Brian May’s Red Special. My pups only have two wires. The ones he used ( Burns Tri Sonic) had three. I don’t want to go buy new pups, so I was wondering if anyone knows a solution
If the pickups don't have metal covers or base plates you don't need that third wire. You connect them in series and each pickup has a DPDT on-on switch that either engages or bypasses it.
It is no problem at all if the copper touches the magnet. Did you connect the foil to the ground side of the circuit? You should; if you do you have some level of shielding, if you don't you create an extra source of noise.

My contribution that I think is mine because I've never seen it written down or talked about much in multiunivercse theory, and was not corrected by Laura Mersini Houghton the astrophysicist who turned me on to super conductors is different constants for the speed of light, as in slow light universes and fast light universes. Some on my channel.
