    Really great that you talk about the challenges. The washer and the manipulating of the rear brackets to line up with the roof nicely.
    Also really great showing the installation details. I’m comparing roof racks and how they mount and want to understand the mounting system.

    Spot on for the right bracket! My hardware have the same exact issue as yours. I'm trying to figure out why my right bracket is off by almost half an inch. So, I decided to stop and check out some RUclips install videos. Yours is the best I have found so far. You are the only one mentioning this issue with the right bracket. Also you are showing accurately how the cross bars should sit in the lower part of the ridges. Makes sense to me as well. Many thanks !
    I'll continue the instal tomorrow

    I think we installed this the same weekend lol. Wish I saw this video first since I think we both have a 2015 Jeep and looks like our rear brackets on this rack are the same.
    My hardware was missing parts, they sent more. But the printing of the instructions was horrible. I also had headliners that I had to remove, drill, and then reinstall and drill through those. The fitment with headliners is super tight. After all said and done, I love this rack. Can’t wait to secure all of my gear up there for family adventures. Keep up the great work on your vids. Love the channel!

      @@BaptismOverland the headliners are worth it in my opinion. Just a big pain to get all dialed in right. I Dynamat my entire Jeep and did the headliners to cut down on heat and sound. I have my wife and son who is 3 with me on every adventure and I want to make it comfortable and quiet as possible for them.
      It was super tough re- installing my Teraflex Wasatch Rack, cargo bags, and blue ridge overland gear attic and front shade after all of this was done. Now my roof is basically permanent. At least I can still remove the freedom panels!

    Do you think the Sunrider for Hardtops would be useable with the 1/2 rack? I can't find any examples.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  3 года назад +1

      Ive seen people set up with it. As long as you get the half rack and not the full one you can clear it. Also when the rack is mounted to the side rails. You can slide it forward or backwards before locking it down. You MIGHT have a slight overhang in the rear if you're ok with that

    • @jgpyne
      @jgpyne 3 года назад

      @@BaptismOverland Thanks for the feedback! Now that you've had the 1/2 rack for awhile, are you happy with that versus the full rack? Also, are you finding the 1/2 rack provides enough stability for your RTT?

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  3 года назад

      @@jgpyne It's def stable because the rack pretty much covers 80% of RTT. The only part that isn't supported is MAYBE 1.5 feet and I haven't had any issues with rattling or instability. Here's my thing...if I spent more for the full rack, that real estate is going to be covered with the RTT anyway so it's wasted space for more money. A LOT of people even use the Rhino Rack platform on the Jeep for their RTT and Rhino doesn't offer full rack. That's when I knew that if it works out with THAT platform, I shouldn't have any issues with this one. PLUS, I don't have to have the pillars going down the front of the Jeep like I would if I got the full rack. IF I do decide to go full rack, it's really quite simple. I'll just have to buy the full rack itself and the two pillars and put them on. The rest of the mounts for the middle and the back are already set up so I don't have to do a full install again.

  • @sk1ppman

    I'm guessing this isn't compatible with XG Cargo Gamma saddlebags as they mount over the rear triangles of the roll cage.

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  2 года назад

      So my triangle bag attaches INSIDE the triangle so it fits- held by two straps to the triangle of the roll cage and falls just above and just below this roof rack bracket. But yeah, since your saddle bag is above it, then no because the bracket is there. But you might be able to fashion something where the bag itself can be mounted to the roof rack bracket that is now there vs using the straps that hold that bag to the bracket. I don't own that XG Cargo one so I don't know how it's mounted but that's what I did with my Garvin roll cage rotopax interior mount- I was able to attach it to the roof rack brackets

      @BaptismOverland  3 года назад

      @@michaelgee7509 Right?? But ok...I thought of that too except how will they lock in? The hardware you'll get is just a loop and then it's straight but theirs has a welded washer on it so when you turn it on the nut inside the track, the washer and nut sandwiches the rail. Maybe 2 nuts? (haha that sounded funny). Let me know how you figured it out. Cuz that will save some $ for sure

    • @BaptismOverland
      @BaptismOverland  2 года назад +1

      According to FR they don't publish it publically because it can change from vehicle to vehicle depending on the roof type it's being attached to on each vehicle. I WILL say (don't quote me on this) I believe its around 350 dynamic and 700ish static. On the Jeep it's being mounted right to roll cage which is way stronger than other vehicles' roofs. I've been able to put an RTT and awning and about 100lbs of cargo on top with no problems. And no problems with me and my family sleeping inside that tent

    • @BaptismOverland

      Freedom panels yes. Hard top yes but not so easily. You’ll basically have to undo the brackets attaching to pillars then remove the front bolts that go to the roll cage in the back seat. So yeah it’s doable. But keep in mind you’re now adding 67 lbs of the rack to that already heavy hard top.
