Know that I will choke until I swallow, Choke this infant here before me. What is this but my reflection? Who am I to judge or strike you down? But you're Pushin' and shoving me. Pushin' and shoving me Pushin' and shoving me Pushin' and shoving me Pushin' and shoving me. Pushin' and shoving me Pushin' and shoving me Pushin' and shoving me You still love me, still love me, Push it on me, push it on me. You still love me, still love me. Push it on me, push it on me. Rest your trigger on my finger, Bang my head upon the fault line. You better take care not to make me enter. 'Cause if I do we both may disappear. But you're Pushin' and shoving me. Pushin' and shoving me. Pushin' and shoving me. Pushin' and shoving me. You still love me, still love me, Push it on me, push it on me. You're pushin' it, shoving me. You're pushin' it, shoving me. I'm slipping back into the gap again. I'm alive when you're touching me, But not when you're shoving me down. But I'd trade it all For just a little piece of mind. Push it on me. Push it on me. Push it on me. Push it on me. Your Pushin' and shovin' and scramblin' To keep my feet flat on the ground I am somewhere I don't wanna be. Push me somewhere I don't wanna be. Put me somewhere I don't wanna be. Seeing someplace I don't wanna see. Never wanna see that place again. Saw that gap again today While you were begging me to stay. Managed to push myself away, And you, as well, my dear. If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay, You minimize my movement anyway, One must persuade you another way. Pushin', shovin', pushin', shovin, pushin me There's no love in fear. Staring down the hole again. Hands are on my back again. Survival is my only friend. Terrified of what may come. Remember I will always love you, As I claw your fucking throat away. There will be no other way, It will end no other way.

At age 67, most of my favorite bands over the decades have retired. The beatles, led zeppelin, genesis, pink floyd, Jethro Tull, and rush. Thankfully tool is still around. I just hope I don't have to wait another 14 years before the next album.... don't think I'll make that long.
At 43 i,m hoping I make another Tool album at this rate I will be your age when it comes out , hopefully for both our sakes its not long , peace man, hope you are well
It's what you notice most about the old Tool albums. Maynard was so unique and his delivery was literally one of one. Many think he got tired of Tool. I think he got tried of himself. Something definitely happened and I'm guessing it was a bad trip. Many of mid 2000s songs talk about him losing his identity of self. I think By and Down is a great example. He became a little too self aware. He was at his best when balancing his nihilist view with his preachy holier than thou demeanor. We're all hypocrites.
I was in a relationship like this and every time I hear this song, it heals me. It explains what I can’t. I couldn’t listen to it for a while when I got out of that situation years ago. Now I need to hear it sometimes.
i'm in a relationship like this now... and this was the medicine i needed to hear. i'm not sure what's to come of us ... but i might be sending her this soon along with my goodbye. **If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay ** - 8:23
So thankful that they left the comments open on their channel. That’s what tool music is all about. More so than any other band I’ve ever listened to. Personal interpretation. I’m thankful that everyone is able to share theirs
BINGO!!! I will never get back the countless hours I've spent going through every comment on all of Tool's vids. But, ya know what?? The stories I have found there were well worth every second. Some tragic, some uplifting and some that were just off the fuckin chain but all of those stories, those different voices, those distant friends, they all had a familiarity to them and a feeling of unity. I still spend more time than I should going thru comments but they call me and I can't resist. Each and every one is like opening a letter from an old friend that you haven't seen in years and they give me hope that the future may not be as bleak nor as dark as it appears. So, family, keep those letters coming and when I hear that beckoning voice, I will sit here in my little room with a glass of wine and a top shelf pre rolled from the dispensary down the street and I will get lost in your stories and feel at peace with the world.
Exactly, I share Tool with my children and tell them the music means something different to everyone, because music belongs to all of us. Some see this as a physical relational struggle, I see it as my battle with God to understand my chronic debilitating pain. Strangely, I find God through utter disobedience to God from an honest heart.

Revisiting the music of TOOL has been an incredibly profound experience, akin to embarking on an endless journey that continuously unfolds new layers of depth and emotion. Each session spent with their intricate compositions feels like a new adventure, one that never truly begins nor ends but perpetually evolves, offering fresh insights and immense joy every time. Their music is not just a listening experience; it is an immersion into a complex and beautifully crafted world of sound and thought. Should humanity endure the test of time, I am convinced that TOOL’s music will continue to captivate and inspire even 1000 years from now. Their work transcends the temporal, resonating with a timeless quality that speaks to the core of human experience. The band’s ability to weave together technical prowess, profound lyrical content, and hauntingly powerful melodies ensures that their legacy will endure, providing a source of inspiration and wonder for generations to come. Guys, thank you for sharing your gift with the world! Your music is a beacon of beauty and meaning, making the journey through life an immeasurably more wonderful and memorable experience. When Tool plays, everything else can pause. The rest can wait. The Rock demands to be played NOW in full, at a volume that far exceeding any standards of safety or sanity.
I was in high school in 96 when this came out. Still listening now. Got to see them 6 times during this era. Never stopped loving this album and band. Gonna see them for my 40th birthday next year.
Me too! Saw them 11 times though. The last time was at the Gorge in WA. Took my friend and she had so much mental overload she had to lay down for the show. A Tool show will reach into your soul, squeeze, release and repeat!
I love how Tool are free and creative enough to say all songs can be interpreted any way fans like. Subjectivity is a very beautiful thing and the lads from Tool understand this. With that being said, I think this is one of the greatest albums of all-time!
All Tool songs require an immense amount of time and effort. These masterpieces aren’t put together over a few drinks or emotional upheavals. This song is another creation of spirit and intellect. May we all be so privileged to pass this along to others as time goes by.
For sure! Just introduced my son to TOOL and when this Part came he was just in aweee. He was in awee for it all. But he said the Musicians are so fucking good Dad! Lol. Yes son,yes they are!
For the longest time I had only ever heard Vicarious, Schism, and Parabola because they're in Guitar Hero World Tour, and now its been a real treat to able to listen to their entire discography on Spotify and watch all the music videos on RUclips. They have now become my favorite band period.
This song helped me through some tough times, I was living in an abandoned warehouse for two months, no electric or water. I'll never forget it and keep on listening!
TOOL is just TOOL...Either people get it or they don't. That said, there will NEVER be an original band like them. 3 insanely talented musicians and a vocalist who's range is unmatched.
The fact that they do the Salival version of this song so differently, that they're both like completely different songs, is mind blowing. And awesome.
I saw is in concert on 3/4/22. My first Tool concert. Their music saved my life when I was at my darkest. This is one of my most favorite songs ever. When they played it I thought I’d die right there. I’m crying again just hearing and thinking about the show. Seeing them was on my bucket list. My abusers said I’d never get clean and I’d see Tool Live but I did and I am!! Tool gave me the strength to finally put a stop to their terror and to change my life. So when I say they saved me I mean that. This song was a huge part of my strength. When he sings “I am somewhere I don’t want be” I felt like they were with me, I wasn’t so alone. That whole verse he wrote for me. I know that’s not true but in a way it is. Then he reminds me “There’s no love in fear”, and he’s right. I saw God at the concert and his name is Maynard James Keenan.
Good for you. I saw them 2 days later on 3/6 for the first time and had very much the same experience as you did. I'm still blown away from the show. I didn't want it to end.
This is and probably always will be my favorite tool song. I heavily rely on music in my life. This has taken me where I needed to be so many times. It melts your face right the fuck off then glues it on again. Literally audio perfection.
Aenima is my favorite Tool album of all time. Hoping for a vinyl re-issue of this album or a well done remaster to vinyl. Sounds like these songs have been remastered for a digital release they sound great!
The amount of emotion in this song is beyond words. The middle section starting at 4:17 feels so dark, hopeless, yet peaceful. Then Adam comes in at 4:53 and brings a fearful tone. At 5:05 the bass brings a sense of hope amidst the realization that the current situation is not working.
Listening again and getting chills after escaping a violent relationship where I thought I was going to be killed. I’ve heard this song so many times before but the lyrics are hitting home with the emotions I’m experiencing. Music is the only thing to cure, comfort, and confront life.
I start and end my day always with their music, they give me something that no one ever will and it is a beautiful sense of belonging and understanding 🖤. They give me peace of mind.
When this album dropped we ate mushrooms and sat on a hill over looking our small town, and listened start to finish without speaking. The batteries probably cost 30$. Now I'm old and weed and shrooms are legal and Tool is the greatest psychedelic rock show in the solar system (to my knowledge anyway)

I had 4 teeth removed with no novacaine or any type of pain killers while listening to this in 2001. It was really intense. Jail dentist's taught me a memorable lesson that I keep to this day.
I just want to say... Maynard, the singer, the guy that has this channel, tries not to read comments. He would most likely see the top comments if he did read a few. But yeah, they're awsome!
They really do. I finally got to see them live in Columbus on 3/6. As far as concerts go, I have pretty much been there and done that, and literally got the T-Shirt. I was, and still am, blown away by how good these guys really are.
I just checked seeing tool live off my bucket list. Drove 250 miles to see them in Kansas City on 3/15/22. I was a little under the weather due to allergies but when the show started all my aches and pains faded away and I saw the best fucking show ever!!!
A lot of people ask me what my favorite song is and every time I just can't give them an answer. It's like asking me what my favorite breath of air is, every breath is life saving. Every song. I find that I favor different songs in different portions of my life, currently with all the stuff culminating I keep finding myself coming back to Pushit. There's something about the nearly 10 minute roller coaster that just speaks to me. I could go on a whole rant and include several different albums like Tomorrow Is Nearly Yesterday and Everyday Is Stupid by Crywank but I want to just take this moment to appreciate this piece of work. It's a centerpiece in my life currently. Thanks for listening.

What's coming through is alive
What's holding up is a mirror
But what's singing songs is a snake
Looking to turn this piss to wine
They're both totally void of hate
But killing me just the same
The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been

Open up my heart again
And I feel this coming over like a storm again
Considerately
Venomous voice, tempts me
Drains me, bleeds me
Leaves me cracked and empty
Drags me down like some sweet gravity
The snake behind me hisses

Beneath the storm
Under these tears
The walls came down
And the snake is drowned and
As I look in his eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of those times
I could have cried then
I should have cried then
And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times

For example The Grudge to me, I had a very spiritual experience and revelation and once I learned how to “tool properly” and figured it out (to me at least) it unlocked a flow in my consciousness. It was almost like a dmt trip without the visuals. It’s powerful stuff man.
An all-timer. People don't realize how good we had it in the 90s...

I hear you bro. I’m a core millennial so I was a little kid when this music came out but a have a lot of gen x freinds. Plus millennials got Lateralus.
Here are the lyrics. Enjoy!
-----------------------------------------------
Saw that gap again today,
While you were begging me to stay.
Take care not to make me enter,
If I do we both may disappear.
Know that I will choke until I swallow,
Choke this infant here before me.
What is this but my reflection?
Who am I to judge or strike you down?
But you're
Pushin' and shoving me.
Pushin' and shoving me
Pushin' and shoving me
Pushin' and shoving me
Pushin' and shoving me.
Pushin' and shoving me
Pushin' and shoving me
Pushin' and shoving me
You still love me, still love me,
Push it on me, push it on me.
You still love me, still love me.
Push it on me, push it on me.
Rest your trigger on my finger,
Bang my head upon the fault line.
You better take care not to make me enter.
'Cause if I do we both may disappear.
But you're
Pushin' and shoving me.
Pushin' and shoving me.
Pushin' and shoving me.
Pushin' and shoving me.
You still love me, still love me,
Push it on me, push it on me.
You're pushin' it, shoving me.
You're pushin' it, shoving me.
I'm slipping back into the gap again.
I'm alive when you're touching me,
But not when you're shoving me down.
But I'd trade it all
For just a little piece of mind.
Push it on me.
Push it on me.
Push it on me.
Push it on me.
Your Pushin' and shovin' and scramblin'
To keep my feet flat on the ground
I am somewhere I don't wanna be.
Push me somewhere I don't wanna be.
Put me somewhere I don't wanna be.
Seeing someplace I don't wanna see.
Never wanna see that place again.
Saw that gap again today
While you were begging me to stay.
Managed to push myself away,
And you, as well, my dear.
If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay,
You minimize my movement anyway,
One must persuade you another way.
Pushin', shovin', pushin', shovin, pushin me
There's no love in fear.
Staring down the hole again.
Hands are on my back again.
Survival is my only friend.
Terrified of what may come.
Remember I will always love you,
As I claw your fucking throat away.
There will be no other way,
It will end no other way.

At age 67, most of my favorite bands over the decades have retired. The beatles, led zeppelin, genesis, pink floyd, Jethro Tull, and rush. Thankfully tool is still around. I just hope I don't have to wait another 14 years before the next album.... don't think I'll make that long.

This section literally brings tears to my eyes.
The hook on wings pt 2 starting with "what are they gonna do when the lights go down" and ending with "10000 days in the fire is long enough" is mine

Tool are the masters of odd time signatures and rearranging scales.

With Tool you need to carefully choose when you listen to their songs. They're long, and you wouldn't want to pause even once. It ruins the flow.
When Tool plays, everything else can pause. The rest can wait. The Rock demands to be played NOW in full, at a volume that far exceeding any standards of safety or sanity.

One of Tool's best creations ever made
I saw is in concert on 3/4/22.
They played this when I saw them in DC. The first time I saw them touring for 10,000 Days, they played Pushit with trippy colors!
He revealed God to you. Maynard is only flesh.
I’ve just seen Tool live in London and holy shit I didn’t expect this song to be the one leaving me with my jaw on the floor. It was biblical.

Humanities ability to create cutting edge music peaked in the 90s/early 2000s.

What's your favorite song to hear after pushit?
In 98 I heard Sober for the first time. Shortly after that the guitar player of my band gave me Aenima to listen to. It was the first album I listened to from start to finish without skipping any tracks. I was blown away
Tool has gotten me through a lot of shit over the last 20 years. Undertow popped my cherry. This album. Lateralus then back to Opiate. I love their entire catalog. Much respect to some very hard rocking talented musicians.
Since you enjoy Opiate check out "Tool 72826". RUclips has a pretty good version of it so you don't have to go far. Enjoy!!
