Had the exact same problem a few years back.
When I made the mistake, I had seen Eric's video previously about that issue.
No panic. Just followed his advice and had perfect results.
Thanks again Eric for all your help and support.
I've been quiet, but still making sawdust.
Awesome, man! I'm glad it worked out👍👍 And no worries. Keep making that sawdust!
Howdy Mr. Eric.
Thank You for taking the time to show how to fix a mistake. As I was watching, I kept thinking 🤔, why is he bothering? It probably took more time to correct it than to just start over....he's so quick with the carvings, it would have saved so much time.
Ohhh...."THATS" why he did it, he was just showing a technique on how to fix something like that and as you mentioned towards the end, if it was an actual sign, you would have just started over.
I appreciate your time and effort in doing this video. Thank You. 😊
I'm glad it was helpful, Mike!
Great Tutorial... I can remember several years ago when this happened to me & I called you freaking out & you told me how to fix it😁
So Thankful for all the help you always provide for everyone💖
😂😂We're always happy to help!
Another great video....and a precise demonstration on how to recover from a mistake. Thanks again Eric.
Thanks, Frank!
I like your pragmatism on this, Eric. Yours is a much better way to salvage this project that using wood epoxy. Thanks for the tip and comprehensive demo.
Our pleasure, Stan!
Man I needed this video several times. Thank you for all the knowledge you share with all of us!
No problem, Garry!👍👍
I totally thought you were just going to bust out the wood putty… 😂 This is much better. Thanks for sharing this technique. 👍🏼
😂😂 I think this looks better
Now that was a great video. I am so thankful that you guys are my sign making teachers. You guys are a real blessing!!!
Thank you, Ron! We really appreciate all of your support!👍👍
I think we've all done this at least a time or 2 but this shows an easy way to fix mistakes before they become firewood thank you for all that you do for all of us
Our pleasure, Charlie!
Nice repair Eric...IVE BEEN BACK TO SOME CARVING LATELY...Getting ready to put the Bass boat in the lake soon.... Say hey to Vicki for me.
Thank you Bruce, tell Jimmy Houston I said howdy 😀😀😀
There today .... gone in an hour !!! That's the way ya do it ... Thanks for the video !!
Thanks, Gary!
This is great! I've always been worried and super careful because I was afraid to mess it up and having to start all over. Thanks for spreading the knowledge
Glad it was helpful, Aaron!
Great teaching video. This will definitely reduce my scrap wood pile.
😂😂 Thanks Brian!
Always good. Great tips as usual. If you're watching for the first time or checking it out every once in a while just subscribe so you don't miss anything. Always very informative.
Awesome, thanks Scott!
Thanks Eric, handy tip that. Good to see you in action, I’ve been out of doing signs for a bit but always happy to see your videos…cheers
Right on, buddy! Glad you're kicking out some sawdust!
Great recovery Eric! Learning so much from you guy’s. Thanks so much
Right on, Tom! I hope you're having fun with your carving!
That's AWESOME.....turned out so nice. Thanks so much for doing this video! I'll definitely refer back to it if I ever need to replace an area on a sign.
Thanks, Lori! Glad it was helpful!
Have not encountered this as of yet but after seeing this I am sure if I ever do that I can take care of the mistake. Thanks for demonstrating this my friend.
Glad it was helpful, buddy!
Loved this video! I get discouraged when I nick my letters but this offers hope
It happens to all of us, but this really does work well👍👍
Eric thanks for posting this video - just today I threw out a recently carved because I carved out the middle of an R - now I have a better idea how to fix this problem in the future.
Glad it was helpful, Burt!
Great idea. I hadn't thought of that for fixing mistakes. Thank you.
No problem, Pam!😀👍
It seems really great, the way you did it. Thanks for the demonstration.
No problem, Bill!
Thanks for this info. It's a great fear I have and I would have had no idea how to fix it. Now I won't worry so much. Great relief! Thanks!!!
No problem, Gayle!
Great fix! Another idea I just thought of, especially if its small and will be painted, would be to use a strong wood filler, then over fill it and carve it back out.
Great idea! Thanks Josh!
Yes, if the letters are painted, your idea is a time saver.
Thank you Eric for this video, I remember Frank saying something about asking you how to fix such as a mistake when you came to Austin but I didn't really hear how it was done, this is great you don't know how many signs I've thrown away but had I'd known this repair trick they could have been saved
Glad it was helpful, Mario! You're making some amazing stuff!
I would think that a cutoff of the original board would be better as the grain would match and there would be less to shape down.
That's definitely a possibility. It's all in the grain of the particular board you're using and how consistent it is.
Well dang, I'd have never thought of that! Wow!
😂😂Ya, dad's pretty creative!
Great video and that’s a awesome fix thanks for showing us how to fix a mistake 👍
Our pleasure, buddy!
A really helpful video. I have wondered how to address this problem.
Glad we could help, Monte!
This is a really great tip, and time saver. Thank you could save us hours and $$$$
Glad it was helpful, Gary!
I've repaired a few mistakes but not like this. I just cut out the place that was messed up, and cut a small piece of the same wood, and basically routed and sanded it till it matched. That seemed to work pretty well for me. Good video, though. I never thought of replacing the whole letter.
Great idea!
another great demo, and a wonderful tip. thanks.again i learned a lot.
Thanks, Emil! I'm glad it helped!👍👍
Wow amazing fix
Just a little lighter but wouldn't have noticed if not looking
Thanks Laura!
Thank you very much for your help.
No worries, Joe👍👍
thanks again really appreciate it love your tutorials.
Thank you Miss Sheila ❤
👍👍👍 Thanks Eric. Great idea.
Thanks, Pete!
Thanks for the tip😊
Any time!👍👍
Great job 👍..just a little nervous with you wearing gloves on the band saw . I knew a guy that had gloves on cutting in band saw and it got caught on blade and didn't end well ..just my 2 cents..love your videos great job keep up the hard work
Thanks buddy! I get that comment quite a bit, but I just feel more comfortable with gloves on👍👍
Wow thank you thank you I am a beginner I really needed this 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂 We've all been there
Been there done that EZ E...🤘🤘🤘
😂😂 I think we all have, buddy!
Another great video was that Kevlar gloves you were using on the bandsaw I been thinking about picking up a pair I sliced the tip of my fingers off on the bandsaw a little over a month ago and been thinking about picking up some Kevlar gloves if so how do you like them
Thanks, Robert! No, those are just MaxiFlex gloves. I probably should get some kevlar though
@@oldave100 The only problem with wearing gloves the glove could get caught and pull you hand into the blade but on the flip side we know how strong Kevlar is your damn if you do damn if you don’t
Ain't that the truth!😂👍
How would you fix if the letters were inset?
Well, if the letters were inset, you'd have to feather out any bobbles or shaky lines and try to keep it as close to the same size as the others.
Artista 👍👍👍🍷🍷
Thank you❤
Genius!
Thanks man!
brilliant
Thank you!👍👍
Nice video
Thanks, Robb!
I loved what you did. Couldn’t you have just carve out an S on another piece of wood and then glued it in place.
Thanks, Greg!. Carving on that small of a piece is a real pain. Plus, you have to sand it down to the height of the board first.
@@oldave100 I see hadn’t thought of that. Guess you’d have to have a piece of wood the right thickness and then the grain would have matched as well as the way you did it.
Great idea, not that we make misedackes lol
😂😂 oh no, definitely not!😂😂
I make plenty of them lol😂
😂😂You and me both, buddy!
Hey, that technically counts as an inlay, right?😁
😂😂 Actually, I think it is!
Thanks to Biden/Kamala's inflation I can't afford to make any mistakes.
😂😂😂😂😂
