I LOVE when people do native collecting videos, it's so cool to see what's available in different parts of the country/world. A bunch of us fishfam peeps should do at least one collecting video before the end of summer. That would be cool!
Dear Angelo: I was disheartened to see that someone gave you a "thumbs-down," when I watched this video. I wanted to give some thought to my comment before composing it. I think it's great that you have success with native species. If you can keep them healthy and happy, they are likely to live longer in your care than in the wild, where they have to avoid predators. I do want to encourage you to check your traps often. The space in this one seems quite small for these fish. I think I'd panic if caught in such a small space (relative to my size). Also, the trap may cause a build-up of ammonia (as the captive urinate) and carbon dioxide (as the captives respirate). Hi Brinegar. That’s ok some videos aren’t for everyone. They are in my pond they seem to be doing fine and come out of the rocks when I drop in food. Which I believe is a good sign. We usually check the trap daily and on the weekends 2 times a day. There are actually holes in the bottom and I try to place it where the mouth of the bottle is facing the flow of water. but it caught clogged by sand in this shot unfortunately thanks so much for taking your time to watch as always great to see ya Brinegar.
Looks fun....one time when Jack was barely 3, we went fishing at a local little pond and caught a massive monster goldfish someone probably let go there....not a good idea of course....but it was a beautiful specimen so we took it home and put it in one of our tanks, where it lived for many years....he still tells everybody about it because it was so huge and so orange....
This is a beautiful forest area and great looking place to collect fish angelo i can imagine all the cool fish that could be thier and aquatic plants too .

So far we been catching chubs and crayfish I’m still hoping to get something a little more interesting we’re gonna keep trying. I actually have my eye on a few plants 😊. They have a few types here in our area but I’m not sure if there’s any in the creek or not but we’re definitely gonna keep trying. We been catching mostly chubs and crayfish thus far. I’m thinking about trying a different location next weekend to see if I can collect any other types then I been getting. Maybe I’ll put the trap out on Saturday and take it back up on Sunday to see what I can find. I know a few spots where I see babies all the time although I have no idea what they are. We’ll see 😊
