a god awful maze followed by some of the most difficult bosses ever....and yet this was always the level that always stayed in my mind. this game rules
Don't usually comment like this, but God, this game one one of the ones that defined mine and my cousin's early love of gaming. Hearing this brings back so many memories...Thanks for u/l 'ing this!
I've played through this game so many times that I can beat it without using a single herb, and it's reached the point where I don't think of Mu as being difficult anymore. But seeing these comments has reminded me of how much trouble I had on my first playthrough.
Mu is definitely one of those areas in a video game that you HATE but the game just couldn't be without. When I went from Sky Garden to Mu I was thinking, "Are you shitting me? Pretty sure there was no "level up" anytime in this game ANYWHERE, assholes!"
I love the heavy percussion that is found throughout this game's entire OST, it gives it such an extremely strong and unique musical identity that makes it a standout in the already excellent SNES musical library. I can't think of many games that have such heavy theming throughout their entire soundtrack. This particular track is my favorite.
Yeah this was the one dungeon me, my brother, and stepdad kept getting stuck at. Back then, we rented it, we had no idea how to beat it, and the instruction booklet was tattered to sheds (which for all we know might've been from the previous renter's dog). Eventually I decided to ask for a fresh copy for christmas so I could finally beat this haunting level for good, with the help of an undamaged booklet which might as well have been the game's miniature strategy guide. *sigh* Nostalgia... ~_~
Dang, I guess the old manuals were really good. I think Ocarina of Time had a guide in it, but maybe I am mistaken. I definitely used some weird guide pamphlet to beat it, while Majora's Mask I had a proper book for.
Actually, the first time yes! it was too annoying..but the second time i just loved it. and i dare to say it s my favorite place today, probably also because i love mu´s mithology and somehow i have a nostalgic feeling as i heard something about it.
Mu is Atlantis. Strangely enough the guy who decided to decipher the Mayan language just invented random letters for the hieroglyphs he found. Two of which represented some sort of sunken island, and in his "translated" script it was "Mu".
Not sure where MU itself is in real life, but if I remember correctly, on the game's world map (or on the map that was inside the game box that my family had), MU is around the general area of an island that looks sort of like Easter Island. My guess is that MU is sort of a legend of sorts.
Ever since some scientists dug up some of those Moai statues and found out they have little bodies underneath, all sorts of wild theories on their culture started rising up as well. Dunno If waxing off about this helps 13 years later, but I still thought I'd chime in. xD
Gaaah MU, this was a very tedious temple with lots of backtracking, confusing and it nags on your nervs. The Song actually captures the mood there perfectly. Gaia, one of the best games.
When I think about it I didn’t care for the Sky Garden but at least in Mu you had to explore to find the key items you needed. And then The Great Wall was to long ( no pun intended ) and it seemed endless.
a hard maze-like level(the instruction manual evens warns the game difficulty spikes here) with one of the most difficult bosses, but still one of my favorite most-remembered parts of the game. plus the theme is pretty epic too
Yeah. Those vampires are an absolute pain. There's two of them, Their combination attack hurts like a mofo, AND you have a time limit. I beat them as will, but only so I could use my slide attack to avoid the combo attack.
@@rrkwarmonger Right?? Mu is amazing. The pyramid is ridiculously more difficult and Mt. Kress is easier to get lost in, so idk what the complaint is. :/
@@heathers.7755 I think the biggest criticism of My from gamers is... A) Having to lower the water level times, which makes some enemies easy to miss. B) The super powerful enemies C) All the backtracking Mu requires, especially if you'd rather fight the vampires as Freedan
@Thedutchjelle It sure wasn't easy. I think in retrospect I might have made it harder than it needed to be, but this was certainly the high point in difficulty in the game, especially if you hadn't been diligently clearing every map area before now.
@Thedutchjelle Probably just speaking for myself. I was 13 when the game came out. I always find old games are easier in the tough parts when I go back and play them again much later.
It's confusing on the first playthrough that's for sure, took me a good time to get through when i first played this game, but great temple and the music- fantastico!
Mu? Mu is fucking easy. At some point you get Psycho Slider and then everything becomes running around sliding everywhere because it's awesome. Having trouble with the boss? Too bad, use Psycho Slider and be invincible the entire time while dealing damage to both of them. EZPZ.
You know what was worse then the puzzles in Mu? Only having one hit point and those floating cloaked guys shooting those plasma circles at you. I had to slide out of their way just to stop myself from dying, but unfortunately I ran into one at the time.
haha fuck this place!! omg...I remember walking around lost as hell..and then finally finding it and it was one slightly different left then the one I took before....
To me it seems like once you got to the vampires they did not seem must of a challenge I actually defeat both of them at the same time. Too bad there had to be a bomb within the whole scenario. I have to agree fighting those vampire was enough.
@Ayzahar I read somewhere on wikipedia that there is a rumor that mu was another continent lost alltogether that was of a civilization even older than egyptian culture. What i want to know,is where did they get some of the statue of faces? And is it really atlantis?
I only hate Mu when I'm there. The Vampires were some of the most difficult Bosses to beat in any game I've played (although it got easier as I got older, the first time I was 8). Still tho... I feel the rage deep down inside for this sadistic level bubble and creep up when I hear the music... The memory of ALWAYS dying on the very first mob in that level makes me sick, but I wouldn't change a single thing about the game. The difficulty is weaksauce leaving the character xD!
Why were water temples so damn hard and annoying in the good ol' days? I always HATED doing this level. You always had to backtrack. I don't know, the feeling of this level was just annoying. So was Mt. Temple I love this game, and love going back and playing it. Sometimes I wish they would port it to VC, DS, or maybe remake it for some system. Either way, I LOVED this game
It doesn't. It's suppose to represent Atlantis. This Spaniard decided to destroy all writing tablets of the MAYA, and a few that survived he decided to translate on the whim. One of which he said represented Atlantis, and the Mayans called it Mu. So Mu = Atlantis.
@bart78170 ye i fucking hated that piece of shit level! and its music! argh :D but was a good game.. i just never found out why the hell i tear my ass up to find 50 jewels, beat that monster boss thing, and then nothing happened... haha :D
I felt so lost on Mu because there was no city to turn back to and your only way is forward.... Absolutely epic...
Normally I don't make comments like this but I can't believe no one said it yet. The two vampires disliked. There I said it.
Xd
Mu is probably one of the hardest dungeons I'll ever play in a videogame.
It's just pure evil.
Def the get good or quit part of the game
a god awful maze followed by some of the most difficult bosses ever....and yet this was always the level that always stayed in my mind. this game rules
this music will be burned into your skull as you run around constantly trying to find where to go.
Don't usually comment like this, but God, this game one one of the ones that defined mine and my cousin's early love of gaming. Hearing this brings back so many memories...Thanks for u/l 'ing this!
Mu is a legendary continent, supposedly located somewhere in the South Pacific.
I've played through this game so many times that I can beat it without using a single herb, and it's reached the point where I don't think of Mu as being difficult anymore. But seeing these comments has reminded me of how much trouble I had on my first playthrough.

The music and the game itself is AWESOME! The game begins a little blah, but it gets REALLY interesting =D

This is the biggest challange in the game and also one the hardest bosses in the game next to solid arm use will the most in this stage.
I wish if it existed i could see the real mu.The architecture looked amazing.
looked kind of greek
1994: one day i find mu! 😤
Family/friends: of course! 😏
2023: play this soundtrack! 😁
Family/friends: 😳!
Actually, the first time yes! it was too annoying..but the second time i just loved it. and i dare to say it s my favorite place today, probably also because i love mu´s mithology and somehow i have a nostalgic feeling as i heard something about it.
I love 1:38 to 1:53 :)
And the bosses were awesome, although annoying at first as I had no idea how to handle them lol.
Aurg, I would always get stuck in this dungeon for the longest time!! Even though I didn't like the level, I loved the music ^^;
Same. Playing this game rn and that's my exact reaction
Mu is Atlantis. Strangely enough the guy who decided to decipher the Mayan language just invented random letters for the hieroglyphs he found. Two of which represented some sort of sunken island, and in his "translated" script it was "Mu".
gotta love that heavy bass line

The only thing hard about this game is that the healing items were finite, and that really was unforgivable.
Gaaah MU, this was a very tedious temple with lots of backtracking, confusing and it nags on your nervs. The Song actually captures the mood there perfectly. Gaia, one of the best games.
Not to mention a boss battle that was insanely difficult for little kid me. I was stuck in this stage for soooo long.
When I think about it I didn’t care for the Sky Garden but at least in Mu you had to explore to find the key items you needed. And then The Great Wall was to long ( no pun intended ) and it seemed endless.

I lost myself so many times in the fu++ing dungeons of Mu...but I could not stop playing.
I think we can all agree this place SUCKED
Worst dungeon in the game.............
The vampires!!!
How? Because it was too difficult? The vampires were a fun boss fight as well
@@rrkwarmonger Right?? Mu is amazing. The pyramid is ridiculously more difficult and Mt. Kress is easier to get lost in, so idk what the complaint is. :/

This level was a bitch, especially the boss(es). They were even hard when I had to revisit them in Babel!
Fight the vampires as Will
It's confusing on the first playthrough that's for sure, took me a good time to get through when i first played this game, but great temple and the music- fantastico!
Got through Mu all on my own, no help at all! FERK YERRR
...doesn't mean it wasn't insanely hard, though :P
Mu? Mu is fucking easy. At some point you get Psycho Slider and then everything becomes running around sliding everywhere because it's awesome. Having trouble with the boss? Too bad, use Psycho Slider and be invincible the entire time while dealing damage to both of them. EZPZ.
It is already 2019 and the two vampires were the only ones who disliked this video
This level pissed me off daily.
_Don't Open_
_Vampire Inside_
Mu...just a few words:
Its hard, you get lost cause everything looks the same and the Bosses were unforgivingly hard.
You know what was worse then the puzzles in Mu? Only having one hit point and those floating cloaked guys shooting those plasma circles at you. I had to slide out of their way just to stop myself from dying, but unfortunately I ran into one at the time.
haha fuck this place!! omg...I remember walking around lost as hell..and then finally finding it and it was one slightly different left then the one I took before....
ya boss at mu, stuck on it for 10 years before i went back and was able to beat it
To me it seems like once you got to the vampires they did not seem must of a challenge I actually defeat both of them at the same time. Too bad there had to be a bomb within the whole scenario. I have to agree fighting those vampire was enough.

Psycho Slider may now be used!
The Vampires were the toughest bosses in this game.
@Thedutchjelle you're right, but try with Tales of Phantasia and the Moria gallery, THAT is hard D:
greetings! ;)
Ugh...memories of constantly going the wrong way, retracing steps, losing all my lives...I freakin' hate this stage. Music's good though.
Hahahahahahaha goddamn Water Temples XD XD XD
Never had much trouble with the dungeon itself. The boss WAS tough, though.
@mintyfreshsage The rest of the game is rewarding? No, getting THROUGH Mu is rewarding. :-)
In my mind i think Mu translates into Hell for me
Love the Game and its music
2 people failed to get past Mu
Mirage22X the vampires
@Thedutchjelle This game was fun but THIS particular level ran me dizzy around in circles it was torture. Good music now though.

@azuarc
Huh, what do you mean "I might have made it harder".
You designed this game? Or was it poorly worded?
Why were water temples so damn hard and annoying in the good ol' days?
I always HATED doing this level. You always had to backtrack. I don't know, the feeling of this level was just annoying. So was Mt. Temple
I love this game, and love going back and playing it. Sometimes I wish they would port it to VC, DS, or maybe remake it for some system. Either way, I LOVED this game
Where is MU located on Earth?
It doesn't. It's suppose to represent Atlantis.
This Spaniard decided to destroy all writing tablets of the MAYA, and a few that survived he decided to translate on the whim. One of which he said represented Atlantis, and the Mayans called it Mu. So Mu = Atlantis.
Amazing place good music hated the bosses 😡🤬
@bart78170 LMAO YA
I HATED this place! It was cool and all, but the vampires gave me a lot of trouble. Mu was, like, the beginning of the Water Temples! lol
i hated this lvl it took me like a year to get past it
I hate the stretchy necked things. They're scary ._.
@bart78170
ye i fucking hated that piece of shit level! and its music! argh :D
but was a good game.. i just never found out why the hell i tear my ass up to find 50 jewels, beat that monster boss thing, and then nothing happened...
haha :D
How are people finding this level tough?
The first time playing through is very confusing if you don't know where to go, especially as a child. Quit trollin son
As a kid I thought it was very tough. But when I've replayed the game a few months ago, it wasn't so hard at all.
