They never really had a lot of exposure. Popular SWAC teams have great media teams. They have had great appearances the last few years. I say it’s too much competition to give them top 5 imo

A&M has had an up and down road but their field shows have been fire lately and they’re are at the top for cleanliness. People didn’t feel as if they were as organic as the others. It’s honestly the DD4L wave that sparked newly founded interest in the HBCU dance lines. It has its bad and good, but overall that is why the big 4 has the attention it has today.
I think it’s more so the different schools reputations and the anticipation of their dance lines when it comes to HBCU band programs to me. AAMU isn’t a “touring” type of program. They are a very classy, well balanced band but popularity comes with thinking “Outside of the box” per say. DIVAS wise are working on that “it” and “pop” and have been engaging more eyes over the years. It takes time to “break the internet” but we know The Divas eat the field down and snappy and sassy in the stands. AAMU is giving a little more bite now overall from their program so maybe more people will see and look into them now. Fan fans know AAMU been something to watch. (Crank Fest, parade line up battles, gym battles, costumes) all play a significant part in exposure in the band world. Sorry for talking your ears off lol
