Could the "mass psychosis" and conditioning you speak of be "the veil" that I feel has been placed over our Western societies.
Just a thought as I have noticed this is certainly a much more magical place than most seem to realise.

This morning on my typical deviceless walk, I found myself whistling back to the birdsongs I was hearing, and began to notice new and exotic ones, far beyond my ability to emulate. (I fancy myself a whistling Messiaen.) I live a quiet introverted life unanwering to phones and other killpeaces. The Tao that can be yelled is no Tao at all. Peace, y'all. Xiexie.

Beautiful podcast guys. Emphasizing humility, balance and doing what NEEDS to be done is key. It is true that the more we try to control, the less authentic we are. And those who just like the sound of their own voices are listening to fools. "Trust the universe" cannot be stressed enough. Thank you !!

Thank you so much for the beautiful modern insight into nature of Us then and now. Your take on India spot on, everything is designed here for a distinct experience. Literally, nowhere to hide. Super fertile spiritual land, come and you shall blossom. I remember leaving alone for months in very secluded place and, as you have pointed out, I had to do what needed to be done, never feared anything, never been bored, with no data nor TV, no electricity on regular basis. It was truly my time, like a test to survive in best possible way. Zen alike. Now I know that I was there, to learn and imbibe such truthful, joyful life when in the city and in society. The urban monk-hood, it's happening. And hey guys, you are so genuine in conversation looking and listening to each other so intently. Very powerful and sincere talk🙏

I’ve been so inpatient waiting for something in the future that i think will bring me happiness. I started to focus more in today. Making things around me beautiful. Such as gardening. But i have to sweat and get dirty doing it. I am immersing my self in labor. Such as painting the interior of my dingy interior home. I don’t like to paint. As i do these labors i learned to enjoy them and watch the beauty of what my hands can create. My labors are hard but somehow bringing me peace and beauty to my eyes. The labor is meditating. i learned that how i live often reflects the interior of my mind. I love this lecture. It guides me into living in peace and to stop forcing my life to be somewhere in the future.

I always felt this passage was much more simple, though I appreciate the discussion, always..."storms don't rage all night"...has always meant to me that problems will arise and then resolve to calm without having to do much or anything at all.
And speaking less, silence has always been a great store of strength. It reminds me of an analogy I heard years ago regarding a mutal friend: I have never heard someone talk so much and say so little.

To avoid the psychosis within society, wherein everyone is far removed from the Tao of our own nature, one needs to detach from people. I prefer time alone, but when with others, while respecting them, I don't take their words/opinions/biases on board. I distance myself from these things psychologically so that I am not disturbed. That's my ideal of course, not always truly followed, but I know what I'm aiming for. Nature created us, so we need to follow her rules and laws for optimum happiness. Having been brought up amongst farming communities, I do notice that society today is made up of people who are not tough and resilient. It's as though we are whining four-year-olds.

Thank you both for these talks, I always learning something new from them. As for talking, if we apply the saying "quality over quantity", people for sure would be talking a LOT less! It appears to me that silence is often seen as uncomfortable, awkward and meaningless, almost negative but as we know, excessive talking can lead to all sorts of problems like judgements about people, gossip and you know the rest. It's not like you're going to stop existing if you're silent and contemplative from time to time.

Most people can't climb a tree or knit a sweater. Let's work on bringing these back. Forget about weapons. Those times you pine for are in the past thank goodness! Weak people fight for power with weapons and words. Strong people have self control and don't seek outside themselves.

This is interesting for me as a transgender Buddhist/follower of the Tao. Transitioning isn’t inherently delusional. If your house is burning down you don’t stay put because that’s what you’d naturally be doing. You get out and then build a new house. Transitioning is the same.
They are many ways that transgender people can fall into delusions because gender is empty but I think if someone transitions with care they can avoid that. I see myself as a man of transgender experience. Clinging to the label of transgender after you have successfully transitioned is attachment.
I can also see how transitioning is inherently confrontational. You are “imposing” your new identity on to people. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be this way. When I transitioned I introduced myself to new people as a man but for people who weren’t close to me but still knew me pre-transition I said nothing. They naturally came to me and asked me what was going on over time. This method was way more natural. But my method isn’t very practical for a lot of people who are suffering because it is a slow method.
Ultimately I think all people should drop attachments to any identities and the over identification of people in the lgbt community isn’t healthy.
I’d like to have conversations about how trans people fit into the Tao if anyone is interested.

I only talk to myself out loud, does that count? Not zen enough? lol . I just don't have anything to say to other people. We're all stuck in a cycle that we can't really do anything about, what's the point? Other people want to talk about personal responsibility and how they are movers and shakers and can move destiny where they wish, but they're just deluded. What is there to talk to them about when they just want to talk about their crazy talk that society programmed them to believe.

    @Jason, loving your work !
A couple of observations if I may,
    1) Initial few minutes were unfortunately sounding like a lot of rambling, please could you meditate on it? Maybe I'm wrong but there was a feeling of your talk getting caught on a loop about humility, society etc
    2) Comfortablity and convenience, why is it so bad? The lady living atop the mountain in China is also living a life of comfort - within the framework of what's available to her in that habitat. So your words again seem to confuse the listener, in that, it makes them question if they should accept and enjoy - OR- reject and feel guilty of their material comfort/convenience? Sorry but I am sincerely listening to your podcasts, and where I have doubts I ask.
3)Are you creating all this content which CAN ONLY BE CONSUMED via a phone/screen? 🤔

And personnaly i feel also that the comparison with the reste of nature are not always relevant. I totally agree that there is too much blabla talk agitation and noise in our societies. But my point is that maybe the problem is also to be aware. Also when we say that nature is not noisy, is it true ? We cannot hear the noise but there is a loooooot of informations shared between trees, or just btw our cells ! So maybe the question is do we know how to really communicate maybe in a less noisy way, more conscious way ? And are we enough aware of what we want to say ?
      Sorry for my english
