- Explore Ilulissat, Greenland with me in this part 2 of my walk-and-talk video as I walk through the streets of this charming city of Ilulissat, Greenland.
Ilulissat means Icebergs. It has the biggest icebergs you'll see outside Antarctica. Ilulissat Icebergs come from Jakobshavn Glacier known as Ilulissat glacier, which is the world’s fasted glacier and moves up to 40 meters per day. The iceberg that sank the Titanic was probably born in Ilulissat. Ilulissat was founded in 1741. The population is approximately 4530.
The midnight sun lasts between 27 May and 18 July. The sun never sets on the town of Ilulissat during this period. This experience, known as the Midnight Sun, only occurs above the Arctic Circle.

You've gotta be a hearty soul to live there...I'm seeing mostly very young folks and very few older ones. Just as in Nuuk, there appears to be virtually no wheelchair access to houses and buildings. Very interesting but tough life. What is a "good meal" in Greenland? What sort of food is served at the hotel(s) you mention?
They serve fish, beef, chicken, etc and also vegetarian meals. There is also an Indian restaurant a few steps away from the hotel.
You explain things very well. It's strange that there was no employee to check the ticket in the art museum. Thieves can easily steal the paintings inside.
Thank you for the kind feedback. It is quite a small city with a very small community. Almost everybody trusts each other and the crime rate is very low.
