You guys hardly featured it and zero comparisons you should wait to spring and cruise it south with another convertible let's see some road tests with it outt on the track at least once . And guys come on with the detailing of the engine and car u gotta know a good detail guy detail that engine bay condition those leather seats shampoo those carpets show it some love
Also fixing up a Saab 900 Turbo convertible. Bought from New York. Was not in the greatest condition a lot of work on it but it's fun 😀 🤣 Great video thanks for sharing again. Good luck with the sale
On the radio-depress and hold the band button until it gives you the CODE prompt. Then enter the correct code. You get three trys and then you will be locked out, if that happens you need to leave the radio powered up for like an hour, then you will have the code prompt return.
the air conditioning is KAPUTT!! xD But if you like the automatic soft turbo then you will LOVE the full turbo with 5 speed manual gearbox. You really need to drive one.
My first car was a red ‘68 SAAB 95 wagon with 1500cc V-4 engine and a “4-on-the-tree” shifter. I later had a ‘72 SAAB Sonett sports car, also with a V-4 engine. They were both a lot of fun, but they were more fun to not own after I moved on to more reliable and better-supported vehicles. I wouldn’t want a Turbo convertible, but a non-turbo hatchback 900 might lure me back to the marque.
Saab made great cars until GM got ahold of them and ruined them. Top gear did a test where they bought a hardtop Saab and a BMW 5 series of the same year. They turned them upside down and dropped them from about 8 feet. The Saab roof had almost no deformation and the BMW completely collapsed. Thanks GM.
no they were NOT... i remember these cars in the early 1970 and they were quirky, unreliable junk then... the reason GM bought into them was because they had terrible quality control and half the cars they sold lived in shops... if they were successful GM would never have had the opportunity... not like GM bought Toyota! haha
@@philtripe ya I guess so we're even the one sold in Europe crap I know there was a few models that were unreliable but there is also a few models that were good
Would have been cheaper on the rear window if you would have used a larger one that was correct for the year of the car. The earlier gun slit one do look cooler though, but visibility not so good. Just install a backup camera and infotainment system to bring it out of the Big Eighties and into this century. But dad still thinks the 80's tech is rad!
I'd love to have it, grew up in SAABs and wish I had the space for one.... especially if it was a 5 spd vs the 3 spd auto - Thanks Tommy/TFL for saving this one!
I've had 4 and they are so cool to look at. to bad they have moped motors . just got rid of my C4 corvette and got a 93 two door hatch... it's almost laughable at how under powered they are. I would love to do a body swap with a mustang. I know it can be done cause I've got pictures of a purple one that was sold on ebay about 5 years ago. I wanted to buy that car but wasn't able to at the time. But now I would pay anything for that car cause it would save me so much time and money to buy it after the hard work was already done. It was a two door hatch back and had purple paint with yellow trim. and big rear tires. and was rear wheel drive cause the bottom of the car was a ford mustang. but not sure which one cause I'm a GM guy. The car disappeared and I never saw it again. It must have been bought by a Saab guy like me that loves the cars but hate the motors.
I think 4900 is ambitious. The dull color combination and automatic really hurt it. I like them though had red 91 Stick conv and my mom had 89 White with maroon interior one. Personally if I ever got another it is worth holding out and paying a bit more for a nicer one. Frankly the best of the best can be had for 10k... For instance in SD a dealer has 94 final edition, black tan 5sp with 82k miles for 9k... Maybe I'll sell my Range Rover classic to make room for it...
Lovely car, had a couple of hard tops. I would still have one if the auto was more common in the UK. The clutches are monsters. The aircon could be a vac leak, even the heater control is a dozen vacuum lines behind the dial. Wind the actuator rod out 6 turns & they fly :-)
I had an Aunt that drove Volvo and SAAB I like the car. My daughters would love the convertible. I am on the wrong side of the country but you will sell it quick. What are you doing on the seats for the little car?
Its like a cute puppy looking at you with big eyes. You can't resist that clamshell hood, rounded glass windscreen, super durable and comfortable leather seats! Build quality near Volvo or Mercedes at a fraction of the price. You must buy it!
Loved mine right up until a truck driver decided to hit a bunch of parked cars. BUT you need a mechanic who knows how to maintain once - it'll leave your local one a little baffled. Also get your parts from Europe......much cheaper and way more plentiful. Whoever gets this - keep it - it'll be a classic.
Selling a car mostly hand built by svelte Finnish studs and maidens for a car built by craggy old Englishmen headed down to the pub or on strike! Endless money pit!
Saabs, Mini Coopers, old Benzes. Why? Because they're cheap? How about some real classics? You know, ones that have numbers like 454, 427, 396, 289, etc... You know, ones that viewers might actually care about.
David’s ‘92 Chevy is a 454. I Don’t think we’re gonna be doing anything you seem to like anytime soon to be honest. We do the off-beat affordable classics, mostly after 1980. And for the most part people really seem to like it!

Bummer to see this Saab 900 go 😪, truly a classic in automotive history, there's nothing like a Saab. Thank you Tommy 🙂, have a good day.
I used to own an ‘87 Saab. Just a plain Jane nothing special car. I loved it. So fun to drive.
I wish you had done more vids on the Saab. I love the car!

Really cool car. Friend's brother bought one new in '85. Black. Fast for it's time.
Those were sad times. I lived them.
I miss my 92 Saab 900S but I am driving the closet thing to it - a 2020 base Subaru WRX

I love that car. I was very jealous when I first saw it. I’m a sucker for any imported convertible
I have this exact car. Mines a 1990. Yeah, I've stuck about 9k into it. But it's worth it when people stop in their tracks to give thumbs up.

Nice looking interior. Beautiful

Minnesota.. so it has rust underneath?
A little rusty by Colorado standards. Super clean and rust free by Minnesota standards!

1st... we hardly knew you Saab....
I would have kept the Saab over the Mini, but hey, that's just me. The Mini is a cool car as well. Good luck.
K all that is great, but do the headlight wipers work?
Wish it was on an auction site like cars and bids

Thanks, Tommy. What was Saab's niche? Convertable from Minnesota, thinking 3 months of top-down weather?
So what did it sell for? I'm going to look at one Saturday.
Lovely car, had a couple of hard tops. I would still have one if the auto was more common in the UK. The clutches are monsters. The aircon could be a vac leak, even the heater control is a dozen vacuum lines behind the dial. Wind the actuator rod out 6 turns & they fly :-)
Ya that was the only problem with older cars that everything was vacuum operatored
It's obvious TFL doesn't detail their vehicles. Detailing would make a huge difference, even the shade tree type.
Did it end up selling?

Super cool. Too bad parts are so hard to get.

Love the channel, but good lord is that price high. I was debating buying a Saab as a beater car because late 90’s manuals were a grand.
some1 who has 2 saab can get grandmas fixed up real nice1. If not a saab nut hard sell but reliable convertibles never go out of fav.
You really should clean the car properly. A good proper detailing. Just saying. 😎
It looked like the fuel gauge was going down as the turbo gauge went up
Export it to Sweden! You can get between $15-20000
probably should have waited to sell until spring
Happy to see it love to own it too I'd give you $ 2,500.for it if we split the shipping to Massachusetts?
No thanks
wish it was a manual..:(
Is the channel turning into a used cars for sale infomercial ? Sure feels like it.
