      That is really nice of you to say. I'm happy you feel that way. I'm not going to turn the channel into RC 24/7, but there will be a lot of regularly scheduled RC content in the future. I have so much fun playing it, I find it hard to play anything else! Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you continue to enjoy the channel. Have a wonderful and fun day!

      @TotallyTabled hi Shaggy! Based on your other collectors edition review, I also do not need the extra minis. Is it better to just buy the latest 2021 core game + book of adventures kickstarter bundle? (Includes unlocked Stretch Goals for 5 scenarios, Deck of Inventions, folded pocket, and 20 new Challenge)...? What would I miss out on? This will be my first time playing this and am excited by your playthrough.

    Love it! Another classic RC play through. I love how RC is able to change up a few elements, but keep the same basic rule set, and make you feel like you’re playing a different challenge. It literally never gets old. I’m eyeing up my copy of RC now and wondering if I have time this evening to get a game in…

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +2

      I agree! I can't think of another game like RC that can shift between themes and tones and mechanisms with a single page of additional rules. A game like Pandemic kinda does it, but you need to buy separate base games. I think RC is one of a kind. I hope you find time to table this and have a great time! Thanks, Emma!

      I might have ripped up the card if that happened. But that would have been great content! :) Sometimes as a player I'm hoping for good luck, but as a content creator I'm hoping for something entertaining, which often means bad luck. That was a moment when I was divided. But hey, I'll take it. Thanks so much for watching!

  • @warpo007
    @warpo007 6 месяцев назад +3

    RC is such a savage game. I remember i took about 20 wounds during setup. haven't revisited it since, but you inspire me for more punishment. i really have no idea of strategy so it's good to see one of my mentors have the same rolls as i do.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah, it is a brutal game for sure. There are several ways to reduce the difficulty (like the dog) and with the new Book of Adventures, they've designed less punishing scenarios. After you've played the game a bunch you start to understand its quirks and RC loses a few of its teeth. But the bite never goes away. Best advice is to keep that morale track high, take chances early, and spend those determination tokens wisely. It feels bad to fail a roll, but you fail forward in this game and those 2 determination tokens you get as a consolation prize can sometimes be more valuable than the action you failed. It is a funny game like that. RC is all about timely risk taking and risk management, along with resource management. Good decision making will almost always reward you with an exciting finish, win or lose. Thanks so much for supporting the channel and I hope you have fun with RC if you bring it back to the table!

      Yeah, it really feels like they released an RC sequel, not just an expansion. Double or triple the content. Amazing. They need to market this Book of Adventures. They could keep this game going forever just by releasing a new book every 5 years. There's just nothing else like RC. Thanks for watching! I'm happy you enjoyed the playthrough.

    Also, have you ever tried picking lottery numbers using your event card selection technique?

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +2

      Ha, well that technique didn't work so well in my Volcano Island playthrough. :) But, yeah, I was happy as a player but disappointed as a content creator when I kept missing those adventure cards. I wanted to cheat and redraw so I would hit one of them, but I keep my playthroughs honest regardless of how dumb or lucky I look. These things happen. I had a roll there in like the 3rd round that would have ended the game in 20 minutes. As I rolled I was contemplating what to do if I lost. :) Luckily, I didn't need to decide. 1/6th chance and all. Thanks so much for watching!

    Wonderful! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Your positive attitude and rolling with the misery of the game really makes it an entertaining watch. I hope your kids get as much fun out of it as you do.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah, you need a good attitude when playing good survival games -- they want to break your will. You need to keep your morale track high ... and in the game (to steal an old Shut Up and Sit Down joke). I haven't subjected my kids to this one yet, but my wife and I have fun playing it. We play it as a "shared solo experience," where we just discuss what we think the best plan is, come to a consensus, and then I can execute the rules so she doesn't have to learn them all. This is a fun way to play co-ops sometimes. Anyway, thanks so much checking out the playthrough!

    Isn't "lose half your roof rounded down" actually 0 when roof is at 1? .5 rounded down is nothing.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +2

      It definitely reads that way, but I'm pretty sure they mean the opposite. If you read the rules for moving your camp, they use "rounded up" to mean "in your favor." Also thematically it wouldn't make sense to not lose a roof level and then repair for a cheap extra roof level. As a rule, events are bad and loopholes are not intended. But I could be wrong. Thanks for watching.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  3 месяца назад +1

      Wow, first, thank you for checking out all the RC playthroughs. Second, I hope you enjoy the game once you get it. I have several times, and even recently, been blamed for convincing someone to get RC and then they hated it. So I'm a little gun shy now. RC takes multiple plays -- even I hated it with my first few plays. It's a game that is deeper than it appears and feels (unfortunately gamers often think they are smarter than they really are). It appeals to a specific taste in games -- a "survival game" mentally. Play Jenny Needs Help first and heed my advice at the beginning of my playthrough of that one. Play with three characters. Ahhh, I really really hope you enjoy it. It is legitimately my favorite solo/co-op game. And if you like it, definitely get the Book of Adventures. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @ryusuikarate
      @ryusuikarate 3 месяца назад

      @@TotallyTabled Well, it has always been on my radar. I never got it because you can literally lose to bad luck because it often comes down to a die roll. But your playthroughs taught me that this game isn't necessarily about winning and losing. It's more about the experience and the ridiculous stories it tells. It's also enough for 1 person to know all the rules in co-op I think. So it's much easier to table with my friends than Spirit Island. Right now that's my favorite solo game but it has its flaws. Really looking forward to Robinson and your next videos. I cannot express enough how much I like your style. Really great. Thank you.

    • @ryusuikarate
      @ryusuikarate 3 месяца назад

      @@TotallyTabled I've played Jenny needs help with a friend's copy of the base game a few days ago and I'm hooked. So I'm turning to you for advice again. Right now in Germany I have the option of buying the deluxe edition or the base game + treasure chest. They cost exactly the same and I'm torn. The treasure chest has stickers for the adventurer tokens, expansion of the beast deck and more discovery tokens and I can fit everything in the base game box. Deluxe has minis (which I wouldn't use) and takes up a lot of shelf space but also has sturdier player boards and some niceties. I blame you that I can't decide because the finches that thwarted your plans in one of the playthroughs come in the treasure chest. What's your opinion? (Book of adventures will be bought either way)

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  3 месяца назад +1

      @ryusuikarate I personally would go for the smaller box, but that is a tough decision. The deluxe does come with those alternate sets of adventure cards, which I haven't tried but might be cool. The Book of Adventures is the critical item, so you can't go wrong if you get that. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the game! Good luck!
