From 1996, every game was telecast on either 7 or pay-tv. Before that, more and more games were telecast than not. For most of the 1980s, 7 and the ABC shared the rights and, typically, 2-3 Saturday afternoon games were telecast, but Victorians only got to see them on the "Saturday Night Replay"
@joefitzpatrick863 From 1988 to 1995, normally 1 or 2 Saturday afternoon games didn't have Channel 7 commentary/coverage at all. It was only one camera for the non-televised Saturday afternoon matches. Obviously when Optus Vision (Pay-TV) came in 1996, every AFL game got televised, & since 2002 Foxtel has televised the Pay-TV games, & every game, every week on TV 📺 forever.
Interesting change of pace! So neat to see how things were done differently back in the day.
What a Mighty Bombers team this was! A pleasure to see Essendon in its full power in the 3rd Quarter!

How on earth did Allan Jeans not pick Buckenara in the grand final 2 weeks later?
So every game was filmed from 1984 to 1986? When did the AFL evolve so that every game was telecast? 2001 when Docklands was built?

@@kurtflahavin5994 was less football filmed or telecast after 1986, when the ABC had sole right's in 1987, and then from 1988 CH7?
