Once you long press on the microphone and you've plugged in the receiver, you'll see a green light, not red, showing it's connected.
Also, after installing your Open Camera, if it's still not working, check the settings in the app and in audio setting, choose"external mic if any."

However, for other times, you can check your microphone's connection and make sure it's securely plugged in. Be close to your phone or try using a different input source.
