This 4th generation Texan is extremely proud of her state. But as a Houstonian, I must point out one extremely important fact that was missed in this lovely travel piece. Houston is also home to the largest medical center in the world.
The Med Center has 21 hospitals that service roughly 10 million patients every year. We have the top cancer center in the world along with one the best burn centers, and children’s hospital. Houston is home to the best heart specialists in the world. So many heart procedures were pioneered here. Now this is certainly not meant as a boast, I merely wanted to share something we all take great pride in 😉

Moved here for a new career opportunity. There is so much to see, so many different foods to try, and it has that laid back, optimistic vibe as well. I live in the Dallas area, and it has become one of the largest tech hubs in the country, so I'll always will have employment being in IT. No state income tax was also a huge plus for me from my move.

Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso and Austin all have democratic mayors and do very well that way. so you might want re think that red state thing.

@@dawoudalbader9337 I'm 65 and lived in Texas all my life. There is no coastal area in Texas that stays cold all year.As a matter of fact there is no where in Texas that stays cold all year! You will have to pick somewhere more north for cold all year weather. Houston has a very diverse race/religion area all are embraced but unfortunately racism is everywhere I'm afraid. The larger the city the more you will be accepted. Anyway good luck to you and hope you find what your looking for.👍
Hope this state will not turn blue. Than we will see the same as in California. Bad for business, there is a reason there is an exodus from California. I do see a future with Texas turning blue and California turning red. Those who flew high taxes in California are going to more business friendly states
As a Texan (Dallas) , everything was spot on . I feel like you missed 2 important areas. East Texas which some people have mentioned. And the one that always gets overlooked , the Rio Grande Valley.

Texas as a state is rich, but the quality of life of its inhabitans depends on what part of it they live in. Houston, San Antonio, Dallas or Austin are really beautiful, with many very rich and middle class people living there.I love living in Texas. Such a great state with even better people...
Wow, wow... A million thanks for this video on Texas. Never knew and even suspected Texas is this GREAT, beautiful and technologically at the cutting edge. We only have the cowboy image of Texas here in France. Yet Texas is way more modern and way more advanced than France in so many ways and areas of human endeavors. Thanks again for the video.
You are not the only one think that way. Many lives in New England, New York, and the west coast of the US thinks the same. Texas economy is one of the largest in the 'WORLD'. We have cutting edge technologies, aircraft manufacturing, auto manufacturing, micro chips manufacturing, the largest oil/gas producer in the US, Space research, the largest biomedical research, we even surpass California in exports in recent years. Just the same, many of us wear that silly cowboy hats!!! I still don't understand why people wants to ride that mean bull. Come visit Texas and enjoy our friendly Texas hospitality. Good day.

You are so correct! and since your from France, did you know that Texas saved the French wine industry in the 1880's? A Texas named T.V. Muncin did. France was importing grape vines from America, and with that came a bad afid (bug) called Phylloxera that almost annihilated the French wine industry. Almost 6 million acres! France sent some officials over to the states to find a cure, and here in Texas, TV Muncin was a horticulturist and grafted the rootstock from Texas vines with the French vines (Sent back to France 100's of them), and it wiped out the problem. The roots here were Phylloxera resilient. Part of this will be in my upcoming Texas Wine Documentary.

Growing up I saw the entire state, and it was remarkable

I spent my whole life struggling to get by in Wa and Ca , I migrated to Texas when Ca banned church attendance during Covid, the one thing that kept me sane. Found a new church, new friends (and several old friends who migrated too) and found a standard of living I never thought possible. Families can support themselves and thrive on a single income, me and my family members are becoming home owners, and career advancement and opportunities are as big as the sky. Life is good, I plan to die a Texan.
The majority of native Texans cannot live off of one income. Im not saying its not possible depending on ones career it’s definitely possible but to make it seem like all of a sudden moving to Texas makes your money issues non existent is misleading. Also although not banned here in Texas even churches started shutting down cz it was just common sense that gathering was making them all get sick.

As a Tejano (Mexican Who resides in Texas) you forgot a major key point here in Texas and that is that there is a large amount of our Mexican culture here from Selena Quintanilla, Mercados, día de los muertos, to the bailes, las cumbias, la comida mexicana, and so much more.
Most people will come here and think it’s gringoland and in some areas it is but places like Oak Cliff in Dallas, Market square in San Antonio, Sugar Land in Houston literally are rich in my peoples culture. If your Mexican and your from Texas you know what I mean for those of you who arnt from here remember the Mexican culture here is truly a powerful essence 🇲🇽✊🏻

Texas is rich with old Spanish and Mexican culture, tacos are the main food here. I don't think anyone looks at Texas as gringo land. We have always been a mix of independent gringos and mexicans forging a home out of the wild west.
Selena Quintanilla is not a Mexican culture. In fact, her brother AB Quintanilla, dissed the Mexican community a while back.
@@Telonelemon3 If you think Mexican culture is Selena Quintanilla, you really need to go to Mexico and pick up some history books. Also, Tejano does not mean what you think it means. Tejano is a term for the original Mexican settlers that settled in Texas while it was still part of Mexico, and into the period when Texas became independent and an American state. They’re the ones that braved it when Texas was desolate and uninhabited.

I’m a sixth generation Texan. My ggggranfather came here from Ohio in 1836, joined Sam Houston’s Army and fought in the revolution. He was awarded a large land grant for his service. Family has been here ever since. I have traveled in all 50 states in the great country. I would not leave Texas to live in any of them. Long live Texas!!

As someone who has lived in Texas for the last 15 years, this video was a trip. Not everybody has a cowboy hat and owns guns, but there is something for everybody. The people are respectful, but don’t put up with BS.
Having gone to high school in Houston, college in San Antonio, and currently living in Austin, I love how different each city is. Like I said, something for everybody.

I had the privilege to visit Texas twice from my previous company as a business trip. Boy, I miss it. It was a very nice experience and people are great!
I came to Texas in the early '80's. I love it here, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I live in Katy, TX. I was a small town just west of Houston but it's growing fast!
Thanks for showing the world that Texas is not just a cowboy town. Yes, we are that also. We settled in San Antonio 31 years ago with our children. They have attended St. Mary, UTSA and Baylor U. Now our Granddaughter is graduating from Texas A&M and has accepted to Dental School at UT Health Science Center here in San Antonio. We love San Antonio and Texas from the moment we set foot here 31 years ago. You have done a wonderful job of highlighting all the cities in Texas and the best we have to offer. 'You All Come' and enjoy our South Texas hospitality. But please don't Californ-i-a our state. We love it as it is just fine.

Moved to Austin from Michigan in 1991 due to very low housing costs..the year we made the move we bought a brand new home newly built for only 89K.
A lot of things to do here, hospitality factor is not up to par like they say, but we live in a nice 3500sq feet home in exclusive neighborhood, ..quiet place, close to the beaches about 4 hrs drive
And convenient to cruise ports..my passion for cruise travel is close to my heart..

This was easily one of the best and most accurate videos I have seen about Texas. Thanks for doing it. I'm originally from NJ. I moved to Texas decades ago when I got out of the military. I live in the DFW Area. It's a great area. There is something for everyone here. I live in the Mid-Cities area, which is a group of small cities between Dallas and Fort Worth. I'm not far from DFW Airport and can fly pretty much anywhere in the world if I need a change of scenery. One thing I would like to make people aware of is that Texas has higher than average Property Taxes and Sales Tax. Well, they have to get money somehow because there isn't any State Income Tax, and we don't get the tourism of other places like CA, FL, or HI.

So diverse as well, which from Pennsylvania, we have some diversity but definitely not as much as Texas. It's like California in a way, but more appealing to me. Texas my favourite state in the US
As a British tourist I visited Texas in 2007 From Houston to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Amarillo. Had a fantastic time and would love to live there.
I live in Fort Worth and the city and surrounding areas have grown rapidly, it looks so much different now but i liked it better how it was back then with not that many people lol.
How far is Amarillo from Houston? How long would the journey be?
My son moved over to Houston in April and loves it. He said the lifestyle is way better over there than over here.

Pretty good and fair representation of Texas. I’m a Texas native so I appreciate more accurate depictions of our state. Hopefully if you make another trip to Texas you get a chance to visit East Texas. It’s the most Southern region of Texas. Definitely more Southern than Texan but still has that Texan culture you find throughout the state.

Interesting that you gave Lubbock as much time as big cities like Dallas and San Antonio but totally overlook many other decent-sized cities like Brownsville, McAllen, Laredo, Odessa, Midland, Waco, Tyler, Longview, Texarkana, Bryan/College Station, Killeen/Temple/Fort Hood, Wichita Falls, or Beaumont/Port Arthur.
I'm from Lubbock Texas and I will say this. Lubbock is a mid size city and bigger, than any city you mentioned. It also has more to offer. Plus it is growing way faster, than any of those cities. You can't give them as much time as Lubbock bro. And I been to many of these cities you mentioned. Just keeping it Real bro, really no comparison.

We made four business trips to Fort Worth in 2021. Each time we were there, I felt sane in a world that had gone insane. We bought property in an area west of Fort Worth. Soon we will be moving to Texas and want to uphold the Texan way of God, guns, the Bible, and freedom!!!

I spend some months in Houston , in Corpus Cristi and in Kingsville after I drive half country and meet a many other states and I just keep Texas in my hearth like the best and more memorable and fantastic place and people where I lived short time ... Sadly I can’t come back but hope some day I can return there ... I am a chef travel a lot to many countries and Honestly America is the best In the world because there is freedom, truly multiculturalism, respect for rights and individuals , fair laws and regulations , more balance justice and kind and hard worker folks and respect for the family like central pillar for a society ...

The Bryan - College Station area needs more attention as one of the fastest growing areas of the U.S., the population is approaching that of Lubbock. With 70,000 A&M students, there are people from all over the world. College Station is still like a small town, but it is changing. Depending upon your career interest there are good jobs. Healthcare is particularly strong because of the A&M affiliated research hospitals.

I spent a couple of years in the Fort Worth area when I was young, back in 1989-1990 and loved every day of that time.
Fort Worth is the epitome of Texas.
You were here in the heyday. I guess I’m old now, but that period of time was the absolute best time in Texas in my opinion. The clubs, the music, the people, everything was amazing then.

I was surprised you did a pretty good job covering Texas. You missed out covering East Texas which is also it's own region. For one to start to understand Texas you have to understand that Texarkana is farther from El Paso than El Paso is from Los Angeles. The vastness makes for diversity of cultures as Texas is mid-western, western, southern, Mexican, and Texican all intermixed.

It is a 10 hour drive from Dalhart TX to Tyler TX. It take 8 hours to drive from Shreveport Louisiana to Mobile Bay Alabama.

Houstonian here, and I love Texas.
I remember getting into Dallas and out on the highway…and quickly winding up behind an old truck with a sticker on the back which said: “Welcome to Texas…Now go Home!”….
With that said, the most gracious people live in Texas….they are fantastic!
It’s true, people are extremely friendly and welcoming except on the roads. I’m talking about the crazy drivers. As for the bumper sticker guy would probably be the nicest person in the world if he met you in real life, but thinks the state’s just getting too crowded and the politics are different. They probably would be no matter what because every place has changed.

The best part of Texas is everything you didn’t hone in on. Everything you described is fair and accurate but what some might not realize is that Texas is massive. Bigger than most countries and while you did a good job describing the metropolitan hubs it didn’t scratch the surface. The big cities make up a big population, but the best is outside of them.

I’ve never been to Texas but according to What I see from this video, Dallas looks like the best for and my family. Therefore if I ever move to Texas Dallas would be out place
As someone who lives in San Antonio some of the other big things we have that wasn’t mentioned is the Tower of America’s, absolutely amazing food no matter where you go in the city, and the fact that we are Military City USA with one of the largest military populations in the world.

I'm a second generation Texan that grew up and lives in El Paso. There are some Important landmarks I think should be mentioned. The Plaza theater is one of the best classic theaters in Texas and the US it opened in 1930, it is beautiful. San Jacinto plaza in downtown is a nice stroll it once had live alligators in a pond however it was safe it had a low wall around the pond. There is also Franklin Mountains State Park it has nice hiking trails. The weather in El Paso is dry heat instead of humidity as much of other Texas cities have. I love Texas.

Favorite city in Texas is Houston. I lived on Westheimer and then on Richmond in Southwest Houston years ago.
Visited texas last year specifically the dallas fort worth area. As a native californian it was a breath of fresh air. Now as i get older, i plan on moving to texas. Many of the people i met were also friendly. Overall good hospitality in texas.
Dude visit Nashville, I liked Tennessee even better than Texas and I’m from the Bay

Ironic how one of the biggest and most liked attractions in Texas, the river walk in San Antonio, is one of the least car centric places in Texas.
You did a good job covering the state. I'm a Houstonian myself and can agree with some of the downsides you mentioned. I despise the sprawl! Can't wait until you cover my dream state Washington.
