I set Fall Detection to Always On because I’m over 60 and I live alone. I seem be reasonably steady on my feet so far, but you never know what might happen.
Working in healthcare being able to have your watch on for 70 seconds without timing out works great when counting for heart rates or respiratory rates.
Exactly, I didn't know it was an option to go to 70 and hated trying to count a baby's respirations by finding a clock hanging somewhere (different every dang room!). Fixed it to 70 now
Use a timer! Do you want to do a full 1 min of resp counting? Set a 1 min timer, then you don’t t have to look at your watch - look at your pt and in 1 min the watch will vibrate the end. A colleague taught me this - it’s a game changer, especially with kids.
70 seconds is useful as a nurse who needs the display on for at least 60 seconds to take vital signs like heart rate per minute, respirations per minute, etc. Very annoying when you look at your wrist trying to get a pulse to take a heart rate and the Apple watch screen turns off. 70 seconds is perfect for medical professionals. Hope that answers your question.
I was thinking the same thing as a first responder. I NEED that second hand for at least 30 seconds for pulse (1-015 seconds) and for respiration (10-15 seconds) counts. and it sometimes takes a few seconds to set up for that check.
@@andrewmoor7747 they could have at least gave 3 options 15 seconds! 30 seconds and 60 seconds and it would have made more sense even for medical professionals.
I had fall detection on and didn’t realize it. Then one day I fell and it asked me if I needed help. Shocked me at first but then I was so grateful and had a sense of security knowing that I could get help so easily. I love this feature. Also I am older and live alone and it reassures my family to know that this is one.
Fall detection also for old people like me. I don’t have to buy a fall de ice and pay a monthly fee. And it works, it detected when I slipped in a big puddle of water at Kroger.
Did I miss the part where they talked about why they turned off optimize battery charging? What are the two settings you would need to turn on to make it work?
There are TWO of these videos showing (as of now) 2mo old and 4mo old. They don't have identical content but NEITHER tell us what the two additional switches are relative to Optimize Battery. WTF.
I've been using my Apple watch for several years so I was skeptical that I was gonna learn anything new, but just in case I watched and did learn some great tips! Thanks you guys know your stuff and present it well! As far as app display, I like honeycomb and my solution is to group the apps that I use most in a center cluster, but not corresponding to the apps I keep in the doc. This gives me quick access to two different set of frequently used apps.
I like that honeycomb’s design more than the list of apps on Apple Watch, cause I can see all my important apps I will use daily on one screen without scrolling. If the apps order is alphabetical, I always have to scroll. There’s no chance to reorder the apps in the list view to have the important apps together on one screen.
As a nurse I do find the 70 seconds useful for checking rates for pulse, respiration, and IV drips. I have my first smart watch for a week. Still have more to learn, that's why I am a subscriber to your channel. Thanks
If you had a spatial memory, you’d prefer the Grid View. But the List View can also be a trainer to teach you what the icons look like. Then if you carefully organize them, you may find that the Grid View is faster for you.
Better yet delete from the watch when you delete them from your phone. Now the AW is definitely better than the galaxy watch but this is one thing it does correctly 😂. Come on apple
I’ve watched two of their Apple Watch settings videos now. They both bait features or explanations that “we’ll explain or get to later in this video” but don’t. I don’t know if this is intentional or not, but it’s irritating. Also, there is some misinformation regarding wrist down settings - turning off all settings under Always On does not result in a ‘cleaner’ wrist down display. It does not remove anything from the display at all. Makes me doubt whether they actually tried this.
Better way to maneuver apps: Hold side button and say “open music” or whatever app. Second: To switch back and forth between the last two apps just double click the crown. Back and forth that way! 👍🏻
THAT was the best tip of all, better than anything in this video. Not only can you switch back & forth, it'll show you an entire list of past apps used, which you can pick from. EXCELLENT TIP 1BSDjunkie!
70 seconds, because health care workers like me sometimes have to manually take pulse data (electronic pulse data is always 15-second chunks, in patients with arrhythmia we take a full minute). 70 seconds gives me time to raise my wrist to get the second hand going and start counting.
Nice video, but I would still like to know the settings the optimized charging requires, but which you disliked enough to recommend not using optimized charging at all… I reviewed the video a few times and think that either I’m too dense or you never got around to telling about them 😔
Hi, used the settings recommended in this video and when the day was over my watch head 15% more battery life then previous day and same time as a check tonight. Thank you.
I set my app view: in the iPhone, arranged them by how I use them and color, running apps to one side, sound apps to the other, and in the center whatever I rarely use because it’s harder to see them there.
Hello. Thanks for the great video. I don’t understand chapter 15 of the battery settings. You toggle the switch off but don’t explain why. Also which apps to turn I couldn’t find. Can you please explain? Thanks
You guys are the BEST!!! I was gifted an Apple Watch 9 by my daughter and son-in-law for my birthday tomorrow (it's a BIG birthday...Level 7!) and came to you right away to help me set it up and save battery. Thanks for always being on point!
TIP: Switch the crown to the left side (better said for “lefties,” pointing to your elbow). This way the crown won’t get pressed accidentally when flexing your wrist. Also you’ll find it easier to scroll with your thumb, without blocking the screen with your finger.
Always great information. Glad to see you are over 1 million subscribers!!!! Fall detection important. I fell when on vacation a couple of years ago (tripped over dog's leash). fracture my pelvis. Wish I had my watch then. Got one soon after. Thanks again for all the info.

70 seconds Wake Duration, I find it useful, as a doctor, I often check my patient's pulse manually most of the time in ED and I use the stopwatch, usually check around 30 - 60 seconds and the watch would stay awake and I could see the second hand moving for a good 30 seconds or so without the watch dimming itself and having to move to wake up every 15 seconds.

Fall detection is great for epilepsy patients who fall. It gives you 30 seconds bed it sounds an alarm and sends out a message to your contacts you have provided
I really appreciate your suggestions (and great you from Rome). My 15 Pro Max and Watch 9 have been taught to speak Italian, but I find it easy to follow your suggestions, despite the linguistic difference. 70 seconds is good for emt and paramedics that need to count the pulse which has to be done for more than 15 seconds.
