    Bard backwards is Drab. Accurate.

    I love your builds so much ^.^
    Any chance you could do some team builds? There's a surprising lack of them.

      Always glad when you stop by! Thanks for watching my stuff.
      I can definitely give it a shot! I'll see if I can find an interesting concept to build a team around. One is coming to mind...

    If I want a character that never attack, I would go either full peace cleric or full twilight cleric. First and second level spell slots go to bless and healing word, third level spells go to revivify and aura of vitality (to heal the party between fights), twilight get greater invisibility for a 4th level buff spell but all clerics have death ward and of course holy weapon is a powerfull buff as a 5th level spell (upcast prayer of healing is also a decent option in some cases).
    Most of the time just taking the dodge action is better than a tortle shell defence, so you might as well just play a human to start with resilient (constitution).
    Geting the heal spell, and later mass heal, is probably just better than what you get from artificer and bard levels (twilight get way better temp HP dealing, and peace get telepoertation to take damage instead of an ally, both being really good buffs).

      Yea, there are a lot of pacifist options, especially once you get high enough level to use a spell slot every turn. This build is not meant to present the most powerful option for pacifism, just a take on the opposite of a normal bard trope where they seduce everything.
      Full cleric would be a good option for a character that never attacks, and obviously peace and twilight are over powered, so yea your build you suggested is definitely a solid pacifist option!
      Variant human or custom lineage is pretty much always stronger than Tortle, I agree.

    A lot of me wants to compare the artificer build vs going Paladin 6. Swap int for str and buff cha higher rather than Int.

      Yes I totally get that. Permanent +5 to all saves is definitely a great option. It just sucks to get so many combat features and be unable to use them. But paladin would be a great alternative, I agree!

      @DndUnoptimized ya. Smite would suck, but a lot of subclasses give good noncom options. You could take Interception fighting style to reduce damage to friends (especially if you're going up close for the shell idea). Pretty good buff spells.
      I *do* like that the artificer is more Active than a paladin would be. Super fun build. We had a Bard with that subclass in our last campaign and it was a lot of fun. Having only a few random events is better than Wild Magic Sorcs random table which is *too* wild for my tastes.

      Yea, getting smite and extra attack would be dud features for sure, but we get some dud ones in artillerist too. I think in the end it will come down to permanent saves in a close radius plus lay on hands vs large range on select saving throws plus a ton of temp hp.
      I'm glad college of spirits is fun in play. I think I overlook it because of the randomness, and when you make builds you usually want a consistent ability to build around.

    Hi, could you make a video that explains how you calculate Durability of your characters. I see in the spreadsheet, that you calculate AC, COn etc. damage. What is the base damage for each of those, do you calculate in your AC/COn Save/etc. What numbers do you use?
    Great videos!

      I'm planning on doing a series talking about build analysis and I'll discuss the normal methods of doing things, and how I do them too. Hopefully that will help clear things up but it'll take a while before that video comes out.
      I can give you a summary of how it works though.
      I have a spreadsheet of monsters and their damage output broken up by if it targets AC, Dex save, or Con save. (Some monsters target other saves of course, but it is extremely rare).
      Then I take that damage and figure out what percentage comes through each. Then I use the character's AC, dex save, and con save to calculate the damage. A high percentage of dex and con saves are half on save, so I do that and take evasion into account too if they have it.
      I will say that the average damage output (combined AC, dex , and con) is actually really close to the table on DMG average monster stats. Almost identical.

      Thanks for the explanations! Would like to see the full video about it. Will you share the spreadsheet with your viewers. At least the info about damage at 5,9,13,17?

    • @DndUnoptimized
      @DndUnoptimized  7 месяцев назад

      If I can get the spreadsheet presentable then I'll share it. I actually only do for CR 5, 9, 13, 17 since it took so long to do. But I do the CR directly above and below it too in case there are statistical outliers at certain levels.
      Currently a lot on the go, but hopefully I can share it one day while it's still relevant before the new MM haha.

    You can't Vortex Warp a target on the other side of a Wall of Force, even though you can see them. All spells obey the general rule for spell casting that "to target something, you must have a clear path to it, so it can’t be behind total cover" (PHB chapter 10), unless the spell says otherwise.

      @DndUnoptimized  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ah of course. I zonked on that rule, thanks for the correction!

    But… why do you hate Gale?

    • @DndUnoptimized
      @DndUnoptimized  6 месяцев назад

      Pretty much every other character there is a point in the game where I think, "Person X would be really good to have here because it's good for their story" but that pretty much never happens with Gale. But most of all I find him the most uninteresting character.
