Hey, one thing I forgot to include. The different shell casings that were found at the scene, that made it look like people had been firing on the cabin -- we couldn't find a good explanation for that. It's possible, that because this was a remote cabin in the woods, that the casings were old and unrelated.
Another great one, really spooky. And sad At 14.31 you mention her shows and cell phone on the roof, gun on the ground, then you say the exact same thing after so I think it’s just an edit thing?
Me too!!! I have 2 kids to protect, my husband works away, so I've taught them to the best of my ability how to take care of themselves in case I'm not here. I am a severe diabetic, so I know I am short-lived. But, I wouldn't think twice giving mine for theirs!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰
About 10 yrs ago , I co-habitated with and was a caregiver for, a woman who was disabled . And one night while I was out of the house working. I got a call from her to hurry home and bring my gun because someone was trying to break in. So I drove home. and fortunately I didn't have my gun in my hand, because she'd also called the cops a couple minutes later, they arrived. What I found out when I got there, was that she had mixed up her medications and she was halluucinating that little elves were coming in through her windows. She was surprised that I could not see them... She said they were everywhere. Then the cops showed up and I had to help explain that.
I call that the "fish bowl/fish tank effect." Just like in an aquarium that usually has lights in it..@ night it's hard to see out when lights are on inside. I've heard noises @ night, so I just turn my lights out & THEN look outside. It definitely helps & you can see outside with much better clarity.
This touches a nerve with me. Many years ago we lived in a more populated area than where we are now. My husband would go to bed early for work next morning but I would stay up later. We had nothing out back but woods so I felt safe leaving the blinds on that side of the living room open. Big Mistake! One night my cat started staring at one of the windows and I looked up and thought I saw the reflection of night goggles 😮. The next day I walked around outside and there were heavy boot imprints all around most of all the windows. The next night I did everything the same, I put my tablet on, turned the lights on and with no kitchen lights on behind me watched from my kitchen as this sick person was grinning and looking in the window. I called the police and they ended up nailing him before he got far, turned out he lived right around the corner and tried to use this weird excuse that he likes to " monitor" the neighborhood at night using night vision and other tools. The cop told him that's a good way to get shot. I learned long before that event that no matter where you live you are not safe from others, if anything, living in isolation like where I am I feel it makes us easier prey, thus the need for the right to bear arms.
I'm an ex dispatcher for my local sheriff's dept and LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY THIS!!! YOU NEVER FEEL SILLY TO ASK THE POLICE TO COME OUT AND CHECK SOMETHING OUT!! WE WOULD RATHER IT NOT BE NOTHING AND YOU DIDN'T ATTEMPT TO ENGAGE A POSSIBLE INTRUDER!! THE POLICE WILL NEVER THINK YOU'RE STUPID OR CRAZY OR EVEN EMBARRASSED TO ASK FOR THEIR HELP TO GET PEACE OF MIND, AS LONG AS U DON'T MISUSE IT THAT'S WHAT THE POLICE ARE THEIR FOR!
My husband and I went to high school with Ada , she was always a very happy kind person who rarely spoke a bad word about anyone. Her son was her everything and she was a beautiful woman inside and out. We saw her at our class reunion just before she was attacked and she was the same person as always. We were very sad to hear about her passing and hope her family has found some peace. RIP beautiful Ada.
So you didn't hear about Sonya Massey huh? SMH Before you start handing out very dangerous instructions, understand a few things first, 1. Cops are dirty and can cover up your murder by hiding behind a badge. 2. The woman in the story was getting crossfaded and then smoked meth and her death was on her, she wasn't in danger, she was out of her mind.
We don't know about how she felt. I ppl think she gave a detailed mental breakdown of all her thoughts to her friend on the phone? Never even said that or that she went to therapy or was diagnosed. I'm from Baltimore. Seen 5 endings, multiple pre pews and stabs and yet sleep like a baby.
Aww. That's so sweet. Cherish those times with your daddy. Be grateful you have him. I've never had one and it's never really bothered me until now that I'm almost 40. Never let your dad and Mr Ballen tradition come to an end, until you're married and no longer living at home. ❤
Cute! I'm glad that you realize how precious that is. I wish MrBallen was somehow related to me. But, I still consider him a big brother nonetheless. ❤❤
Shocked to click on a Mr Ballen episode and see my beautiful cousins face. This was a tragic loss for my whole family and we miss her every day. Ada was beautiful inside and out and never was without a stunning smile on her face. Her death left a hole in our family. ❤
It's absolutely tragic that the man who attacked her, ruining her life and driving her to her death, was never held responsible for his vicious assault on her. RIP Ada.
@@Chelle-010 What do you mean? It's clearly stated, more than once, that her problems stemmed from her trauma induced by a random person attacking and savagely beating her on the street.
It's been a few months since I've watched a MrBallen. And the last few days I've been feeling pretty depressed and under the weather. But I'm 3 seconds in and already have a huge smile on my face to have him back on my screen!
Hey @MrBallen Earlier this week my mother passed away after a battle with cancer. She loved dark stories and horror her entire life. She fell in love with your channel and we would binge watch your videos during her treatment. You really brought her a lot of joy during a difficult time and for that I just wanted to thank you.
John (Mr Ballen), Adrian (Coffeehouse Crime), and Mike O (That Chapter) all know that we will hound them to know if the pets are okay! All give updates when available to try to help us feel better.
Thank you for telling the story fully before mentioning addiction. I loved that! You made the listener see things from her perspective first so maybe some understanding and empathy gets thru. It’s a dangerous and ugly disease. I hope her family found peace. What a sad and tragic story.
@@Kalvin_dDThey said intro theme, not intro dialogue. Easy mistake to make. Outside of the change you pointed out though, even the intro dialogue is the same which is cool
In the past 5 years. This is still my #1 go to channel. Great content, awesome man, and the level of what he has accomplished fighting for our county is just so much respected. ❤
Oh Ada. I'm a recovering addict and I've dealt with meth induced psychosis and just the intense paranoia. Even having hallucinations of being attacked myself. So much empathy for her and her family. Addiction is horrible.
That sucks, dude. I cant imagine. I’m recovering from substance abuse but damn never had hallucinations aOf any sort. You must be a really resilient person. Keep it up ❤❤❤
@@xc7525 It’s really nice to see positive comments to addicts on the internet. Most of the time we get hate for admitting we’re addicts. Keep spreading your light 😊
He truly is. I was very angered when I found out that the seals ejected him from their community. He never even mentions that he was in the seals. He is an outstanding person and he needs our support.
Mr. Ballen, as someone in recovery, I thank you for speaking of Ada’s struggles w/ addiction in a gentle & non-judgmental way. This story absolutely & totally broke my heart. I am also a mother & by the grace of God, I have 3.5 years clean (2/28/21), so this one really got to me.
@chloeclingerman9883 I tried to reply to your reply to my comment but it wouldn't let me tag you - but please know I am SO proud of you and I hope things only keep getting better from here. You did the hardest thing, but the right thing, for yourself and your family, and you should be so, so proud of yourself. Keep being awesome, chloe! :)
@@ddrreeaamm_brother 🥹 got me choked up over here! Thank you so much. It’s very easy for society to judge addicts/ppl in recovery. And I totally understand. So it really means a lot getting support & encouragement. I got clean after my son’s dad passed away unexpectedly (unrelated to drugs) & I realized I’m all he has now - and I’ll never look back!!!! Thanks for the love ❤️❤️
@chloeclingerman9883 one day at a time, friend! I got clean when I got tired of going to friends' funerals and ruining every opportunity I had at a better life. I had weakly tried to get clean before, but I finally decided it was then or never. Over a year later, life is better than it's ever been. I'm so glad you were able to turn things around, your kids deserve the "real" you and you rewrote what could've been an even more tragic story. Thank you for sharing here, hopefully stories like ours will reach others who are scared to take that leap and help convince them it's so, so worth it 🙏
This random Ballen Fan is proud of you. Its no small task to get where you are, and just keep walking that path. Just remember, theres a lot of love and understanding in these comments. For everyone, and every individual. Its an awesome place to be. Thank you for sharing, it means a lot, to a lot of us.
From this story, we can see that trauma, if not treated can lead you into desperate situations, just to get rid of the fear. Everyone take care of yourself. Don’t try to tough it out on your own. We all need to look out for one another.
I refuse to believe the narrative! It is obviously an easy way to close a case, the fact that they searched the pond and she was found later in a foot of water...they found drugs in her system and bish bam bosh case closed. I do not believe it for a second. Something went on there and it is rather being covered up or they have a budget problem and/or frankly couldn't care less.
Let me say, with honor sir, you AND your foundation are a great gift from God for many people!. I know you are an honorable man who has served our country well. For that I thank you. But your heart leans in direction of serving your fellow man who truly needs help. It warms my heart to see you serving your neighbor as you would yourself. God smiles on you my brother for doing so. I love your channel and now have a deep respect for you personally. Thank you, and may God Almighty contjnue to bless you!
My uncle is a retired K9 detective for our local area, he worked DEA as well. He's always told me to always call, even if you think you're being paranoid.
ask your uncle how often people start smoking meth to cope after a violent attack. He will tell you that is bullsht and the meth is prob why the initial attack occurred at all.
100% of all donations go to the cause! You my friend are a military hero and an incredible human being! If all people in the world had your character and honor the world would be a beautiful place! RESPECT!
Anyone else in the "Mr. Ballen's videos helped me get and stay clean" camp? You mentioned how we & you are changing the world through the Mr. Ballen Foundation, but I hope you know that you've also changed *our* lives. There are at least a handful of us who would probably not be here today if your unique, captivating storytelling hadn't given us comfort and something to distract from the pain of withdrawal while we tried, for the millionth time for many of us, to get clean. I'm over a year clean at this point, and you & your videos were a big part of that story. Thank you, John, for everything you do. The world is better for having you in it.

It feels impossible at first, and it's a struggle no doubt, but it's *amazing* here on the other side. ❤️
Well since yall have done drugs is that how meth makes a person act as I think someone got away with murdering this women seems more likely then the official story I feel like when a person has substances in their body they blame them as a way to close a case as they don't care to put anymore effort into that person once that is discovered.
This is my actual worst nightmare. I don’t do drugs but I have difficulty sleeping and a small mental health illness and the idea of not being able to separate reality from illness is terrifying
This is why I won't take Ambien. I had a coworker that had a prescription and she made a full dating profile, pics included, and remembered none of it.
I have done drugs and 85% of the time I had an amazing time on them. But when you get paranoia or ‘lose it’ (whilst temporarily out of it) you genuinely realise how mental illness must feel. Made me much more compassionate and aware of others headspace and breakdowns etc.
imo the man that attacked her killed her , even though he didn't physically do it at the time of the attack he caused her to reach this ending , i keep thinking what her life would look like if that man didn't attack her and i feel my trust rise in saying that *he killed her*
I hope you have found effective ways to cope. My OCD (diagnosed and medicated) causes intrusive thoughts that are sometimes hard to reject. They are especially prominent in a quiet dark room. Just saying I understand.
What a sad story. I can't imagine how her BF, son, and friend she called felt after learning what her last few hours were like. Poor fur baby, too! He must have been so freaked out! Glad her friend called the cops and he was only left alone for a few minutes. RIP Ada.
@joyceoliver9970 this story is tragic. It's shocking how quickly one's life can take a turn for the worse, and outside of your control. I hope she's found peace.
Makes ya wonder if the dog knew or how cool it would've been to have it trained to help her through any paranoia or challenging times.😕Still, I'm glad Ada had him (her? I should've listened better!).
Ah. This makes total sense now. My twin was a meth addict for yrs and when you're coming down... the paranoia and hallucinations (paranoia induced, not necessarily true hallucinations, idk) would kick in. Woke up the folks one night because he said someone broke in and was in the house. Step dad got the gun and did a walk thru... nothing. However, i slept thru the entire thing and no one checked my room. Lol wtf?! I said... what if it HAD been real?! They said from the way he was acting, they knew it was drugs. He also blocked off windows into his bedroom cause he kept thinking cops were outside flashing their flash lights into the windows to look inside. He also barricaded a closet door with a couch cause he was paranoid about "something" being in there. Like a monster? Lol. I can happily say though, our experience had a happy ending. He's been clean 10yrs now. Very proud of him.
WOW! Thank you for sharing! So happy for him and your loved ones that had to go through all that with him. Congrats on his 10 years. Hugs and positive vibes from Massachusetts! 🫂🫶
My ex fiance had a very destructive relapse right before we split up. He lied the entire time that he wasn't using even though all the signs were there that he was. He came over one night for us to try to "talk things out" and was so high nothing he said made any sense. I tried to get him to sleep and lay down with me to calm down his panicked state and he was sweating, shaking and breathing harder than I've ever heard anyone breathe in my life. I just tried to shush him and rock him to sleep. I dozed off for a second and jerked awake to find myself alone in the house after hearing some strange noises through my open window outside. I searched the house for him and eventually found him outside with a flashlight, in his underwear with no shoes on. He was standing in the middle of the road shining the flashlight into my neighbor's window at 3 o clock in the morning. He said that someone had climbed through her (closed) window after parking a motorcycle behind her house and was going to rob or attack her or something. Idk what he thought he was going to do, stare them to death?? Obviously there was no one there. Just him. It took me nearly an hour to convince him to come inside and he was pissed at me for it. Later on, he actually became dangerous both to me and to himself. I tried to get him help/treatment but he just didn't want any. That all said, I still feel terrible for Ada. She must have been so scared. You never know what people have been through that makes them turn to drugs. RIP to her and I hope anyone else suffering with addiction gets help.
I think that Mr. Ballen is really one of my favorite channels for so many reasons. He's a genuine guy and things like this non-profit really show how much he actually cares about people. Also, story-telling is a super great skill to have and Mr. Ballen does it so so beautifully. Love this channel so much!
I don’t know if anyone has noticed it, but I’ve noticed how much more relaxed mr Ballen has gotten over the years. At the start of his channel, he would sit turned away from the camera and now he’s facing directly towards the camera and he’s more chill and comfortable. ❤
Oh yes. If I look at pictures of him now or watch his videos, he seems much more confident. But also, much more at peace . . . inside peace . . . that he’s content with himself. That’s something not many people find. I’m so glad he did. He deserves only the best. I do like saying: I followed MrBallen before he was popular and cool.
I've often wondered if while he was with the Seals in the military, the guys would sit around or be in their bunk and someone yell out, hey J̌ohn...let's have us some stories. But only of😢 the strange, dark, and mysterious kind.
That's actually the first thing I would do. I have actually done this before. It wasn't because I saw something scary, but just because I wanted to see more clearly outside.

I appreciate that you, once again, treated the victim with compassion. It's easy to say, "Don't do drugs in the first place," but considering the harrowing experience she had had previously, your storytelling reminded me not to judge someone whose position I've never been in. Thank you.
you are both ridiculous. get back on planet earth. NOBODY HAS EVER STARTED SMOKING METH TO COPE WITH AN ATTACK.
We can both have compassion for her and recognize her experiences, and also say very firmly that you shouldn't be doing drugs/meth in the first place. She ultimately lost her life because of that choice. She also could've harmed someone else in that state, hurt or killed her dog, etc. It is a shame she didn't find help and support and another path out of her situation. A very sad ending
This story hits home. Just about a year ago I was a survivor in a random, violent event in my city similar to Ada. Just “wrong time, wrong place” type of crimes. It has deeply affected my life, and then shortly afterwards I too was laid off from my job, worsening my own mental health. So I relate: I jump at everything, I can’t tell what is really making me scared or if my brain is making it up. It’s a hard, hard way to live on a daily basis. Thankfully I found resources and counseling that is helping me, and I’m not self-soothing with dru*gs or booze. But I deeply know the temptation of those short term fixes. It is a hard journey to getting my life back. Thanks Mr Ballen for showing empathy and understanding to a woman’s story and explaining how hard it is to get over a crime like that! And I’m sending so much light and love to Ada’s community for their loss.
Please don't let people say 'wrong place wrong time' - you were probably somewhere you had every right to be at a time you had every right to be there. The same thing happened to me. I was going to work at 7:30, that was the right time to be at the office by 8. I got off the bus at that stop, the right place for me to get off the bus. I was walking to the office, the right way, at the right time at the right place. He had no right to touch me. You probably had every right to assume you were safe where you were, when you were there.
Sad to hear your story. There's a lot of good people around also. Try to think statistically, what chances are there to be a victim again after having being once. It's a quite small number for sure. Practice some self defense, helps building self confidence. Take care of yourself
Best thing is to accept your attack happened and try to skill up in self defense. I too been attacked multiple times before but what doesn't kill you should be a insightful lesson and most likely happened to help you grow stronger. Also there are other people who had experienced way worst attacks so just be glad your own attack wasn't too bad.
I heard you tell one short story on here about a year ago and now I'm hooked, the pictures you paint in my mind I only get when I read a great writer like Steven king, your voice calms my stress, and your stories blow my mind..and I the year that I've been listening I've only hear of 3 before!!!....your awesome buddy keep up the great work.
I am in recovery from drugs and alcohol and I can truly tell you that the “shadow people” you see while high on meth is 100% real….well, really in your head. Also, something happens to your vision when high and your eyes dart back and forth like you have that disorder that I can’t remember the name of right now. It causes you to truly see things that are not there. I saw a man standing against my car smoking a cigarette out of my window and I knew it wasn’t real but I could see him. It was like I could see another dimension or something. So, this poor lady, I’m sure, went through it that night. She must’ve been so scared. I hope she got some peace in the next life.
The eye movement phenomenon you mentioned is called nystagmus. It can be drug-induced by things like excessive stimulants and even hallucinogens and deliriants (like MDMA and Mescaline, respectively), but there're both environmental and neurological factors that can make it _permanent._ Imagine having that 24/7. Horrific. (For what it's worth, I saw the Shadow People™ and meth gremlins aplenty during my substance abuse days.) Congrats on your recovery, by the way! ~8 years clean from a 12-year heroin addiction myself.
@@amyglover2872 I'm guessing that different areas, different sources, different cooks, batches, and/or people along the way cutting it with who knows what would produce some different experiences. Also considering that we all react differently to ingested substances and considering that combining other medications into the mix will also produce varied results that everyone could react differently to would explain why other people have never had that experience. I myself have seen shadows that don't exist on sleep deprivation alone, but nothing I would fear or shoot at. It seems to me that the cops were either lazy, overburdened with cases or not incredibly bright, possibly inexperienced or something because the other bullet shells were not investigated, they didn't mention having checked for bullet holes inside the cabin indicating that she had been shot at, nor did they mention if bullet holes WERE found inside the cabin that they'd been found to be bullets from her gun indicating that she'd either had multiple shootouts or that she'd shot so wildly or haphazardly all over the place that it was simply too difficult to determine if other shooters were present or not. I think that the second they got that toxicology from the autopsy, they slapped together an explanation that fit the prejudice of drug user and used that as an excuse for not having pursued other leads and not needing to continue investigating, case closed.
The longer you stay up, the more real it seems….. so glad I am not on drugs anymore. Used for twenty years, opiates, benzos, crack and yes, sometimes meth….dont know how people make meth their drug of choice…. It stops being fun after about a day or say, as your mind slips away.
I completely disagree!! Its the most misleading title ever!! I hate when he does this. He never did until recently. He always told TRUE stories, but lately hes started to make stories up. All this was, was a drug addict who bugged out. He made up alll this crazy stuff just for a good story. Absoltly nothing scary happened, and honestly this is disrespecftul to the girl who died to make an entire story up about that night, none of it actually true. Is Mr Ballen psychic, and know that she heard banging upstairs, or hid behind a couch, or crawled from room to room as he said.......annoying and a lie!
@@joeymims5852true, I was wondering that. He makes it seem like he’s giving an account that came from her directly, giving the impression she had survived to tell the tale. Hey, one thing I forgot to include. The different shell casings that were found at the scene, that made it look like people had been firing on the cabin -- we couldn't find a good explanation for that. It's possible, that because this was a remote cabin in the woods, that the casings were old and unrelated.
I was just going to ask about that. If they were old though, wouldn't the police know if they were old or just fired?
Another great one, really spooky. And sad
At 14.31 you mention her shows and cell phone on the roof, gun on the ground, then you say the exact same thing after so I think it’s just an edit thing?
Most likely.
Though it still leaves some room for interpretation, which is the best part of these stories

This is why I keep my blinds closed and most of the lights off at night. The thought of someone being able to see me but not seeing them terrifies me
If you want to look at me go ahead if you inter my house I've got a 50 cent solution for that too
This touches a nerve with me.

Well since yall have done drugs is that how meth makes a person act as I think someone got away with murdering this women seems more likely then the official story I feel like when a person has substances in their body they blame them as a way to close a case as they don't care to put anymore effort into that person once that is discovered.
No, no one is that pathetic to need parasocial relationships and videos to get clean when most are smart enough to not get dirty in the first place.
Made me much more compassionate and aware of others headspace and breakdowns etc.
imo the man that attacked her killed her , even though he didn't physically do it at the time of the attack he caused her to reach this ending , i keep thinking what her life would look like if that man didn't attack her and i feel my trust rise in saying that *he killed her*
Eating healthy. Working out. A dog & nature has proven to help SIGNIFICANTLY with mental health.

Ah. This makes total sense now. My twin was a meth addict for yrs and when you're coming down... the paranoia and hallucinations (paranoia induced, not necessarily true hallucinations, idk) would kick in. Woke up the folks one night because he said someone broke in and was in the house. Step dad got the gun and did a walk thru... nothing. That “twin” is you. Great job, bro.

I don't understand people who are indoors with lights on and they hear something outside and they don't turn their lights off. It's unbelievable.
Right? You are a sitting duck. You know your house in the dark, they do not.
That's actually the first thing I would do. I have actually done this before. It wasn't because I saw something scary, but just because I wanted to see more clearly outside.
Well, she clearly wasn't thinking straight but agreed. F that business - those lights go off with a quickness.
Few people seem to comprehend that turning off all the inside lights is the best way to see outside, except for turning on an outside light.

Never tell a potential intruder that you’re armed! The fact they think you’re defenseless when you’re not is a huge advantage!
True but the reason why people say that is in hope they will move away if they know the person inside is armed.
@@nezz0r That might work but sometimes crazy people don’t really give a shit and won’t go away.
@@KFBR392
True, that's why it can go either way:
Telling the intruder you have a weapon.
a) Intruder gets scared and goes away.
- Advantage: No confrontation and additionally maybe no property damage.
b) Intruder does not go away and is prepared to go against you.
Disadvantage: Loss of suprise.
--
Not telling the intruder you have a weapon.
Intruder continues what he is doing.
Advantage: Suprise is on your side.
Disadvantage: You will get the confrontation and your property might get damaged.
So there can be reasons for both scenarios.

As a survivor of historic abuse I think it’s amazing that you have made this foundation keep up the amazing work
I appreciate that you, once again, treated the victim with compassion. It's easy to say, "Don't do drugs in the first place," but considering the harrowing experience she had had previously, your storytelling reminded me not to judge someone whose position I've never been in. Thank you.
I agree! I loved that
you are both ridiculous. get back on planet earth. NO ONE starts smoking meth to "cope" Any addict will tell you that excuses are made so behavior is acceptable, or for pity or for other reasons. she most likely was an addict and that was probably connected to her first attack when and if it happened at all. quit with this bs acceptance sht and keep yourselves grounded.
I understand all too well. Wish I didn’t but i do. I’m rooting for you!
Sad to hear your story. There's a lot of good people around also. Try to think statistically, what chances are there to be a victim again after having being once. It's a quite small number for sure. Practice some self defense, helps building self confidence.
Take care of yourself
u did meth bro?!?!
Cabins really creak and pop at night. Anyone who's stayed in one knows this. It's actually creepy if you aren't expecting it.
Horrific. (For what it's worth, I saw the Shadow People™ and meth gremlins aplenty during my substance abuse days.)
Congrats on your recovery, by the way!
Sleep deprivation is the most potent hallucinogenic.
See demons too for sure. I have seen
The longer you stay up, the more real it seems….. so glad I am not on drugs anymore. Used for twenty years, opiates, benzos, crack and yes, sometimes meth….dont know how people make meth their drug of choice…. It stops being fun after about a day or say, as your mind slips away.
