Assalamualaikum! In today's video, I will be sharing my experience as a Pakistani international student spending Ramadan in Australia, specifically in the city of Perth. As an international student studying in Australia, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to celebrate religious events and cultural traditions while living abroad. But with a little bit of effort and creativity, it is possible to make the most out of these moments even when you're far away from home.
First, let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I am a Pakistani student studying in Australia, and I've been living in Perth for a few years now. Perth is a beautiful city, with lots of parks, beaches, and scenic landscapes to explore. As an international student, I've had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and experience different cultures, which has been an incredible learning experience.
However, as a Muslim, celebrating Ramadan in a foreign country can be quite challenging. Ramadan is the holy month of fasting, where Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. It is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and generosity towards others. But how do you celebrate Ramadan when you're far away from your family and community?
To start off my Ramadan day in Australia, I decided to go grocery shopping at Woolworths. Woolworths is a popular supermarket chain in Australia, where you can find a variety of halal food options, including dates, nuts, and fruits, which are essential for breaking the fast.
After purchasing the groceries, I headed to the mosque to offer Juma prayer. Friday prayer is a congregational prayer that Muslims perform every Friday, and it is one of the most important prayers of the week. The mosque is a place where Muslims come together to pray, socialize, and connect with their faith.
As I was walking back from the mosque, the weather suddenly turned beautiful, with a refreshing rain shower. The rain is a blessing in Islam, and it felt like a special moment, a gift from Allah. It was a beautiful reminder of how Allah provides for us and takes care of us, even in the smallest ways.
Once I arrived home, I began cooking my aftar (the meal for breaking the fast). Cooking aftar can be a challenging task, especially when you're fasting, but it's also a rewarding one. I decided to cook a Pakistani dish called "chicken biryani," which is a delicious and flavorful rice dish. Cooking biryani requires a lot of preparation and patience, but the end result is worth it.
As I was cooking, I reflected on how blessed I am to be able to celebrate Ramadan in Australia. Despite being far away from my family and community, I still have the opportunity to connect with my faith, meet new people, and experience a different way of life.
Living in Australia as a Pakistani international student has been a unique and enriching experience. I've had the opportunity to learn about Australian culture, meet people from all over the world, and experience life in a new way. As a Pakistani guy in Australia, I've had the chance to share my own culture and traditions with others and learn from theirs.
Australia is known for its laid-back lifestyle, beautiful scenery, and friendly people. As a student in Australia, I've had the chance to explore different parts of the country, from the beaches of Perth to the bustling cities of Sydney and Melbourne. Studying abroad is an incredible opportunity to gain new perspectives, learn new skills, and broaden your horizons.
